Doesn’t work
The app doesn’t work. It keeps giving me “Your device is offline” error. I can’t unlock using Bluetooth either.Charles Yu
Glitchy - reporting “offline” when connected to internet
Used the app successfully several times but when I was trying to drop off today the app was reporting my device as offline even though it was working for other apps and my Bluetooth was on, and none of the bins were appearing on the app. After troubleshooting for 15 mins I ended up having to leave my compost next to the bin.Sofillela
Cool program
I was initially frustrated that not every neighborhood got curbside pickup like park slope did, but there are so many bins that this is still pretty convenient.
My only wish is that the app at least counted how many times you opened a bin. I’d love to know my impact and have a sense of how much organic waste I’ve diverted!flatbushbranchregular

So disappointing
I was so excited to use the bins and the app. Unfortunately, after several experiences of arriving at a bin shown as available only to be unable to open it with a fully up-to-date version of the app, I have given up. It doesn’t help that the only response I ever get to my reports of problems is that I must be using the app wrong. And it’s disappointing to see that the bad app makes the garbage problem worse, as people pile stacks of scraps on top of the malfunctioning bin.Jerseyfern
Super Effective and Easy to Access
It’s awesome to see something like this in the neighborhood! No more full trash bins with trash all over the place. A simple easy and efficient way of depositing my waste and they’re all within a block of me! I hope this project grows and has more of a positive effect on NYC’s trash problemsYael toon
Great start but some glitches
Love this so excited to see but there are some bugs in the app. I was able to use the bins a few times but it suddenly stopped unlocking the bins. I’ve deleted and downloaded again a couple times but the bins around the neighborhood weren’t unlocking. But I’m looking forward to the improvements still keeping compost bags and will try a few bins the neighborhood before giving up!Felix Perri
Very User-Friendly! Only wish is for more Downtown/Midtown locations
Very simple, user friendly app and compost system! My only thing is that the program still doesn’t have a single downtown/midtown location. It’s an awesome, and much-needed composting program though, so I hope this changes soon!SZ_769
Need to add report a problem feature
Major miss re: reporting a problem. If bin will not open there is no way to report problem with location. Unfortunately, bins do not always open even if they are tagged as available.Bin Boy500
