This is an excellent app. I use to help pair wine with food. However, there is so much info in the app it is really good as a learning tool about wine, how to choose wine and the wine growing regions etc.
I recently contacted the developers about an unusual wine variety that I have via the built in email facility. I got a very speedy really helpful reply, so I think four and a half stars.Show lessGriff909

Easy to use and very informative. Extensive information on varietals plus lots of relatively unheard of grapes; however, it is missing vast portions of the wine world such as any information regarding sparkling, rose, and fortified wines. Still, I find this app very useful and surprising at times.
I would like to see a more interactive home screen. The app soon feels like a dictionary. How about some interesting facts, a quiz, something to challenge wine knowledge? Also, the "my taste" graph is cool looking...but what do I do with it? They should use it to recommend styles in your profiles preferred categories.Show lessmurphino

I have been in the wine industry for 5 years in Australia although needed to expand my global wine knowledge and learn more for WSETqualifications, this app has it all, regions, grape varieties, tasting notes and food and wine matching all in an easy to follow format.

Really solid app
It took me a while to make my first wine related paid app purchase. When I finally did purchase pocket wine I was not disappointed and the only drawbacks I saw were occasional crashes and the aesthetics. After last update I have not crashed once and the layout and changes are phenomenal.
The content is more than I expected and the grape/food pairing areas are great. The locations could use an interactive map or at least some visuals in future update.
I would definitely recommend this app for those either in the wine trade or are very interested in wine. Only negative remark I have for last update is that the app is permanently on landscape for iPadShow lessAccipo

Wonderful app
What a joy to find an app like this. It's full of fascinating grape varieties, regional details and food matching. Best of all it has introduced me to some great wines I would never have tried like Arneis, Marsanne and Touriga Nacional.
