  • Great app have to use upside down

It’s a great app but I’ve had to learn how to use it upside down. Why? My phone microphone is at the bottom of my iPhone like most phones. It records much better if I point the bottom of the phone at the bird. If the app was able to rotate 180 in the screen like some other apps It would work better and be more usable.
  • such a useful tool!

i am hard of hearing and often have trouble distinguishing between different species while birding. this tool has been incredibly valuable to me. possibly my favorite thing about this app is that it starts recording as soon as you open it; you don’t have to hassle with it at all, which is great for getting a quick ID. i also love that you can save clips to look back on later, which is especially helpful when you’re out in the woods and can’t get an internet connection right away. like others have said, the app is a bit glitchy, and it sometimes freezes even when i do have a good connection. overall though i haven’t been too frustrated by this app. it’s extremely helpful and it is typically quick and accurate in getting an ID. i’ve found myself recommending this app to everyone, from close friends to total strangers on the trails :)
  • Excellent

This application does what it says it does. It was even able to detect my cookoo imitation and determine it was a human noise.
  • Not so great anymore

App worked for a while, then recently stopped recognizing any bird sounds whatsoever, and stayed that way. Tried restarting, rebooting, deleting and reinstalling, getting closer to bird. Nothing worked. Liked it while it lasted.
  • Start with Merlin, use this as back up

For anyone new to using birdsong recognition apps, Merlin is a much better place to start. However, Birdnet has some more flexibility so that you can go in and specifically highlight a song/cocalization and ask which species is that.
  • Bird sound ID doesn’t works

    Bird sound ID doesn’t work.
  • Not such a great app

It didn’t really work. I mean maybe out of the 5 million bird sounds they couldn’t recognize ours. But it was so clear I don’t know how they didn’t hear it. Maybe you can make it more noisy? I probably spelt that wrong. Well anyways bye.
  • A very well done app!

This is a great app! The analysis is surprisingly accurate, and I love that it pulls from/links to multiple sources of information. It keeps an editable list of observations and now “the birds you’ve seen” - makes a fun game of growing your collection of observed species. As an amateur backyard birdwatcher, this has been a great companion. I’m starting to understand why birdwatching is a “thing.” :)
  • well done!

    Amazing work by Mr. Kahl!
  • Simple

As a bird lover with shaky hands, binoculars are out of the question. This app has really helped me to solve the mystery of birds singing that I can’t see. However I cannot submit accurate feedback unless I see it as well. I think the spectrogram part is really cool 😎, seems pretty sensitive & it’s interesting to capture other non bird sounds out there. There’s a bat in the neighborhood sometimes, so I recorded it but the app couldn’t give an answer, oh well no biggie. Easy to use. Thanks.
