Good app especially for beginners to personal finance

I only gave it 4 stars because I’m not a beginner to personal finance so at times the app’s language seems a bit condescending to me, but I’m not gonna complain about free money for learning about personal finance and setting financial goals for myself! You do either need to be part of a participating credit union or join one, which can either be free to join if you’re an eligible community member or a small one time fee of $10 to be part of a homeowner’s community, which I joined. It’ll be a good resource for the future when I begin seriously home shopping and find where I want to settle down!

SCAM!!! Don’t waste your time!!!

They make it seem enticing by saying you’ll get $50 when in reality when you go to sign up for one of their 4 credit unions to get approved, under the product section they make it seem like you can choose between whatever checking and savings you want only in fine print it says it is REQUIRED to get one of the savings accounts and deposit $50… this is just a waste of time and so sketchy. They’ll only approve you if you deposit money, no! I still don’t know if you get it after you deposit because I didn’t bother try. Bad company design.

Hi! So sorry you have had a negative experience with Debbie. We try to be as transparent as possible at onboarding and explain that you need to open an account with your partner match to cash out your rewards. Our partners help us cover the cost of your rewards. If you have any ideas of how we can make this clearer please let us know!

Best one I've found so far

Generally don't care for the gamification of such a necessity like financial literacy, but that's obviously a personal preference - and considering I AM gaining valuable insight into my relationship with money, it's not even that big of a con when weighed with the pros of getting my spending and saving habits under control.

The app is fairly easy to navigate without too much fluff, the delayed gratification of cashing out earned points is actually helpful to reinforce the reality of long-term goals (direct deposit into already linked accounts can't come soon enough), and so far customer service has been stellar. I plan on using it as long as it keeps teaching me new things, and I hope some day developers include a more personalized budgeting feature so I don't need to link everything to a secondary app.

8/10 would recommend.

Debbie App

I really like the ease of navigating through the app. I like the idea of getting rewarded for my own savings and paying off my debt. So far I’ve had good luck earning rewards and have already been able to cash out. I also like the modules as they do not take a long time but pack a lot of good information. Overall, I would recommend this app.

Learn and earn

This app is great for defeating debt and growing financial competency all wrapped into a game! It’s still growing so changes and updates are happening all the time, working out bugs such as account connectivity and availability but all good growing pains. Their means to break down financial health and habits in bite-size bits of information keeps you informed and motivated to reach goals and grow in financial literacy for the future. Educate yourself on your financial journey and have fun while doing it!

Easy and fun

I am loving this and wish I found Debbie years ago. It’s simple and fun and it’s giving me some great financial advice. Plus it’s easy to get rewards as I work my way out of debt which, in turn, helps with said debt. Win all around.

Debbie App is Fun

I have been a Debbie App user since March 2024. It has education along with seeing an overall picture to help with your budgeting and finances. I appreciate the app it is fun and challenging at the same time. You can earn your way to receive fun things like cash money along the way. They also work with Acorns if you need a place to save money for retirement which I think is an added bonus. It’s a great app and I hope to see them expand to utilize more bank options too.
