Fantastic app
Has been a great app in keeping me up to date with all the new releases and opinions on different movies, TV shows and games. App froze a couple of times when I first downloaded it, but has been completely smooth and faster than the website since then.
A step back
I enjoyed that last edition of the app more. I liked the home page much better when it had the main headlines scrolling on top of the Paige and the rest of the stories below it. Also searching a game is much more cumbersome. Before I could search a game and pull up the game’s main page and within that I could read the brief description, find the review, see the release date, and if I wanted to dive drape I could go to the wiki page. Now the wiki page is the first thing that pops up and I have to click though a bunch of tabs to get where I really want to go. It’s confusing and I don’t like it

An app for adverts
Riddled with adverts and to have one play every time you want to watch a video is extremely frustrating. Redirecting ads appear every couple of months which take you to a external site even when you don't even touch on the banner. Same news stories appear on “Latest” feed for weeks and no option to delete or remove. Video player isn’t stable and will play the first two minutes of most videos in poor resolution. Overall a very frustrating experience

Getting better
App is gradually improving with my previous complaints now addressed, namely filtering by platform has been added and you can now follow games and see pages specific to them, nice.
Loses one star due to excessive forced viewing of ads before each video, often the same one repeatedly. I know it’s a free app and ads are necessary, but sometimes the ratio of ads to content is annoyingly high and puts me off browsing.

Response from developer
Thank you for the bug report! We've identified an issue with older phones (4s, 5, 5c) and iPads (iPad 2, iPad Mini) are working to address it.
Good but could improve
Well first I’d like to say I’m great full for what your company and employees do for the gaming community as a whole. With that said your app could do with fine tuning. After my initial choice of content it’s hard to go back change my choices. A better tutorial on your settings would be nice, and also a way to go back a see that tutorial again if I need it would be great. As far as the content of your product. I would say it’s excellent from my per view. Only negative I could give would be that most of your reviews seem to start from a personal view point and stay that way until the end of the article. It might just be my personal view but a review is supposed to be facts and info followed by a personal opinion at the end, maybe two or three different opinions. Well sorry for the long winded review. I hope someone reads this and I hope I see some of feedback from this as well. Sorry for poor sentence structure. Lol 😆

Seems like they abandoned app support
Videos will often times not play properly. An add will play for 30 seconds, and audio sometimes starts but no video. Have to reload, end up having to watch another 30 second add, and I usually lose interest in co tonguing by then.
Also, the comments sections of almost every article never loads. I get just a black screen usually 9 out of 10 Times trying to look at comments on ANYTHING. It’s been like this for months, so it seems like the developers of the app, and IGN in general, doesn’t care about the app or wether it works properly or not. They get add revenue from it still since those seem to work great, so no need to fix any other issues evidently.
All of these issues are on my iPhone 7 Plus so it shouldn’t be a compatibility issue.

Too much video, and not much gaming news
I did a review a few years back on the IGN app being too video focused. Some people still like to read! However, my concern over the most recent revamp is the filters are not very effective. I'm interested in games, not comic books, not TV deals, and not movies. In fact in opening the app today, i had to move past 3 podcast stories to get an actual article. These may include video games news, but I'm not here to listen to podcasts, we do that in a different app folks. Let me filter by games, but all the stories are still stuff unrelated to games. Unfortunately IGN is more concerned about monetizing the app by having us click on these purported 'deals'. For those interested in news about video games, i would suggest Apple News app and just set 'video games' as a favorites.

Presentation better - but quite a few issues
Overall presentation is good - the white background is better, but quite a few niggles.
When you read any article, the article reduces in size - so you can easily see what you've read - but the original size of article feels too big (on iPad).
It's not so much an issue now, but just after update, videos weren't playing.
There doesn't seem to be a way to filter reviews - so you have to scroll through everything to find the ones you're interested in. Then when you do read (and it reduces in size) the review scores are no longer visible. Just doesn't feel as good for a quick scan of reviews 'I'm interested in'.
I agree with some other reviewers - a landscape viewing option would be appreciated - perhaps with articles in two columns.
* Last two days, app keeps crashing. Almost opens and tries to load stories - then keeps quitting. Getting really frustrated since the new update.
Shows some promise, but if I can't even open it! One star from me.
UPDATE: App is now a lot more stable. Seems to be working quite well now - not so concerned about opening and have it crash on me. Landscape mode is also a good update.
Would still like option to filter reviews just for systems I’m interested in.

Advertising has broken app
I’m at the point where I have now deleted the app as using it has essentially become wholly frustrating. Ads placed in between articles will instantly play if your finger so much as brushes them. You then have to close it and the audio has highjacked your previous output (music for example). You then have to go back to the music app, restart playback, go back into the ign app whereby it will almost certainly start playing another ad as soon as you try to scroll through articles.
Currently it’s the PS4 Gran Turismo ad but it’s been others before.
An app truly made unusable to due overzealous advertising

Egregious advertising
Some good content and news stories but having to watch the same advert every single time you open a video without fail is so frustrating. If they were different adverts it wouldn’t be as bad but it’s at a point where I’m put off from opening the app and put off from buying whatever is being advertised. At least make it so that the advert only shows before one in three videos
