  • Bad timing for Curt to move to Lippert.

I m on vacation 5 hrs. from home and I went to install my echo and start it with my phone and guess what! Lippert takes over and I can’t log in to my echo. I followed the directions from Lippert on how to install their program and again, guess what! When I get to the place where it says agree to the terms, I pushed to agree and nothing happened! Think I’ll go have a regular brake controller installed on my truck. Thanks for screwing up my trip home Lippert.
Just as bad as your slide mechanisms on my former 5th wheel with the too small of motors you used!!!

  • OneControl Curt Echo

Worked once. About 3 weeks later couldn’t get the unit to work. Said it was paired but the app couldn’t adjust anything for the brakes.
Worked with the techs all day, sent log files and then all help stopped. $440 paperweight.
Would not recommend buying this at all.
  • Ways around this mess

We used the Echo app last year and the brakes worked very well. However this new app is problematic to say the least.

The app doesn’t allow you to add the location permissions on the small screen of an iPhone due to its design flaw. However it does work on the larger screen of an iPad. So I downloaded the app on my iPad and then used my iPhone as a hotspot for the iPad to run off of.

In the app I had to drop the sensitivity and output amounts of the brakes from the automatic setting to a very low setting. I drove one block with the preset settings and I had grabbing and smoking brakes.

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any urgency on the designers part to fix the iPhone compatibility issue so I’m ranking this app as low as possible. But for anyone like me that is stuck using it, try my suggestions. It worked for me but I only have a lightweight, small trailer.

  • Useless

The Echo app worked fine. This new app is complete garbage. I can’t get past setting up an account. Completely useless.
  • Why can't this be resolved??

The Curt app worked why did it need to change or why couldn't they use that setup on this app especially for the "echo" this is supposed to be a safety device called "brake controller" and not having the app pairing well yes it might still have either A the default settings and no drag or B default settings and too much drag and may prematurely wear the brakes or cause a failure by overheating.. also by not pairing you don't have that self braking if your trailer starts swaying.. obviously who ever is working on this app doesn't have a safety conscience of others.

  • Works as it should

At first I was concerned when I set this up because I was getting a message that the controller was not found after pairing. But once a trailer was connected, everything worked fine. Yeah, it’s a little annoying that the Bluetooth connection has to renegotiate anytime the app is not in focus, but it reconnects quickly enough. The controller continues to operate and trailer brakes still work under the last known settings.

  • Brakes work, definitely maybe

The previous version was far better. The app frequently loses connection and every time I open the one trailer profile I have configured I get popups and this is frequently required. I understand the need for them but every time I open a profile is not necessary.
  • Worked fine for two years, manufacturer pushed this update, now my $300 controller is a paperweight.

What is there to say? It simply does not work.

It was working fine until the Kurt echo brake controller app automatically updated and stopped working, just giving me a screen that says to download this app. This app doesn’t work, it just won’t acknowledge the Bluetooth connection. There doesn’t seem to be any way to fix it. The app cannot be connected to the brake controller because it won’t connect to Bluetooth, and there is literally no troubleshooting process, the app just will not touch Bluetooth and there’s no way to bypass it. no apparent pathway to customer service either. So I guess I’m just out the value of this thing and stuck on the side of the road because of a stupid unwanted unnecessary software update.

  • What the heck happened?

I only recently got the Echo, and the app, though I wasn't thrilled with it, was at least working. Now that I'm trying to use the controller for the first time in a few weeks, something has gone wrong. Proportional braking works (applies brakes) ONE time after I open the app and connect. After that, nothing. The circular brake application meter does not activate and brakes don't seem to work at all! And no notice of dropped Bluetooth connection. I guess it could be a hardware problem, but given the reputation of this app, it seems the most likely culprit.

And Curtis is ruining the reputation of a once well regarded product by passing it off to this flawed app. Very disappointing.

  • 3 Pop-up Acknowledgements Every Time I Open The App!!!

Why does the app require 3 pop-up acknowledgements to be acknowledged every time the app is opened? After setting-up the brake controller with the app, every time the app is put in the background and then brought back to foreground it requires the user to acknowledge 3 pop-up acknowledgements. This is dangerous, developers should be designing their apps to reduce distracted driving, not create distracted driving by requiring the user to acknowledge 3 pop ups. No other app requires the user to acknowledge something they just acknowledged 10 min ago. Please fix this.
