  • Frustration beyond belief

I have tried so many times to connect to this app with both my A7iv and A7rv. I shoot sport for a large regional newspaper and I want to use the transfer and tagging feature but I can not for the life of me get it to work properly. 👎
  • Works great

Only thing I wish it would do is somehow transfer files faster? But that’s more a limitation of the technology. Maybe when Wi-Fi 6e is standard in the camera.
  • ZV-E1

Finally I succeeded to connect with my zv-e1 by carefully following the instruction of "Performing initial setup of the camera" in the support web. Need to wait for the camera's name appered into the BT accessory selection screen and to cofirm of the paring on both iphone's and camera's screen are tricky part. I fell into the trap many times. They should be more simpler and easier..

  • 7IV and SE

It is required to carefully operate phone and camera alternately for the initial connection setup. It would be much easier if it could be reduced some steps.
Remote control and auto copy to the phone is quite useful for my daily shooting. Hopefully wired connection will be supported.
  • Unreliable location with a7r v

The old IEM app worked great with my a7c for sending GPS information to the camera. That worked completely reliably with my phone in my pocket.

This app never works as well. I have to open the app manually every time I want location information and sometimes manually connect. Hope this gets fixed in future updates, but for now it's a major regression.

  • Remote control

My iPhone11 is connected successfully with A7IV. Needed to remove BT settings manually both phone and camera, though. Remote control function is great and improved from imaging edge. Sometimes connection is unstable and the data transfer is failed. I’ve experienced the same with other companies’ camera and app… That could be how wireless content transfer between phone and camera should be, but it’s painful. I hope this will be solved.

  • Flagship A7RV now can’t connect

I go to use my phone to use remote shooting and what do you know! A new app, a new firmware update… maybe Sony finally fixed their garbage software? Unfortunately it’s even worse than the imaging edge app. The camera shows up on my phone and every time I click it it just automatically fails on the connection. My camera is updated to the latest firmware and I updated both apps on my phone…. This is so pathetic for the price we pay for these cameras. On top with the absence of firmware updates on other flagship models? Really thinking about switching systems at this point

  • Turn off notifications and Always On GPS

Sony really know how to abuse notifications, I’ve had nearly a dozen useless badges and messages this month alone, and the month isn’t over yet. And why does it keep polling my location even when the app has not been used for a long time?

I really only wanted this app for GPS tags and connectivity, but it does neither well. You have to remember to open the app and “connect” to the camera EVERY TIME before GPS tags are recorded, so it’s 95% useless.

Trying to get images from the camera to your phone is a big guessing game. I specified Bluetooth, but it insists on creating a local wireless network over wifi, and you are never really sure how, or even if, you are connected to the camera.

The Creator “features” are no more than a cloud storage upsell, and the UI just smacks of generic low effort. Where is the value in sharing to a cloud platform that nobody else uses? I would like Sony to focus on making complicated things (like connectivity) more simplified, and stop wasting effort and UI real estate on a cloud platform that nobody asked for.

  • As convoluted as ever!!

Not user friendly at all… thats if you can connect! Absolutely rubbish, Imaging edge never had issues!
  • Sony keeps embarrassing itself

Another joke app from Sony. You thought the Sony Imaging App was the worst in the world ? Well, they outdid themselves and managed to make an even worse one. Sony, are you kidding? It is 2023, hundreds of Bluetooth devices connect automatically with the smartphones, but not cameras and not your apps! It is laughable how bad the app is. It really is just as bad as the early 2008 - it is 15 years later! Really really embarrassing for a major tech corporation to have apps this bad and the process of pairing the cameras so unintuitive and flawed. Really, shame on you Sony.
