User Reviews: Dice Ex Machina

Top reviews

  • Checks all the boxes, user friendly

Honestly, this is the first app that has made me SEEK OUT the review page to rate 5. It has every die you could ever need, and a calculator for those "big" rolls (try me, Tarrasque). The folder system is excellent, easy to use and compact, harboring customizable stats, rolls, modifiers and more.

The only improvement would be to add more color variation to the elements of the app, but otherwise 10/10 would roll 3 20's in a row again.
  • Amazing, we’ll worth supporting

Hands down a must for modern DMs and PCs alike. I use the in combination with DNDBeyond and its fantastic. Also just in case you're wondering, this is waaaay more accurate and consistent than any physical dice you'll ever buy. I upgraded it to pro for $2 and I couldnt be happier with my purchase. I hope more features like auto crit rolls and exploding dice get added eventually.
  • Really Great App w/suggestions

I would gladly pay to upgrade if you could add 1d10,0000 rolling (Net Librams magical effects) and add the roll statistics bell curve generator that RPG Roller supported but has now become defunct. Roll XdX a hundred million times and gives a bell curve graph of all roll results.
  • This app is amazing!

I’ve tried a lot of dice rolling apps over the years and this one is by far the best. So simple and yet the things you can do with it are mind boggling. So versatile and flexible. I’ve basically replaced my entire character sheet with just a “dice set” on this app. Love it!
  • Awesome, once I figured it out.

EDIT: It can roll the entire folder. It’s not exactly what I had in mind, but it achieves the desired effect. Changing my rating to 5 stars, as this cleans up the issue.

Extra Edit: When looking at the folders, the d20 logo next to the folder name rolls the whole folder. This would be a great thing to show in the sample folder tutorial.

This app is very useful. Works as intended. Highlighting critical hit rolls is a huge plus. The improvement that would get 5 stars from me is to be able to run multiple totals on a single dice set. Example: The equation would be 1d20+15, 1d4+12, 6d8. This would display as 25, 13, 31. Doing this would allow for attack and damage roll to happen in one click. My lists are cluttered because I have 4 attacks with separate bonuses, plus the damage for those 4 attacks, plus sneak attack for those. Have it all on one click could make combat much faster.

    Developer Response

You can roll a whole folder of dice rolls with one click using the roll all button to the left of a Dice Set cell. You're actually not the first to not realise it's a button. I have to do something about that.
  • Incredible App

I searched dice roller just to find something simple, and found this masterpiece. This app is incredibly useful for any player or DM and I will be recommending it to my group at the next session. The app has a simple appearance and is simple to use, but don't let that turn you off from realizing how much use you can get out of it. Play around with it for ten minutes and you will see it is easily one of the greatest free apps in existence.
  • Quick, Simple, Efficient

Easy and quick ability to roll multiple dice and a custom dice calculator would be enough for 5 stars but after the recent update of adding dice sets for free I wish I could rate 6/5. Great app for all the games I play.
  • Very Convenient

Best and cleanest dice rolling app I've found. Makes higher levels in the world's greatest roll playing game a little bit easier. Everyone in my group switched to this app once they realized how convenient it is.
  • Awesome

This takes the fun out of doing the math, wait there is no fun and all of that math that I had to do. Before this there was too much to remember. There is too much that had to be overwritten. The racer was the bane of my character sheet. Thank you for this app!
  • But this. Best $2 I've ever spent

I loved using dice but I got to a point where my character was too powerful to calculate all the rolls in my head (20+) dice a roll. This app saved my bacon. The dice sets feature takes a few minutes to figure out, but once you do it's a great way to keep things organized.
