Twice I have made and shown up for appointments for lab work “requests” that appear in my chart only to find out that they weren’t new requests but completed ones that were never updated as completed. Even after calling the service to try and confirm if this was a current request, subsequently making an appointment, did I not find out until going in person that it wasn’t necessary. Once again I wasted a part of a day. In house lab work should be posted as completed in a patients portal immediately and clearly indicated as such! If a patient is expected to use the portal it should be accurate! All parties, including the patient, staff, scheduling service shouldn’t have to dig for information to determine if labs have been completed. Fix it.
