Battery draining
Like the app to try and keep up to date with local news (although some articles are hardly news or top stories).
However, the app drains my iPhone battery in seconds. You can literally see the percentage dropping every 30 seconds or so. I’ve got the latest software and app updates, have tried using the dark mode option and also turned the screen brightness down. Sorry to say that this puts me off using the app now.Show lessPJB70
Worst and slowest news app out there
MEN is the worst news app going. It’s next to impossible to use and just freezes constantly so you can’t scroll down.
What ever you do don’t bother playing any videos. Whenever you do you have to spend ages watching two separate advert videos before the news video, and even then it only works half the times you try if your lucky, and this is all even when connected to high speed WiFi or full signal 4g.
There’s no other app about that makes me so frustrated and angry than the MEN app. I’m on the verge of deleting it. The ONLY thing that’s making me keep it is because I want to view local news on my phone.
Someone really needs to sort this app out. If it wasn’t for how slow the scrolling is and how it keeps freezing on scrolling despite the latest version, and all the adverts, it would actually be a decent app.Show lessBenmancxc1243
Annoying
I’m getting quite sick of this app now. Update after update and still it’s a million miles away from other apps. The last upload said the playing videos issue was resolved. Not true!!
The videos very rarely play. Yet most headlines are... watch this. It’s funny the ads play with no issue before the video.
On top of all this the app crashes and freezes more than a crash test dummy in a Tesco freezer van!
I’ve spent my whole life reading the Manchester Evening News even now when I don’t live in Manchester and over at my home in LA but your making it not worth it. I’m not fighting for the news. Take a look at the sky news app and just start a fresh. I really hope you do get it right eventually but if the next upload is the same I’ll make reading the MEN a thing I used to do.Show lessDanny2k.15

On our test devices, the videos are playing as intended so it could be something that's happening on your device or even an edge case that we couldn't reproduce on our end. In order to investigate that better, could you please message us at mobile_app_feedback@reachplc.com and give us more details of this video issue you're experiencing? How often does that happen? Does it happen on all videos? Did you notice any pattern? Does it happen on Wi-Fi, mobile data or both? The same goes for the freezing issue. Be as detailed as you wish all small piece of information can help us to identify what could be causing it. I used to like the MEN as a paper as I found it quite informative for sport and news in my local area. However now it is full of quite frankly nonsense. I do not care about Tanya Bardsley’s new hair style or the fact that Kym Marsh is stepping in for Lorraine on ITV...how is that newsworthy, it’s utter tripe!!! The articles are not even articles half the time, it’s basically just copy and pasted from Z list celebrities twitter or instagram accounts.
It also gives a platform for people to comment on certain articles which is quite frankly dangerous, some of the hate speech I have seen and disgusting comments on there is worrying.Show lesswinehouse66

When you click on a notifcation of an article, it takes you to the app but then doesn’t upload anything. Just either the home page or a blank page.
Also, 90% of videos do not work!!! Clicking on play is not enough for this app. You have to click on play, then realise the video isn’t starting, then close the app, then remove it from recent apps, then reload the app, and then MAYBE the video will play on the second attempt...

I was happy to read that you address the battery bug, but sadly this is not the case. I still having problems with battery drainage and it’s getting worse. And since updating this app my phone gets really hot in 1 minute during reading an article. I let it cool down for 10 minutes and when I read another article it’s get really hot again. This app used to be really consistent and stable but now it’s just unstable. I don’t recommend reading breaking news if you’ve got a battery is low cause this app will kill itShow lessThe kid with no fear

Hi, We're doing improvements related to this issue on every update, the next one that's coming soon you'll notice a significant difference. We also recommend closing the app fully when you're not using it instead of leaving it open in the background (this is what drains the battery the most with this issue). The app is always freezing and lagging. It takes forever to load an article up. Most of the articles are months old. Articles don’t seem to have been proofread, as there is a huge amount of spelling errors. Don’t understand the point in being able to select what areas you want to see news from but you still end up with articles from elsewhere. You can’t read or leave comments anymore. Very slow
I find this app very slow to update to the latest news . Also the reporters are more interested in where people live ie upmarket...... so much for their houses !!!! Who cares just write the news as it happens .... I’ll probably go back to just buying the paper for the crosswords .cornwall28
Was Good - shocking now
I used to enjoy looking at articles on the Manchester Evening New App. Now, I’m afraid, it’s not worth looking at - only a few news stories and that’s it. I just looked at one article, thinking it was new...and some comments were 95 days old. Also noticed that Bury had just been promoted!!MSEYS
