  • I hate the update!!!

I am a professional musician who notates all my own piano music. I used to love this app because it was user friendly and easy to use. Now it’s impossible to not change the pitch when ** I am trying to change the rhythm. Tenutos turn into something else during use. What used to be a joy to use has now become a chore. If these issues are not addressed I will take my business elsewhere.

  • Very good, needs some changes though

It’s great... can you include the trills and repeat bar lines?
  • Especially now!

How much worse the lockdown would be without iWriteMusic! The pause gives me time to make something my fellow singers and my great-grandchildren might enjoy.
  • Easy to use

My only complaint is that the playback doesn’t differentiate between articulated notes and regular notes. It seems to play everything as a regular note.
  • Rhythm Patterns for Drum Set by Jeff Sipe

I was able to write my book with ease because this app is so intuitive.
    Bravo!
  • iWriteMusic shows great potential!

iWriteMusic is a great app for on-the-go musicians who want to jot down musical ideas before they are lost to some distraction. It’s simple enough to sketch a quick melody, yet holds advanced features to develop sophisticated orchestrations.

The copy and paste function is limited to a single voice on a single instrument, so that is an improvement suggestion for the developer. It would also be very handy to have MusicXML export in addition to MIDI export, as this would greatly improve the ability to share files with other advanced music software.

All in all, iWriteMusic is a powerful musician’s tool, with potential to rank among the top music apps with just a bit more development.

  • WONDERFUL but i have a slight problem

Super duper app i absolutely love it, its easy to use, worth the money, and it enriches my life. However, slight personal issue:
I had to redownload the app to update it (my phone is dumb) and before i did i exported all my written songs to google drive.
Afterwards when i tried to import them back i could not find a way to do it?
Before it updated i could export them from the drive to the app but the app doesnt show up as an option anymore.
Basically reimplementing that feature would be nice as i still am in the dark as to getting those songs back in the app :(

  • It’s great

I’ve been using this app for quite a while now, and it’s amazing! It’s quite hard to find a good notation app for iPhone, but this one takes the cake.
Though there is always room for improvement... the dynamics.... WHERE ARE THEY?!? I’ll pick piano for one instrument and it still sounds forte?!
Fix the dynamics and it’s an easy five stars, but until now it’s a four...
    Great job to the developers!

  • Superb, but frustrating

I've had iwritemusic for years, and upgraded to the full version not too long ago. The app's mechanics and features are excellent thanks to a straightforward system and a wide array of options. Sadly, there are some issues that have been around since the app's debut. The most troublesome problem is the fact that the app crashes... A lot. The device I am using is a bit old, but is updated and more than capable of running the software, but crashes happen at an alarming rate and it has been this way for years. The other main issue is with the playback feature. Options are very limited in this regard. Dynamics are not represented. Instrument keys don't seem to carry into the audio playback. Other than these problems (crashes being the biggest issue), iWriteMusic is quite a good option for anyone trying to compose or arrange music on a mobile device.

  • Couldn't even write a note

I loaded the app, set up my song, but whenever I tried to enter a note, it either wouldn't let me, or when I used the keyboard-enter option, it crashed. Every. Time. What a waste of $6.
