  • Not useful for two-camera users

    Outside of the ability to upload to the cloud and the Discover tab, I don’t see anything useful added to this app from the previous one. I shoot with two cameras simultaneously the majority of the time, and because Sony cameras don’t come with GPS built in, I only can add geolocation data to pics taken with one camera and then sync it in post. To me, that’s an unnecessary step to my post production workflow. Please, Sony, think of ways to enhance functionality for users who shoot with multiple cameras simultaneously, such as wedding and event photographers.

    Edit: there’s also no need for a user of the app to have to sign into the account for every little thing. I should just sign in once at app launch, and be done with it.

  • Great but has its issues

    This app is great. I been using it recently to get some self portraits and practicing with it so I can use it with ease.
    The Wi-Fi access point feature is not functioning properly, though I have gone through the steps and I can’t get the camera to connect to my phone even though both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi. I do not like doing the direct Wi-Fi connection because then my phone loses network connectivity while I’m using the camera.

  • Serious bug, unable to access photos

    This is likely an oversight. There is no allow photos access in settings. When I do remote images, no copies of images are saved to photos app since there’s no photo access. The images are still in card so it’s not critical but concerning that this important feature is not tested thoroughly and I expect that to be fixed in next update soon.

    The app seems to be more performant but too soon to say much.

  • DO NOT INSTALL DO NOT UPGRADE ALPHA FIRMWARE

    Unbelievable that Sony can allow such piece of crap under its name. It drags down the whole brand reputation. Incredible that Sony managed to release something worse than ImageEdge (that they sort of fixed after 10 years). This is not even an App, is botched web wrap around useless services, that anyway, doesn’t even work. One star is even too much, pity there’s no zero star.

  • Potential is there

    Took a while to get my camera connected. App looks more modern. Main feature I need is geotagging. Got it working but it doesn’t auto connect when turning the camera on so the app needs to be opened which is annoying. Otherwise, it works. The process to connect a camera to the app without it disconnecting or failing needs to be fixed. Not sure if it has to do with the amount of electronic interference we all have in the home with wifi, etc.

  • What a pain

    Kept sending me to sign in under my Sony Membership. Did that and got sent back to the app which sent me back to sign in under my Sony membership. Couldn’t get put off the loop. Very frustrating.
  • Complete failure

    You would assume a new app transition would mean improved functionality…not the case. First I can log in to my account because the login button just doesn’t do anything. Then I try to simply access photos on my camera…can’t because it tells me to allow “all photos” in the app settings, but there is no such setting available in the app. Completely useless and now I can’t access photos on my expensive state of the art camera…this is in acceptable Sony.

  • Upgrade to 2.0 from 1.10 (not 1.01)

    Sonys chat support was quite good.

    The Sony website describes updating from 1.01 to 1.05, then upgrade to level 2.0 . That means, if you have NEVER upgraded your A7IV, you must use the aforementioned process.

    IF you have previously upgraded, then your A7 IV will have a version 1.10, which confused me a bit. Once Sony Chat Support confirmed I had previously upgraded the Firmware because the 1.10 was showing as the current version, they recommended skipping the 1.05 (attempts by me to load 1.05 were failing) update, and instead perform the 2.0 upgrade immediately.

  • Just not good enough

    I use Sony cameras professionally and love them but Sony just cannot seem to make their software work. I really want to use remote shooting for photography but if I’m at a location for two hours I could easily spend half of that trying to make the app connect to the camera.

    It’s just not good enough Sony, either find a new developer or just admit you can’t do it because changing the name of the app is not helping at all!

  • Useless

    Doesn’t work. Won’t connect. Gives instructions to go to menu items that don’t exist! Simply unbelievable!!
