Concerning
Please don’t ask for my number and dob just to see my spot in line. If you can tell me that no third party accesses my data besides the restaurant and you in the developer response then I’ll happily delete this.Developer Response
Hi JSChang, We understand your privacy concerns. Rest assured, no third parties access your data; it's only shared with the restaurant and us for the waitlist process. Additionally, providing your date of birth is optional. We aim to keep your data safe and respect your privacy. If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to our support team. Thanks for your feedback. Best, Minipass👮♂️👨⚖️👎👎👎👎
Hey folks, at least buy me a drink before asking for my age, number, and name! Just kidding, but seriously, I’m a bit concerned about Minipass asking for lots of personal info—like birthdays and phone numbers—just to check where I stand in line. I’ve already reached out to the restaurant owners, specifically Liu Yishou, to ensure they understand the potential risks and legal implications under California’s strict privacy laws. I’m keeping a close eye on how they handle this and ensuring they comply with regulations like the CCPA. As customers and users, it’s our job to make sure our personal information is protected. Keep an eye on this one, and think twice about what information you share. Stay informed and stay safe! PS Developers, under CCPA, I need answers on: 1.Why my date of birth is necessary. 2.Who accesses my data and if it includes third parties. 3.Confirmation that my data has been deleted as requested. PPS Liu Yishou offers a free plum drink for making a social post. I’m assuming this review counts, so I guess they did buy me a drink after all! 😂🍻Show lessForce to install the app & ask my identity
Like others said, the link in the text message will ask you to download the app. And on the app page, it requires you to sign up, with your phone(I stopped there and deleted it immediately. So I don’t know whatelse information app asks)
Also saw some reviews asking for the web page. As a tech guy, I can tell you it doesn’t require much work to build a simple web page that shows how many folks are ahead of you. The app owner forces users to download and register so they can have more App Installs and Monthly Active Users. :(Show lessDeveloper Response
Hi Gilbertizer, Thanks for sharing your feedback. The phone number is required to locate your position in the waitlist, display all your waitlist and reservation in one place (instead of multiple web pages), and ensure stream-lined communication with the restaurant. While we understand that a webpage might be simpler, the app offers much more, including deals, promotions, and other rewarding content that make it a valuable tool beyond just waitlists and reservations. We're always exploring ways to improve user experience, so your input is invaluable. If you have any more questions or concerns, we're here to help. Best, MinipassSaves Time and Stress
