  • Diverse Programs & Designed for Habitual training

I started utilizing MTNTOUGH because it offered a wide range of training programs, particularly those requiring minimal gear, as I started to seriously pursue a “mountain fitness” lifestyle. I loved how diverse the program offering was and the introduction of “Minimal Gear Daily” provides a daily plan even after someone has completed all the other minimalist programs. I’ve since invested in a full-garage gym to expand into the full spectrum training programs, which are designed to take me around the entire calendar with targeted training. The habit that has been built into my daily life through MTNTOUGH has brought my wife and kids into the mix, with all of them participating at their own level. At the end of the day, no matter where you are with equipment or skillset, MTNTOUGH has a plan and structure that can be tailored to your personal situation.

  • A Must Have For Your Arsenal

I am a veteran, a hunter, and an aspiring mountaineer.

I have been using this app for just under two months. I used to be about a biscuit-shy of 200lbs when I started out. So far, I have lost about 5lbs and gained a much needed strength and stability.

What separates this app from anything else I have ever used is training along with some of the MTNTOUGH athletes - it’s very interactive and engaging. The coaches also have extensive experience, and it shows. The app offers kettlebell workouts and a heavy pack program if you prefer to use minimal gear. They also offer videos on nutrition and recovery and don’t over complicate things. The cardio/high intensity workouts are no joke as well.

I have recently switched to their hunter series to continue building more strength. I’m happy to see there’s a good balance of alternating strength and cardio/recovery days.

I am currently 41 years old. I see myself using this app well into my 50s and 60s. After that, I’m pretty sure I’ll be switching to tai chi app or something. For now, I’m enjoying this app, and I highly recommend.

One insignificant suggestion: I would ask for more videos on recovery. Maybe try showing banded stretches, foam rolling, even meditation or breath-work. From someone that has ever gone on a long trek, an intense work out, or a deployment knows the value of recovery. I’m sure our military and first responders would appreciate that as well.
  • Starting from 0

Prior to Covid I was lean and fit. Working as an ICU nurse ankle surgery, and having everything shut down for a while added up to me losing my gains and motivation. After finally being able to get the motivation to get back in the mountains I found out how much my fitness was lacking. I had been eyeing MTNTOUGH for a while and decided to pull the trigger and make it happen. There is such a wealth of knowledge and fitness programs here that I am blown away. I have only been doing this for a month and am already seeing a huge difference in my strength and mental health. The on ramp courses have been perfect and are challenging in just the right way and not so intense that they kill my motivation. Thanks MTNTOUGH crew. This is such a great platform.
  • Wildland Ready

Firefighting is incredibly demanding on its own. California wildfire season adds another layer of preparation and demand that’s very challenging to train for. This app and this team has kept me going strong for several seasons and I could not be more thankful. Post Season Strength for structural firefighting in the winter months- ✅ Elite Spring to prep for wildfire season- ✅ In season and minimal gear programs for my time on the line- ✅ Mobility and recovery programs ( my favorite and most vital)- ✅ All my bases are covered all year long. The MTNTOUGH team is legit. They’re real people, with real experience in the field, with proven programming. Could not ask for anything more. Thank you for all the hard work you put in. It’s very appreciated. Of all the benefits I’ve received, I’d say coming home to my family healthy and safe is the most significant. You all play a big role in that. I’d say there isn’t really a better reward.
  • Motivating

I’ve been using this app for two weeks and it’s built up my motivation to continuously push myself to a greater athletic ability. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the KB20 program where I get to train alongside and compete with the MTNTOUGH elite athletes. The EAT MTNTOUGH videos offers guidance on how to develop a foundational understanding of my nutritional needs. Dietary goals alone are necessary to helping one achieve their fitness goals and this app doesn’t over complicate it. I’ve been exercising for 3 years and through that time I’ve used the Centr app and Eric Leijas app, which are all great fitness apps. What separates the MTNTOUGH app from the others is the interactive experience. Again, being able to exercise alongside/compete with the other athletes is a huge motivating factor. I’m also pleased to find an app that offers heavy bag exercising programs. There’s a primal value to getting yourself out of the gym and onto the hiking trail, and you don’t need to spend $1000’s in order to do so. You just need a backpack and hardware store. Lastly, I’m 36 years old and I’m trying to build myself up so that I can be in the best shape of my life well into my 60’s ,70’s and 80’s, which for me is achieved through having a active lifestyle that continues outside of the gym. So for me the exercises offered through this app are ones you can continue to do throughout your life.
  • Minimal Gear Daily

I’ve been doing the Minimal Gear Daily workouts from November to now (January) and they’ve been a great way to bring some diversity to my workout regime. After being laid off from fire season every year, I’m back to square one with my fitness and have until the spring to get back to peak level. The workouts on this app cater to people who are trying to push their limits and methodically foster mental toughness, not just look good. The short and sweet “dailies” fit into my schedule of running and rucking in a complimentary way.
I’ve noticed a difference in my fitness and want to explore more programs the app has to offer because I’ve had a great experience with just the Minimal Gear Daily workouts. Stay Dangerous.
  • Best workouts on the face of the planet

Absolutely amazing programs and workouts. All of them are easy to follow consistently and coaches are amazing. I’m in the best shape of my life and have put on 35lbs of functional muscle (I was a skinny chicken leg wimp before). My favorite workouts are called the “warrior” workouts. Very well written workouts and easy to follow that will leave you on the ground exhausted. Every thing translates extremely well to backcountry hunting fitness. I find my self being able to go several ridges further and finally getting into shooting distance of big awesome animals. It’s nice to walk up a steep hill with a loaded pack and not be out of breath. Love it.
  • Three weeks in

So far it seems like a great fitness app. My favorite part is that the workouts are very structured and force me to incorporate all the stuff I’ve neglected for years - flexibility training, core, legs, cardio, etc. The trainers do actually respond to questions and comments, and they give a lot of helpful instruction on form during the workouts. For example, I was never able to do lunges on a regular basis without developing knee pain. Following this app’s guidance, I’ve been doing them almost daily for weeks without issue.

My only gripes are pretty minor. One, I’d like the programs to touch on common pain points or injury risks associated with specific exercises. Not just “do it this way for maximum effect,” but also “do NOT do it this way or you’ll injure your rotator cuff,” and also “if you’re feeling pain, do this instead. I suspect there are lots of people out there like me with injures from years of misuse, failing to warm up/stretch, etc. If a specific exercise is causing you pain, it leaves you in a bind when it’s a key part of the day’s program.

Also, the app could be a little more intuitive about directing me toward the program I’m currently working on. Right now, I’m manually searching the program each time in the app and then selecting the specific episode. A long series like Foundation should be right at the top of your home page with a Continue option. Very minor issue.

All in all, pretty impressed and plan to stay on it for a while.
  • Great programming and content!

Just started a few weeks ago and have loved all the podcast content on mental toughness. Spent the last 8 yrs in special operations and have found the workouts engaging and tough (in a good way). What really stands out to me is the great selection of programs that allow the user to pick based on goals and equipment available to them. Loving the KB20 right now and looking forward to checking out all the programs in the future. My wife gives you guys 2 thumbs up 😜. If I had to critique something, maybe some up beat music, so I don’t have to play my own background music, and a louder timer to compliment. Oh I almost forgot… the nutrition piece is super useful. Even though I seem to have way too many cheat days. Great product. Keep it u
