  • Continuously disconnects very unsafe

    Had to download this new app right before a trip without warning so I was unable to test it out prior to getting on the road. I didn’t think this would be an problem because I never had a issues with the brake controller on multiple cross-country trips or on rough terrain. However, on 3 hour highway trip the brake pad continuously disconnected and at one point left me without brakes on my trailer while coming down a mountainside. Hoping they ca. fix the issues quickly or I am going to be left looking for other options on a product that used to work so well.

  • Horrible use of Bluetooth Bordering on unsafe

    No Bluetooth device I’ve ever used requires the app to be on screen in order to stay connected until this app. Minimizing the app to say access your GPS app disconnects the Bluetooth controller requiring Bluetooth to reconnect when you bring this app back on screen. The delay and reconnecting Bluetooth could lead to a very dangerous situation if you’re in need to hit the manual override on brake controller. If the app is on screen or in background Bluetooth should always stay connected. What would be a great addition would be if you could use the split screen function like video apps so that the break override could stay onscreen when using GPS or audio apps. With the way the app currently works I’m not sure if I feel safe using it. It’s sad I’ve gotten one season out of using the Bluetooth brake controller.

  • Won’t stay connected to a working system

    I used the prior app for years with no issues ever. I got my trailer out of storage, had no cell service, and like many others, was forced to drive without the manual brake controller because the app was unexpectedly deactivated. The new app has been consistent problems. My towing system (lights, backup camera, etc) is working normally, everything is connected fine - except this app says the 7 pin is disconnected and I have NO way to manually control my trailer brakes now! I bought this brake controller with the promise of good app support - I want a replacement either a product or an app that works!

  • Junk new controller App nearly ended my trip

    I paid $200 for a controller I can not control! App worked fine before! New App says my location is off and won’t allow me to click thru it, tap button and does nothing. I nearly cancelled my vacation because I did not feel safe. I road tested my trailer brakes about set to where before. I can not believe you made the app for a safety device inoperable. I trusted Curtis for my entire vehicle tow conversion from hitch to harnesses to brackets and adapters and additional lights. The controller was the most expensive part and Curtis really screwed up.

  • Give us back the Echo App!

    We purchased this controller recently and only had the opportunity to use it when bringing our new camper home from the dealership. Two weeks later, I couldn’t find the app on my iPhone and we were packed and ready, but no breaks for the camper. Had to go back to the App Store and open the app from a new place, but it also doesn’t stay on my phone. As others suggested, there are definitely some issues that need to be addressed with the connectivity and the app but also functionality. Please fix this technology!

  • Garbage

    Complete garbage of an app….first time using it today for camping season. Forced to switch from old app which there was nothing wrong with and was the best wireless brake controller.
    Now with this app, it loses Bluetooth connection if you don’t have the app open at all times when driving, even though the update a month ago says it was fixed. I have a one year old camper and the app pops up with an Error say Electric Overload (Check trailer wiring) This never happened with the old app. IF this app was Beta tested, either you need to fire all of your beta testers or never use those beta testers again.

  • This this a joke

    I have had the curt echo brake controller for 4 years. It worked great and the original app was safe and did not collect your personal data. Now I go to log in to use my camper and it says it doesn’t work anymore and I must download this app before I can use the product I have owned for 4 years. The only issue…. This new app unnecessarily collects your personal data and requires to know where you are to be able to use a trailer brake controller, is this a joke! Curt has lost my business from this little trick! DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP IF YOU VALUE YOUR PRIVACY. Looks like I’m just going to install a traditional brake controller on my vehicles now. That way I don’t have some company snooping on my private activities and selling my info to make more money… talk about corporate greed!

  • Works fine

    Bought first brake controller 2 weeks ago and app works fine once trailer is connected (green light on brake controller). Will constantly say it lost connection if light is solid blue but will work just fine when trailer connected.

    Had to change sensitivity to 1 from default of 5
  • Data Mining Junk

    Zero stars. Zero respect for customers. It’s been said. I’ll repeat. All packed up, hooked up, ready to go and… plug in the Echo to truck and trailer to hit the road. Told to download new app in a place with no WiFi and bad cell. Why didn’t Curt tell us about this app change? Finally got the app downloaded and WHAT! You want me to turn on location services for trailer brakes. So I register, give my location and connect. Multiple blue tooth disconnects during 2 hour trip. Only good thing. The controller seemed to remember it’s settings even without comms and brakes worked. Fire market research and marketing teams. They don’t know what most customers want. Purchased goods that work as advertised and maintaining control of our privacy Like who I am and where I am.

  • The update makes the break controller unusable

    In our first camping trip for this year after the winter season, I was asked to upgrade to a new app and everything started not working after registration and set it up at the beginning of the trip. For some reason, it does not recognize the trailer anymore even when the 7 pin cable is connected and the LED stays solid blue all the time not turning into green at all. It was very strange and after hours of troubleshooting (deleting the profile and app, redownloading and setting it up on other phones), we had to gave up on using our trailer brake and decide to finish our trip without it. How come the company fails to test the app if they force the user to switch to the new app? Why we can’t use the old app even if we wanted to? Don’t understand what you guys are thinking and why you risk customers’ lives with such a hasty decision? We now have to look for a new trailer brake controller!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡
