Ah, the HP-41c… my best friend for ten years!
Ah, the HP-41c… my best friend for ten years! What a terrific calculator this was… and i41CX+ is a fantastic emulator, perfect down to the smallest detail. If you like HP calculators and RPN, and are somewhat familiar with how this calculator works, you'll love this. If you are not familiar with RPN and are willing to learn, this is a great learning tool. If you're just looking for a calculator, there may be better choices out there that do not use RPN.
What's RPN? It's "Reverse Polish Notation". Instead of typing 1+1=, you type 1 (enter) 1 (plus). There's no equal sign on the keyboard and there are no parentheses keys in RPN. To be honest, the best reason to get an RPN calculator when I was a teenager is that you never had to loan it to anyone, because nobody could figure it out :) But once you learned how to use it, it is much more logical and actually easier to use than the more common algebraic calculators.

Overpriced
This app is way overpriced! Don't be sucked in thinking this is going to solve all your problems.
The interface is about as user-friendly as a stone tablet! Do yourself a favour, buy something else.

Works great
Fantastic app and always in my pocket. This app is more powerful with more features than the original calculator and access to the hp resource program's a bonus
Love it

Perfect!
I see some 4 star ratings here, and honestly I cannot fathom why anyone would rate it 4 stars. The software is marketed as a HP41C emulator plus CAS functionality in which it simply has no rival.
Absolutely stunning
This is an absolutely stunning and precise copy of the HP-41CX and its printer. It *minutely* imitates the HP-41CX in every respect. Sure - it's a relatively expensive app but this is the absolute Rolls Royce. The attention to detail is beyond belief. Let me give a trivial example. When you use the 'virtual printer' and want to tear off some of the printer output, yes, it makes a 'tear' sound. The printer output can be saved to email , JPEG....
I simply cannot imagine the time and effort that went into this app. I am a 'calculator geek' and, by far, this is the absolute winner.
So, if you've *ever* used an HP calculator you need to get this app.
I need to say, of course, that I have no connection with the author or their company but, trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Unbelievable
This app cost 25 dollars and it was the best money I have ever spent. 10 years ago I watched my HP41 go flying off the hood of my work van onto route 70 and I almost cried. I never thought I would get another one. This app is so cool and so true to the original calculator that is is worth twice the price. I use it on an iphone4 and it loads in 2 seconds. There have been posts here that it takes too long to load but I have not experienced that. I am a construction surveyor and I HIGHLY recommend this app. The 41 is in my opinion the best calculator HP ever made and I include the 48 in there and this guy did a superb job of recreating it. Buy this you will NOT be sorry.

The ultimate calculator of all time
If you ever owned an HP41, or an RPN calculator, this is even better than the HP original.
And it makes your iPhone programmable :)

Great app
Brings back old memories
Great app but overpriced
I bought a REAL HP 41C (41CV actually) about 30 years ago. I still have it—it works great. I figured that "buying" another one after all that time was warranted, but it was hard to do at this price. There is a FREE app that does RPN just as well, it just does not look the same. If you never owned an HP and have no sentimental attachment, I'd use that one and save the money.
Performance: Works well but in landscape you have both the calculator and the printer on the screen at the same time (I also own the printer). I'd rather just have the calculator 99% of the time so this is annoying. In tall you get just the calculator, but it is too easy to flip the screen and get the printer back—very annoying. Make this a big button at the top of either screen (E.g., "-Printer & Calculator | Calculator Only-") so it is hard to hit by accident and stable. Otherwise, no complaints so far except for they price. I like being able to see the registers at the top of the screen, my 41cv did not do that but the cx probably did.
Get me a 12C, 15C, and 16C, and I will buy those for 10 bucks each (max).

Nostalgia Value Only
i41CX isn't so much a calculator as a calculator emulator. Many of the features touted are really throwbacks to an earlier era of limited memory and power that are no longer valid in the iPhone/iPad era. Features like a paper tape, single line display, and a limited register are anachronisms that have no place in a fully functional scientific calculator application. In fact most of these features are no longer even features of modern physical scientific calculators. Why the developer has chosen to reach back through time to slavishly reproduce features that have long been discarded in modern scientific calculators I will never know. What I do know is that the result is an application whose only real feature is frustration.
