Terrible service

I’m writing this review while standing at a bus stop, where I’ve been waiting for over an hour. The display board keeps showing the next bus arriving in 5 minutes, then 7 minutes, only for it to never show up. This cycle repeats without explanation.

This level of service is completely unacceptable and incredibly frustrating, especially for those relying on public transport. Oxford Bus Company needs to address these issues and improve their scheduling accuracy. Until then, I would not recommend relying on this service.

Having issues

Having issue specifically with the Harwell Campus Oxford Roundtrip ticket. Ticket says no stage coach which google defines as a horse driven carriage. So far so good. App keeps routing me via 300 and ST1 but ticket does not work on 300. Why is that?

Response from developer

Good afternoon, the app will route you to the closest point you have selected in Oxford, so if you generalise your destination, the App will suggest services to get you as close as possible. If you specify where you are going to in Oxford, the App should provide a more clear route. Hope this helps!

Unreliable to deceptive

My bus (the ST1 in Oxford) has had the wrong timetable for two weeks, and this week has had the timetable entirely removed. It’s still running. It’s routinely impossible to track buses - they simply appear sometimes. This is especially the case at starts and ends of the route. Live tracking is unavailable on this app sometimes when it is possible to track them on third-party websites.

Good afternoon, this is something that has now been rectified and the correct information is now being displayed. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Thames Travel buses are amazing!

The app is really accurate, the driver was waiting until the time according to the timetable was spot on, and for a person was running to catch the bus. Lovely, nice people, it’s great to have an option to leave the car home for a day, and take the bus

That's great to hear, we appreciate your positive rating & review!

Fixed at last

The previous version failed draw the route on the map and did not often show the actual position of the buses. This version does Draw the route and seems better. Very poor software version control to have let the old version out in such a broken state. Let's Hope quality control is better from now on. Being sight impaired, the app is very important to me.

Easy to use - live updates are amazing

Using this app weekly, and particularly like the live feature that shows where the bus is. Incredibly useful!

One thing I really miss is the Apple Watch version. Genuinely, the most useful app I have had on my watch so far.

Dear developers, do you have it on the roadmap to bring back? Consider a vote from me to put it back on 👍🏼👍🏼

Good Afternoon, I have passed your feedback on to our data fares and ticketing team regarding an Apple watch version of the app. We appreciate the kind words and positive review!

Review

Great! If I’m out with my gran children and want to know when the next bus is coming instead of checking those old times tables I can use this app, only one thing sometimes buses disappear this isn’t the apps fualt just letting you know.

Response from developer

Thank you for your kind comments, it is good to hear you find the app useful. A bus would disappear from the app either because the signal is lost or there has been a service cancellation following a technical issue or other incident. We are always working to improve the accuracy so thank you for the feedback.

Useful…when it’s not glitchy

The live-tracking feature is really convenient, though not always reliable. Particularly in the mornings, the bus locations jump around - backward and forwards, which is really frustrating if you rely on the app to plan your morning.

Response from developer

Thank you for the positive feedback and glad to hear you are generally enjoying the app. Unfortunately, on occasion, the signal may drop in which case the tracker may not communicate accurately to the app hence the location 'jumping' around. We are continuously working to improve this so thank you for the feedback.

Do not use for travel from the airport!

This use of this app lead to a disastrous experience trying to get from Heathrow to Oxford. The only option it showed for pick up was several miles from the airport, near a business parking lot. We took an airport shuttle there, only to learn the bus stop was a decent walk away, through a weird industrial park. After finally finding our bus stop, the bus drove right by and didn’t stop! We tried to flag it down with no luck. At that point we were stranded several miles away from the airport and out the 5 pounds I paid for a day pass. Overall, using this app wasted 2 hours and resulted in a $140 Uber. Just go to the bus station at the airport and ignore the app completely.

Thank you for the review, however, this does not sound right. All bus stops within Heathrow Airport are listed on the app. If you could email some specific information regarding the journey planner search to info@oxfordbus.co.uk, we will look into this for you.

Don’t use if you are at LHR.

Do not use this app if you are traveling from LHR. It listed the only available route from LHR to Oxford as departing from a bus stop outside of the airport. After spending a long time finding the bus stop (which is basically in an industrial park) we figured we would wait and see if the bus came. While the bus did come, it sped right past us, even though we were waiting at the stop this app told us it would stop at. We sprinted after the bus and waived it down but it would not stop.

This app will lead you astray, stranded, and with blisters from walking around so long just looking for information.

If you are coming from LHR- Go to the central bus station at the airport and get on a bus there instead. Don’t follow this app unless you want to waste 2 hours and £150 on an Uber.
