  • I still hate this app

I still hate the app after the upgrade.
I don’t have any connection problems or alert problems like some other reviewers but the basic usability and display is awful. Specifically when you select what you are cooking; steak for instance, it presents a list of probably 100 different types of steak which you then have to scroll through. Seriously??? I just want to grill a basic slab of meat to medium rare I don't give a crap if it’s top sirloin or ribeye. The temps are exactly the same. Then when looking at the graph, it is squeezed into the top quarter of the screen- I can tell one of their products has 4 temp sensors so it makes sense to show all 4 but I have the igrill mini with exactly one sensor. I used to see a full screen graph where it was very clear.

I know these apps are expensive to build; so it is baffling to me why they would rebuild what was previously a great design and replace it with this very pretty but useless crap.

  • Good, but...

The connectivity has improved from previous versions. I love that it stays connected.
Temps seemed to read fine & accurate. I like the color probe indicators, but feel they need better placement. Your instructions indicate that they need to be away from higher heats, but slide easily on cable. If you attach them to the probe, they can burn. If you attach them at the other end, it. Gets confusion following the lines during multiple product cooks or various temp settings (I cook BBQ low & slow and different meats at 1 time.
Due to cooking various meats at 1 time, I wish I could name the probes independently. I could not find an option to do this.
    Am I missing something.
For this past Easter, I slow cooked leg of lamb (off the bone) on a smoker and Ham on my Weber propane grill. BOTH came out great AND the lamb was the best my family every had.
Thanks for listening & continuing to improve.

  • One star and that’s an improvement

The new app has moved from a deserved zero star rating to now justify the 1 star minimum. The problems have been addressed sorta, fixed no. I’m still really curious why a perfectly designed and functioning app was redesigned and made worse once Weber took over. They have addressed the inability to use landscape mode, but only for the single probe graph so now you’re just constantly reorienting your device. This all makes sense though as it goes hand in hand with the constant CLUNKY and (poorly) designed app. So many steps to do something. Why. Why.

  • Disgusted

Ever since they change the app none of my alerts work it reaches the temperature I don’t get a 10 minute warning it doesn’t go off when the food is done all of sudden I find my food 10-20° over where it was targeted ...this device is worthless to me now I shouldn’t have to watch it every degree as it climbs… It used to work beautifully not anymore...I am at my wits end with this product and I have nothing nice to say about it anymore ...support told me to delete and reinstall the app it worked once ...the alert went off once and I thought it was fixed but it wasn’t didn’t work the next time ....With my guard down I cook dinner yesterday and the alarm never went off

  • I wished I could give the last update a Zero.

3rd update, I’m increasing my rating to 5 stars. I just finished an eighteen hour smoke, the app didn’t lose connection and the alarm is much better.

The only thing I would like to see is the whole graph for longer smokes on one page.

    2nd update

I am increasing my review to 4 stars the app is now useable. Thanks.

    update.
This is an update I have changed my review from one to three stars.
They have brought back range cooking and better alerts, thank you. I would still like to see more aggressive alerts for overnight barbecuing.

    ——————
The last update has turned both of my igrills into expensive refrigerator magnets. The min/max settings that were helpful for overnight smoking are gone. The audible "Your food is ready." is gone.

  • Believe all the reviews.

Update: I’m stuck in Hell; in this particular inferno you must continue to use an app that was once perfectly fine, but it was so good it committed the sin of pride, and so it believed it could be better, better than what it the task it was given all along.

Now every bbq, ever roast, has lost all meaning, a mere vestige of what was once pleasant and fun; I curse the programmers of this app: May your plate always taste oversalted.

Like all the others have said, this is a terrible update and you should avoid it at all costs. They have removed human agency from the app and have introduced a user interface that can only have been thought up by the same folk who talk of torture as enhanced interrogation. Avoid at all costs.

  • Much Improved!

Since I gave the following 1 star review last summer, both app updates and an upgrade from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone 8 Plus have resulted is everything working extremely well.

I am very satisfied by the changes made and that my older iGrill thermometer now is working good as new and arguably easier to use.

Thanks for listening and responding in a very effective way.

“8/17. Can I give less than one star?

To do an app update that renders identification of your device, in spite of being connected by Bluetooth, when it was perfectly functional before the update is pretty bad.

Any app update should remain compatible with all the iGrill devices.

Yup, delete this update and offer the old one again. At least then the remote function would work.

Right now we can only use the iGrill devise in a stand-alone mode. The app will not find the device no matter how long you wait.

    Very dissatisfied.”

Thank you for your updated review! We appreciate your input and are happy to hear that you are able to enjoy the app. #GrillOn
  • No customizations

Please put back the customizations like temperature changes and alerts. Not all cooking is done within a box. One more thing. App will not connect via Bluetooth via our iPhones. It will connect via Bluetooth to our iPad. Even if we turn off the iPad and take the batteries out of the igrill then put them back in and get blinking blue lights for syncing to a Bluetooth device, It will not connect to any of our iPhones and we tried multiple phones even with the idevices app downloaded and installed. This used to work on all of our devices on the older app.

  • App is ok but the device has much to be desired

The app works ok, it’s the device that’s lacking. First, the probes generally only work for a short time before the wire gets broken and it registers very high or not at all. Second I mostly use it for a smoker but sometimes the grill also. Grills tend to flare up occasionally and the probes instantly melt, especially the plastic covers that are included to designate the color. Also the range between the device and the phone seems to be about 50’ or so. If I’m that close I don’t need the phone display.
With that said I didn’t give it a 1 Star and might recommend it with the above advice.

  • iPhone X issues - won’t pair

I decide to give this review three out of five stars mainly because the installation was pretty easy and frustration free. However, when I went to go pair with my iPhone X it wouldn’t pair no matter what I did (shut off Bluetooth, turned back on, shut off the phone, restarted the igrill, etc). Just for giggles I decided to try it on my girlfriends iPhone 6s And it worked marvelously.
With my pairing, via the igrill app, it would find the igrill, start to pair with it, the light would turn blue, and then after about 5 to 10 seconds the screen would go back to “pair device“. Unlike with the iPhone 6s, I never received the “would you like to pair with this device“ iOS alert popover. :-/

Hi there, we're sorry to hear that! Let's try resetting your iGrill to see if that will do the trick. -remove battery(ies); -insert after 30 seconds; -"Forget this device" from your phone's Bluetooth settings; -restart your phone; -open the app and pair. Let us know how this goes!
