Great concept, poorly designed app
Shef has tapped into a market with tremendous potential. You will find a good variety of Indian/Asian sub cuisines and while the food is not stellar, the overall quality is pretty good for something that is home cooked.
The thing I hate about the service, is their app. It is such a poorly designed app that even the basic flows don’t work well. It’s annoying to the point that I often don’t order because it’s hard to navigate. I hope the Shefs on the service take a note
of this as it’s directly impacting their business.

Horrible, charged me even after I canceled
Do not use — it is a predatory app! The app never sends confirmations on any orders over email, so it’s hard to know if the order went through or not. The food was bad — over spiced and greasy. So I canceled the meal plan. I didn’t get an email confirmation. And then the next week, I got a notification on my phone that another meal was on the way — even though I canceled it 7 days earlier! Clearly a tactic to pull money from dissatisfied customers.

Very Disappointing Experience
Was excited to try Shef based on a friend’s recommendation. Unfortunately the driver/delivery partner delivered a single item Uber Eats order instead of the meal I had been waiting for all week and planned a dinner with friends around. Customer support was friendly, but correspondence was only through email and may not be immediate. Reporting a problem through the app takes you to a chatbot on their website. Wish there was a way to contact the driver and rate them like on other food delivery app. Like the idea but not worth the risk for me.

Dysfunctional service
The food I ordered the first week of my meal subscription was great but beware of the dysfunctional technology and customer support. I was not able to change the meals I had in my meal plan the second week on the website or app because it kept giving me an error so I decided to cancel my order. However, days later, I was still charged for the subscription despite the order already being cancelled. I tried to reach out to customer service on their website for a refund but they were unreachable. I cannot recommend this service to anyone or be a returning customer if they cannot get their technology or their customer service right. Will be calling my bank to see if they can help because this service is scamming people basically.

App is constantly broken
I love Shef and I love ordering food from local home cooks, but the app itself is terrible. It never remembers orders from my cart after like a day, never tells me if anything is sold out (instead giving blank cryptic errors), and bugs out constantly whenever I try to place an order. I would actually order more from Shef if the app/website actually worked and didn’t randomly clear my cart or break during the order flow. The food itself is amazing though but the buggy app makes it a mission to order food every time.

Good Idea bad execution
I enjoyed the idea of getting meals delivered by home chefs. However, after 3 weeks of trying it out. I will not be using it again.
1) Food selection is minimal as there are not many chefs in the area - and I’m in a big city.
2) During my 3 weeks, they have always missed a meal due to logistic issues - so i would order 6 meals but only get 4 or 5 of them. This is just not acceptable.
3) Meals will always arrived spilled inside the packaging - to the point where i had to throw away food.
4) I canceled the subscription and they still deliver the order! No notification that my order was made or anything until the day of the delivery. I had thought that canceling the subscription over a week in advance should cancel everything, but i guess not. No help from customer support either.

Nice concept / unusable app
Guys, I absolutely love what you do, but the app is a mess. Let me explain
- I ordered 6 dishes from 3 different chefs. One of which was notoriously bad, but I can’t review the chefs or meals individually - only the order itself, which makes almost no sense
- No option to review the order and get the list of ordered meals. Moreover, the information about my order is incorrect - wrong image and incorrect cuisine type.
- Complicated process of order modification . What if I didn’t like one of the meals, or I keen to try something new? Why should I cancel my order in this case?
Hope you’ll find a good dev team to make a new app with better UX

Love homemade authentic regional food
In my area, not many great India restaurants that provides authentic taste. It’s either Americanized or fusion. Especially when I am busy working, with kids hard to find some food that feels homemade and healthy that I can provide my family. Love Shef as it solved my major problem and I am getting healthy homemade Indian food with various Shef options!

Terrible customer service
My delivery address was entered incorrectly, I tried to fix this immediately after placing order but couldn’t edit it. I contact customer care through email and text but they only got back to me after a good 24 hours and said it was too late the change the address now.
Just incompetence from Shef and nothing else!!!
