Terrible app

I’ve never come across an app so bad in the whole time I’ve had a mobile! It refuses to set up. I’ve tried it on different phones but it either goes round in circles or will not accept information. People keep advising to use the “web app”…the what?? I’ve been on the website and there’s nothing there. Tried googling it and nothing. Can’t charge the car without the app and no customer service at the weekend. Great, so I have to pay over the odds at a service station to go anywhere. Very very poor setup.

User interface is clunky and hard to use

In comparison with my cars app this app is hard to use, it seems like the interface was chucked together with not much though. The charging is pretty reliable though.

Internet connection fails

The Indra Lux EV charger is a compact design and meets all my needs for planning and completing a charge. The only problem is that it has a tendency to lose connection to the internet every few days and needs switching off and on again to enable reconnection to the internet

Seems pretty basic

This is my first EV and as such my first EV home charger so having nothing to compare this against - however the app seems pretty basic to say the least.

No option to charge the car to a specific %, you can only add X number of miles so you have to try and calculate how many miles will take you to say 80%. Seem like a pretty basic requirement.

Frequently goes offline. Weekly emails saying that my device has booted on - I didn’t even know it wasn’t on!
I just ignore them now as they don’t seem to make any sense.

Thankfully I’ve managed to change my EV ok without any problems - so far.

I am sure there must be better out there, and if I could go back and choose a different home charger I would … but like I say, I have nothing to compare it against.

I’ll give a 3 stars - as I am feeling generous!

Took effort but Indra got it working

If you are having trouble switching from the web app to this app, as I did, it took me about a week and several phone calls to Indra in order for them to fully migrate my account over. Lovely people in customer service, obviously as tired of fixing whatever caused these problems in the first place, nothing a user can fix unfortunately. Once that had happened the app works as intended. It’s broadly a better experience, the only thing I’d like changed is if you boosted to fully charged on the web app it would switch to idle once the charge was finished, the iPhone app just keeps saying Boosting and I have to check the car manually.

A year on: still work in progress…

An update:
The app has been around for about a year now and the history view is as unreliable as it has been since the start. A little disappointing considering how much time the developers had to improve it.

*********

I’ve been using this app now for 5 days and it seems that the plan to switch off the old, web based app within 3 months is too ambitious as this is only a half finished product. So far I’ve encountered the following bugs: 1. The app would not accept a 2 rate tariff. Each time I updated the rates it would default to a single rate. 2. The functionality of being able to see half hourly usage is gone. The history tab may look pretty in the new app but functionally is substandard. In the old app clicking on individual usage bars would show energy usage in the period (either half hour or an hour) the new app does not provide this. 3. Despite using the app for several days only one day of history has been recorded. Having said that there are additions that show promise. Being able to disable the charger from the app is certainly a good development. Please don’t switch off the old app until you provide a finished product.

Response from developer

Hello, we're sorry that you experienced issues with the Indra App. We are aware there was a temporary issue, however, this has since been resolved and should now be working correctly. Please contact us at support@indra.co.uk if you are still experiencing issues and we will help to find a solution.

Needs improvements

Not the worst app I have ever used but certainly not the best. Using the app to set schedules or boost charging is really it’s only functions I use. The data collection for the charging history is terrible. Lots of it doesn’t work and the data is does show is of little use.

What I would like to see is exact times charging started and finished along with costs. Instead we see a small graph that doesn’t show times very well. The costs can be seen if you are lucky enough to tap on a bar on the chart just in the rite place. The report for a specific day does not work so I cannot tell if that would give the data I require.

One function on the charger I would like to see is the ability to lock the cable to the charger unit. Currently the only time the cable locks is when charging is in progress. I leave my cable connected at all times and someone could simply remove the cable when not in use.

Hopefully some updates are coming to fix these issues.

No lock charger function on app

I’ve had my charger and app for two weeks and so far so good. -The app displays accurate information regarding when it’s a) on line b) in idle mode waiting for best time to charge c)charging - My car has always been charged by the time I need to use it - The app recognised my energy provider tariff and as a result I’ve always been on the preferential EV rate when charging the car. The only problem I have is that you can’t use the app to lock the charger to prevent unauthorised use. I’ve contacted Indra regarding this and there response was swift but seem inaccurate. An Indra employee called Chris replied and advised the following; Hello. If you go to the settings in the app and scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see an option to lock the charger. Kind regard , Chris The problem is there isn’t a settings section in the app. There is a Dashboard, History, Schedule and More. I’ve gone into each of these and searched for settings but can’t find settings. Therefore I believe the information regarding ‘ locking’ is incorrect and you can’t lock the charger. As a result I have to isolate the charger at the isolater in the house. This is fine but means the charger then isn’t linked to the app. I’ve asked Indra for further assistance but have had no response.

Poor

The app is glitchy, is frequently unavailable and there is no customer support or notification when the system will be/is not properly functioning. Customers are left to their own devices to find out what is going on, when the system will be back up and running and source alternative methods of transport in the interim, which is sometimes for days on end.
A very poor product and worthy of a 1 star review.

Pick a different brand.

Continual problems. Charger offline. Incorrect reporting. Tariffs not displaying correctly. The system not knowing what BST is. Unit itself died (yes they did replace, but what a hassle). And now, none of their customers can login to the app. Been over 24 hours so far. I called the support number, who answered saying, “Hello, Indra support”. And then proceeded to tell me nobody could look at the issue until after the bank holiday weekend. So that’s a minimum of three days where no one can login to their Indra app to view data or change charging schedules etc. You’d expect better. I do anyway. I wish I’d never touched this company. Get a Pod Point, Zappi, or really anything other than this. I should add, I was completely on board with the move from Kaluza’s platform to Indra’s own. I was an active member of the beta program and spent much time giving feedback. That good will has now been used up, they continually roll out software which is not up to the job. I see Indra often reply to reviews here apologising for the bad experience. Please don’t feel the need to reply to mine if you read this. Instead just fix the platform!! Disappointing.
