  • For the points

Literally just want the 5 points. I was really excited about this app at the beginning but it really hasn’t done much for me in the last year I’ve been using it
  • I’ve been a Debbie user for 6 months!

Debbie was recommended to me by my credit union, and I’m so glad I decided to sign up. Since January 2024, I’ve been using it consistently and have already received a cashout. It’s been rewarding to learn about good spending habits and financial tips while also earning something for my effort and time.

I also really enjoy the growing community on the Facebook group.

  • Support to Financial Freedom

Need a nudge in the right direction to manage money and build wealth? The Debbie app will do this! Another reviewer already stated that the gamification keeps things engaging and I will add that the weekly learning opportunities are the small steps needed for bigger changes. Consider this an accountability tool that can gently guide those struggling to get out of debt, improve credit scores, or achieve other monetary goals. My credit score has already increased nearly 80 points (I’m over halfway to my credit score goal) and my debt is shrinking every month. The Debbie app is what I need to reach and maintain my financial health through a simple and realistic system of supports!

  • Makes debt crushing fun

Is it odd to say that this app makes debt tackling more fun? Ha! I enjoy the lighthearted vibes of Debbie. The do a good job of educating users, which is the real way to make an impact, right? Also, so encouraging and meets you where you’re at - you’re human, and Debbie treats you like so.

  • Solid App

Small lessons and actions with an opportunity for occasional $$ but more importantly, it helps with being conscious of personal finances while providing educating lessons that will be very helpful for some.

This app is okay. It’s extremely frustrating to work really hard to save money or meet goals only to find out they didn’t count. Or if you have two separate accounts at the same institution with two separate logins, you can only count one or the app will be so hard to deal with and both disconnect randomly. The app rewards you for paying off debt, but mortgage debt doesn’t count. Or at least I can’t figure out how to, even with customer service. It’s difficult to find if you’ve received rewards for monthly goals. Overall it’s not very user friendly, not a lot of options or choices to what counts as savings and such.

Because I don’t have credit card debt, I don’t get rewarded for paying it off. In fact it feels as though I’ve been penalized for paying off debts all at once. Does it make me think twice before pulling money out of my savings to pay for things I saved for? Yes.

It has some useful information and advice as it’s “free” money. I’ve just been thinking about deleting it, honestly. I was waiting until I could cash out before I deleted my account. Maybe it’s just not for me. But if you’ve ever tried really hard to reach a goal and the system slips up or you hit it but not with whatever they decided was the right account, you get frustrated and want to quit the app.

Overall, it has good financial education I just think I already knew much of it.

  • WTF…..

I really wanted to try this app… I was so excited to learn that it existed. I stupidly accepted the credit union they picked for me even though I don’t have an account there, thinking I HAD to pick one of the available ones and not knowing there was a way to bypass the waitlist… I’ve just tried to delete my account to start over; the app has sent me four different codes to verify my identity for deleting my account, I’ve entered them correctly and the app is telling me they’re all the wrong codes. I’m so disappointed and honestly kinda angry. I’ve been trying to create a new account and it just keeps telling me every code it’s sent is the wrong code. I just wanted to leave this here because I really want to use and love this app, and I don’t want anyone else who is just as excited to get screwed like this.

  • Helpful yet slightly confusing

Although the premise of the app and the tips and suggestions that the app provides for managing, saving and budgeting personal finance are extremely helpful and beneficial I’ve found the idea of being able to “cash out” the Debbie points that the user occurs to be very difficult. I seems as though the app will allow you to cash out to your own individual financial institution but when I try to cash out I keep getting directed to create a new account with a credit union and thus have not been able to cash out any of the points I’ve accrued through the app.

  • A Financial Literacy App That Works!

I’ve never done this before, but after using Debbie for a little over a month, I felt the need to contact the Debbie team with the following email:

“I just wanted to say thank you for creating this app. I grew up poor and that was all we knew. My parents didn’t have the knowledge to pass down to me so I made a bunch of financial mistakes that I’m trying to correct now. Debbie makes financial literacy interactive and manageable! I look forward to my check ins and learning about the psychology behind my money habits. Thank you again! I’m working towards lowering an interest rate on my personal loan!”

And this gratitude still holds true to this day. I am thankful that I can also add that I have earned my first $50 payout from Debbie after completing all my weekly and daily check ins and assignments.

I am so thankful for this app!
