  • BEST PODCAST EVER!

I spend all my quiet time listening to Crime Junkie! Every chance I get, I’m listening to something I haven’t heard because there is SO much awesome material to choose from so I never run out no matter how much I listen. I LOVE the endless perks of being in the fan club! I honestly can’t tear myself away from Crime Junkie long enough to even try listening to any other podcasts. To Ash & Brit: If I’m not listening to Crime Junkie, come looking for me! 😆 Love the app, it is so convenient and fun to use. I do wish the search function had more filters and sorting options, and that the merch store was open more often. Thanks Audiochuck Crime Junkie team for all your endless hard work! You guys spread awareness for families of missing & murdered people and that’s so important. Love you guys! See you in the Fan Club app! 😊
  • Best in class

I have been a CJ fan since learning that Ashley was from Indiana which was intriguing to me to see someone nearby become some successful doing something I too am passionate about. Through her podcast she has given me the courage to follow my dreams as she and Brit have followed theirs. The confidence in their voices echo to others in ways that I’m sure she not Brit realize. Through careful consideration I have decided that it’s time to follow my dreams and that is becoming an attorney due to the many injustices I have witnessed. Though our justice system states that people are innocent until proven guilty it is evident that our justice system works oppositely and people are actually guilty until proven innocent. Thank you Ashley and Brit for being not only giving victims a voice and their families hope but also inspiring others. I encourage everyone to listened to just 1 CJ podcast and you will understand exactly what I am saying and you too will be a fan!!
  • So binge-worthy!

I’m trying the Crime Junkie app during the free trial period this summer. (Thank you, Ashley & Brit! I feel like we’re all friends.) I’ve listened to the podcast for years, but this app takes it so much further! As you listen, pictures come up when discussed, so you know exactly whom or where they’re talking about when. And I haven’t explored the interactive community much yet, but I’m looking forward to it. What I really love about these two amazing hosts is that they really care about the victims and their families and advocate for them in ways we can emulate. The fascinating storytelling techniques with all the twisty stories are addictive. I’m often sad and angry when I listen, but these are important to be told so we can be aware of the Crime Junkie rules and signs of abuse. It’s also super helpful that they cover cases that aren’t widely known. EVERYONE deserves to be searched for and honored and provided justice!
  • App is Glitchy

This is not a review of the content of this podcast whatsoever. I instead want to commend on how, lately, the app has become a lot more unstable for me over the course of the last few weeks.

The app will randomly log me out and require me to sign back in (even though I’ve been logged in since the existence of the beta app and it has never done that to me. Now more recently? It’s done it at least 4-5 times, including one time where it logged me out after I’d already downloaded an episode for a plane ride with the intent to listen to it during the ride. Unfortunately, I was unable to and I was thoroughly annoyed.)

Additionally, the app seems to have forgotten how to remember the speed setting between episodes. Normally, I listed to episodes at 1.5x speed. However, lately, when I open the app to start an episode, the speed is set to the aforementioned 1.5x but it’s definitely not playing at that speed. The app is also doing this when it switches from one episode to the next using the auto play feature but not always, which is also very confusing.

All in all, these recurring issues have led to me enjoying the app a lot less and I find myself leaving large gaps of time between when I choose to listen to episodes. If I could give it 3.5/5, I would if only for these pesky issues that weren’t present before.

  • Review for the app not the podcast

UPDATE: I guess the problem is if the crime junkie team is paying good money to have an app developed and this is the result… if they’re developing it themselves then ok, they’re learning, but I hope they didn’t pay someone who claimed to have a ton of experience or happy customers… I mean it’s 2024, what website, app, or software only has ONE filter option at a time… that is more or less a useless filter…. It is like 101, so basic… I hope they didn’t pay a lot of money for this.

Dunno who greenlit the app update as it was def not ready to go out or perhaps they don’t have a UX person on their team, not sure. I can see where they want to go with this app but it was a downgrade from the prior one and needs work as has been listed in the reviews below. Of course the content is top notch as per usual but a tad perturbing when you get hooked and how can no longer conveniently listen…. 😒😒😒

  • Review for App not Podcast!

Have been a huge fan of Crime Junkie for years now! Love the podcast and love the hosts! But the app update is honestly really terrible. Typically I cannot listen to a whole episode in one sitting because most of the time I listen while running errands. The new app loses your place once exited. So I go back in to press play and it is at the beginning of the episode again and I have to try to find where I left off. I don’t like how it doesn’t show you when you already played an episode too. It has logged me out a few times too, which isn’t a huge deal but kinda annoying when the old app kept you logged in, it is nice so I could just open and press play and go. Also even with a filtering option it would not work for me since my app is just restarting the episode and showing it either as played or unplayed. I feel terrible leaving a bad review but that is the only way to let them know that there are issues.. between having to find my place and sometimes login on top of it, just for ease and quickness while I’m trying to leave, I will sometimes just exit out of the app and listen to something else honestly :(

  • Dedicated fan

A friend recommended Crime Junkie and I immediately started listening on Apple iTunes, along with all of the ads. Once I cycled through all of the episodes, I started searching for other Audiochuck podcasts to listen to and have found several that I thoroughly enjoy, but I knew I wanted more content from Crime Junkie. I “bit the bullet” and joined the top tier of the fan club so I could have all the content. I love that you hear more about Brit and Ashley, their friendship, the community and everything offered within the app. I listen to (more than) several episodes at a time while painting murals for hours on end. I appreciate their research, advocacy and push for everyone to do more for those families and loved ones we listen about.
  • Best App for the Best True Crime Podcast 💜

I began listening to Crime Junkie in 2020 when I, like so many others, searched for ways to feel connected to the outside world. It was love at first sight (listen?) and Ashley & Brit truly became such an integral part of my day that they feel like best friends now. Once I quickly made it through the standard episodes, I immediately joined the top tier of the fanclub and was delighted to find it included hours and hours of more CJ audio plus its very own app! Not only are the regular episodes released early and ad-free, but Ash and Brit give us fans SO many extras within the app — from exclusive episodes, to updates, to community engagement, to early access to the merch store… you get the idea! I am now on my second listen through of all the episodes via the app and I truly don’t know what I’d do without CJ keeping me company during car rides, school pickups, folding laundry, and falling asleep at night. Plus I have to add that Ash and Brit are so wonderful to their fans and actually engage with us (how many people can say they texted their fave podcast host and got a response back?!) and truly love and are grateful for this community. 5 stars isn’t enough to convey my love for this app and all things CJ!! My only wish is that all audiochuck series become available in a similar format in the future! Thank you for all that you do Ashley & Brit and the entire audiochuck family! 💜
  • The best

Crime junkie has changed the way I view true crime and has helped mold and inform my thoughts on so much that’s going on in the world. It can be very fun and entertaining to listen to but if you let it, it can also be very moving and emotional.
The first time I heard the podcast I was on a road trip with my family from Wisconsin to Arizona (which is a long time to be in a car with family) and I fell in love. At first it was just extremely interesting, well told stories that kept myself and my family from going crazy in a car. As I continued to listen it became so much more. Crime Junkie and Audio Chuck have truly changed true crime for the better.
I can’t say enough good things about it and the people involved. So grateful 💗
  • CJ 💜💜💜

I’ve listened to CJ since December of 2018; a friend recommended it , I started listening that same day , and binged all the episodes within a month . I became a fan club member pretty quickly as well. I love Ashley and Brit and everything they do for CJ ( as well as Delia and the other reporters and team members who help in making CJ the amazing thing that it is ). I also love that along with just making episodes, CJ has been proactive in raising funds and donations , helping families , demanding Justice , and raising public interest in cases that weren’t getting enough attention . As far as the app itself , I love that I can sort episodes different ways, find older episodes easily , and find announcements quickly as well . I’ve ne er had any issues using the app . I for sure won’t deduct stars for it , but the only criticism I can think of is that I really really miss Headlines .. like as much as I’m always excited for new episodes, for some reason I’d get double excited for Headlines. But we can’t always get everything we want and things change ; I completely understand if it was just too much on everyone’s already full plates or something to that extent . Definitely doesn’t stop me from continuing to love love love CJ .
