Version History of Just Run

3.0.1

June 29, 2024

I'm very excited to announce Just Run 3.0! Though you might not notice much difference at first, the timer code has been rewritten from scratch to future-proof the app for the newest iOS versions. This will make the app use less battery, while also being more reliable in the background. On a personal note, this update is the result of months of work, research and testing. It wouldn't have been possible without your Premium purchases, which meant I could take time off from my day job to focus on Just Run. Thank you all so much for your incredible support, it's hard to express how much I appreciate it! - Gary

I want to keep Just Run as super simple as possible, but sometimes I get requests for features that sound really useful. Striking the balance between simple and useful is tricky, so I've decided to add some "Feature Previews" to let you decide which features should be made permanent. If you have Premium, you can try these now! Your feedback is super important, because it'll determine whether the features become permanent or not. Please email me at run@jupli.com to let me know what you think! This update adds two Feature Previews: - Live Activity: See the workout timer on your Lock Screen (and in the Dynamic Island on supported iPhones) - The Live Activity requires an internet connection during your workout to stay accurate - Beep Robot Trainer Voice: Plays a simple beep instead of a voice during your workout To try out these features, check out the Feature Preview section on the Settings screen. I look forward to your feedback!

Description of Just Run

Just Run is a simple workout app to help you get running. I made this app to get myself off the couch and start running to get to 5K. Stick to the workout plan, and you'll be able to run 5K in 9 weeks. It really does work! If you're already able to run 5K, Just Run also has a 6-week plan to help you get up to 10K! WORKOUT PLANS: - Zero to 5K: Gets you from absolute zero running experience to 5K in just 9 weeks, with three 30-minute workouts per week - 5K to 10K: If you can already run 5K, or have finished Zero to 5K, this plan gets you to 10K in only 6 weeks FEATURES: - Target dates for each workout, calculated based on your progress, and optimal exercise days - Choose from multiple trainer voices, which tell you exactly when to run and walk - No ads! Ads are no fun, so Just Run has no ads! - Works with music, audiobook and podcast apps - Just Run will briefly lower the volume of the other app when prompting you to run and walk, so you'll never miss a prompt - Runs in the background. Turn off your screen, or switch to another app, and you'll still hear the run and walk prompts - Upgrade to Premium to get more trainer voices, multiple theme options, and to support continued development of Just Run I'd love to hear how you're getting on with Just Run. Reviews of Just Run

  • Great app, kept me motivated til the end!

I’ve used Couch to 5K in the past and the Just Run app was a great free journey as I (yet again) get back into running. I liked that the challenges were time focused, rather than distance focused. I built up to the “Just Run” workouts with a couple months of just walking and tracking my daily steps (with Fitbit + StepBet apps). So gradually working short runs into that routine felt very doable. Because the weekly/daily challenges were challenging without feeling impossible, I also left each work out with a huge sense of accomplishment. That’s not to say that I was able to complete every workout, so don’t feel discouraged if some days you feel stronger than others. This app helped me focus on the bigger picture and celebrate a string of wins, accumulating over time, rather than beat myself up when my body was dragging. I highly recommend this app to anyone interested in easing their way back into running. I completed my 2nd to last workout tonight, running 30 full minutes nonstop! I can’t believe that I was able to get here from just incremental bumps each week. I remember a time not so long ago when 10 minutes felt impossible. Thanks, Just Run app, for helping me to challenge and push myself to a fitter version of me. Signed up to complete my first 5K since 2018 in October. I can’t wait to begin the 5 to 10k journey!
  • User friendly

Loaded this due to the zen labs C25K charging these days. But this app is so perfectly efficient, I’m thankful to have made the switch!!! Did my first workout, loved the app. Already have recommended to friends. I am using this to work on speed training. I am capable of running a 5k now, but I have a finish time goal I’m working towards. So, I’m doing this app and working on pushing myself to go faster pace on the “run” prompts than I usually would for a steady 30:00 run. Looking forward to following the plan! To the designer of the app, God bless you for making this free. Seriously, life is so expensive right now, this was such a treat for me. God bless you for your generosity in making this app accessible to everyone.
  • Awesome app!

I don’t remember how i found this app but I am glad I did! I am almost 40, 320lbs+, and work a desk job. I needed a change, and this app helped tremendously! For a time i was using the timer on my phone to time my interval runs. I found this app and fell in love with it instantly. Just do what it tells you (take rest days if you need to) and you’ll be golden.

Only complaint I have is that it assumes a 10 min/mile pace. There is no tracking of your actual pace to adjust the run times. But not a big deal, just run longer if you need to hit more distance.
