I had been a $10 Patreon of Crime Junkie for about 3 years up until about 5 months ago (college finances got tight). I didn’t love the initial switch over to the app, since it was so laggy and buggy when it first dropped. About a week ago I renewed my Patreon membership, and I’m incredibly disappointed. The app is still buggy (crashes, audio cuts in and out). Besides all that, I’m not getting the content I paid for. They claim you get a “backlog” of episodes, but that content isn’t unlocked because I’m paying monthly and not annually, I guess. It’s not even that I can’t listen to the episodes from between when I cancelled my subscription and when I renewed it- I can’t listen to some of the episodes I had previously been able to access with a monthly subscription. I’m upset- the Patreon membership and the app it comes with is a cash grab and not at all worth the money you’re paying for it, unless you want to pay $100+ up front.
I love this podcast; however, I’m unable to use the application. I reached out to the support email for assistance a few times, but I’m sent a generic “fan help” page that has not been helpful in my situation. Despite many attempts to follow the suggested steps, and reaching out multiple times, this issue still hasn’t been corrected. For that reason, I’m rating 1 star and cancelling my membership.
The app is trash.. it’s stupid I have to be connected to wifi to listen when my phone has service. And when I do download episodes to listen to on the road or on a plane the app just stays black and I can’t even listen to the downloaded episodes.
I love crime junkie and I hate that this app is the only way to access the content we pay for. It crashes all the time, often won’t let me pause it or play it once it’s been paused. I constantly have to close out the app entirely and start the episode over which is frustrating. I miss just being able to listen to it on Apple podcasts (without ads)

I do not like this app. Actually, I hate it. It’s glitchy and there’s no way to filter by unplayed episodes. I’m a Patreon subscriber and I’m paying to get extra episodes but to get these I have to use the app. I can see requiring non Patreon members to use it, they’re getting a free product but I’m paying them $10 a month and have to use a poor product. I listen to everything else on the Apple Podcast app and as a result Crime Junkie episodes just build up on this app until I’m caught up on everything else which is sometimes months at a time. I don’t really care about the extras they include for the episodes that you can see in the app. They were including those in show notes anyway so it’s not that much different. Mostly I’m just irritated that I give them money and I have to use another app to get what paying extra for. That makes no sense.
I feel like I’ve got taken advantage of I decided to sign up for the $20 Patreon like 2 months ago it’s was great when I first got it I had access to the entire catalogue but little did I know that because I joined on the 29th of the month that I was gonna get charged another $20 on the first of the month.
I would understand if Patreon wanted to charge me a prorated fee for the 2 days before the new billing cycle started but no they charged me the entire thing twice.
So really enjoy the show so I thought I’d wait until the first of the following month when I had the money so the beginning of this month I sign up again just to find out they changed what you get for $20 it’s essentially 1 or 2 extra episodes which that was all I was interested and they don’t give you any of the back catalogue and the main reason I joined was because I wanted to listen to the back catalogue. This is not cool i really feel taken advantage.
I have enjoyed this podcast until today. Y’all seem pretty intelligent so that makes me wonder how you thought the episode you did was acceptable. You could have done this episode any week of the year but you picked to do it this week. For a day where we are supposed to honor our veterans for their sacrifice and y’all went and made some of them look like murders. Why would you think that bringing awareness to one by placing judgment of guilt on the others was an acceptable episode. They claim to be cleared but you drug them through the mud. There are plenty of stories out there about civilians who have murdered military members. But you picked one to make sure the military didn’t look too good. My husband is a retired Marine and even he said that was just a huge slap in the face. Shame on you Ashley

I have listened to Crime Junkie for quite some time; then they expanded into Audiochuck and a plethora of other shows which I listen to as well. The app is very well designed! I love the black/purple color scheme and the fact that the photos are RIGHT there as the story goes along makes it an incredibly smooth process to listen, see and even read about the case being told. The audio quality is astounding I RARELY have an issue with the app. The community is extremely friendly and more of a Family. Anyone can belong here, talk about cases as well as answer polls. I encourage any and every true crime enthusiast to join! Be Weird, Be Rude, Stay Alive ;)
I love Crime Junkie so much!! I’ve been listening for years now and am so glad there’s a new way to get Patreon content because the website was really annoying sometimes and I never really ended up using it. Now I can binge all the ones I never got to listen to 🤩 The one thing about the app that I would love to see fixed is that after a certain amount of time of keeping the podcast on pause, it refreshes so you have to find the episode again. It keeps the place of where you are in the episode which is nice though. It’s easy enough just to look up the name of whoever the case was about in the search bar, but it’d be nice if it didn’t refresh. All in all I’m so glad they made an app!! 😍😊
