Not a private diary
Not only that, somehow if you turn on the Journaling Suggestions by accident, this app can access your phone Activity, Media, Contacts, Photos and Significant Locations. Why would you need to access my contacts at all? Also, isn’t a journal supposed to be private ?
This app has 4 parts:
Journal - basically a place for storing “stuffs”. Talk into it to get transcribed texts. What’s new about voice to text? Many apps offer that for free. A good replacement is to use any free messaging app to send a message to yourself.
AI friend - the worst part. chat capability is much worse than any free ai such as talkie / character ai. whoever pays for that may not know there are free and better options out there. Also, why is there this feature to begin with? Just for the sake of having an ai chatbot?
Gallery - just a calendar display of past entries. Many messaging apps have that also. Any journaling app would also have that.
Insights - again, there are better mood trackers out there and they’re free. I don’t know who would pay that amount of money ? Also, they had the “AI friend” send me a letter speaking non-sense.
I don’t know why Apple would recommend such an app. I suspect that this app being “#1 app of the month” is not even real. Or, maybe they’re spending much ad money to get downloads.
Response from developer
Hi Char.ng, thank you for trying it out and for providing the details of your experience. Lifelight is indeed a private journaling app, and if you enable the journal suggestions feature, it enhances your experience by supporting activities, media, fitness, and more. This feature leverages the latest private access provided in iOS to developers by Apple, enabling more capabilities while keeping your information safe and private. By turning on journal suggestions, you allow iOS to access the specific information you mentioned. (It also enables contacts, as it’s provided by the API by default, but no one can access any journal suggestions data unless you specifically selected. This rule is the same for all developers using this API.) Lifelight is also featured among apps that deeply integrate the journal suggestions API, supporting music, fitness, Live Photos, and more. To address your question about whether we paid to be featured, to our knowledge, the App Store doesn’t offer paid placements. In fact, Lifelight has been featured over 100 times in various sections of the App Store. While it may not fit your specific use case, you’re welcome to turn off any settings you may have accidentally enabled. According to user interviews, many people love the ability to listen to their favorite songs, record their thoughts on their latest run, and more. We’re also actively working to improve AI performance and enhance AI capabilities. Parts of the Lifelight app actually use the same API as the apps you mentioned. However, as you noted, there’s still a lot of work to be done. Thanks again for your patience and feedback. We would love to share more about how it works while keeping your information private. If you have any further questions, our support email is: lifelight_help@outlook.com.

友友你好呀,这一般是第三方软件的编码问题,可以在iPhone自带的numbers App中打开。如仍有疑问可以添加开发者微信:xloran,联系我们为您解决,再次感谢您的支持。
