Was helpful for me, comparing toother apps
  • Less Screen Time More Mindful

My screen time has gone down substantially. In the first two weeks of using I’ve finished my first book in months and I began a journaling habit that I’ve always wanted to pick up (hopefully it sticks). I’ve tried multiple things with my free time I’ve found and my mindset feels more positive. I won’t say it’s entirely this app that’s given me all these things. However limiting my access to social media has been the catalyst for all of these changes and the importance of that cannot be overstated. In todays world free time and even boredom are hard to come by and once you experience them it becomes more apparent how important they are. Downloading this app has been one of the most important things I’ve done this year. I genuinely believe that.

  • Great but too expensive

I've been using the free version for a few days now and I'm loving how it gives me to reconsider my bad habits and instead take a moment to care for myself.

But $45 for the full version is ridiculous. I won't be paying and hope I can find something else that will work that's affordable.
  • App is awful now, doesn’t work properly

I used to use this and like it, I even bought an annual subscription. I opened it recently and there were some demographic questions, then the app froze. I force quit, then relaunched and it froze again. I even deleted the app and reinstalled it, and it still freezes periodically. There is no reason an iOS app should be this buggy and unusable in 2024, especially when charging a subscription price.

  • Life Changing

I deleted the apps like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, but couldn’t stop using YouTube. Since installing this app I’ve been far better with my YouTube addiction, I can’t believe nobody’s thought of this idea before, found out through watching your Y Combinator application video, I look forward to watching your guys continued success!

  • Effective - however I have noticed something

It is really good with monitoring your screen time and is very strict, the breathing at the start helps too. However, when setting the amount of uses per day you can change it daily and not break your streak, if a dev is reading this I would recommend that you get an extra “15 mins emergency or smth” or the uses per day takes affect the next day.

  • clearing my addiction

when i found out clearspace would take away the notifications for instagram too, i was worried i would become disconnected with my friends. i was completely wrong. i’ve never been able to talk so often to the people around me, and turns out i don’t need to text my friends all day to be friends with them! being able to finally have the free time to work on myself while not completely cutting out instagram has been a huge help to my well being. i can actually enjoy being away from my phone and that makes me so happy

  • Tracking could be improved

I found this app on instagram where it was advertising its pushup for screentime feature. I was interested in that so I tried it out and I was disappointed with the result. The app uses a clucky looking kinematic tracker to track your limbs as you pushup. What I was put off was 1.) with my iPad it was really difficult to get the camera to point the right way when I was setting it up. It either made me look upside down or sideways, never right side up. After turning on autolock the problem persisted after some time but eventually was oriented correctly. 2.) You have to be in a certain distance away from your phone to do it. Im tall and have long limbs so I had to get really far away from my phone for the app to properly track my pushups. If I get any closer, my elbows will be out of frame and Ill get no credit for the push up. My apartment isnt the largest so to perform these pushups Id either have to move to certain rooms to do it.

Maybe inconvenience will help reduce screentime but if I have to pay for this app to get its full benefits, Im looking for the accountability and physical activity tracking, and there is another app I’ve found that performs that better.

  • Could be great, but it’s too complicated.

Imagine having to do 20 press-ups and 50 squats just to use your phone. That would be awesome. I would definitely create a habit on the back of that.
Instead I have to create a competition with a friend or something. I did a load of squats, then thought, why not do some press ups too to earn extra minutes. But that deleted the time I’d earned with the squats.
    Basically it’s too complicated.
Keep it simple stupid. Do something positive. Earn screen time. That’s it.

  • Overall pretty good except a few things

I think this app is a great app. Over the last week after downloading, it has really helped me. I think it is an effective way to help stop being social media all the time. I would suggest for them to add a setting to stop all of your selected apps for certain hours of the day. My only complaint is that I wish they would allow you to go off a monthly subscription option. After my free trial ended, I would have liked to be able to have premium for another month. With school starting up soon, I will be busy, so I don’t see myself needing the app as much after that. I don’t want to pay $60 if I won’t use it’s premium features for that long. Overall good and effective app. Just wish it would have a monthly subscription option.
