  • Love it! So helpful!

I have used Accordance since 1995. I use it for my personal Bible reading and for all my preparation for Sunday school lessons and sermons, as a pastor. What a resource! It’s on my desktop; it’s on my phone. Thus, I’m never without the ability to “find that verse, Biblical person, or Biblical event,” to do any word study I please, or to find what Greek or Hebrew word is underneath the English translation I am reading on paper. So thankful for Accordance! Oh, and I love the new, crisp, clean interface of 2019 in this mobile app.

  • Simply the Best

I have used Accordance for years, since my return to using software and returning t the Mac, and I have to say that it is simply the best software in existence. I prefer hard copies because of eye strain, but when I am writing, it is really helpful to have the electronic versions for research, in terms of speeding up the process of production.

Get this app, buy as much as you can, and use it. You will not regret it!

  • Fantastic

Accordance is, without a doubt, the best Bible study app in the App Store for both serious academic work and research as well as casual Bible reading.

It is simple enough and designed well enough that the new or inexperienced user can jump right in, and powerful enough that scholarly users won’t be left without the complex search capabilities found in desktop Bible study apps (including morphologically tagged original language searches).

The new UI has improved on this even more and has made navigation both easy and beautiful.

The ability to customize the app organization is excellent as well, making it simple to find the resources that are most important for you quickly.

Syncing between the desktop and mobile versions of Accordance is a feature that is not imperative and present in Accordance. Regardless of whether you did the work on mobile or the desktop version it’s synced between the two.

I can recommend Accordance without reservation.

  • Great update to a fantastic app.

The new interface is greatly improved, and the new organizational and highlighting features are most welcome. This is the premier Bible study software, and coupled with the desktop app, it is extremely powerful. Even as a standalone app, Accordance will get you further into the depths of God’s Word than ever, and the new update makes everything much easier and more efficient. Great job by the developers!!

  • Seems to be tough to use with IOS

I just recently was able to get an iPad Pro to replace my laptop which was coming to the end of its life after school. Since my paper writing days are pretty much over I thought an iPad would better suit my needs for future ministry. I love it so far but my biggest problem is with accordance. I have found that the app is really difficult to use on IOS vs my old MacBook. It’s difficult to use dictionaries and parse verbs. I’ll admit that I may just need to do a little more research in how to use accordance with IOS (maybe its just new and I don’t know how to use it yet). But I will say that after spending a few hours trying to figure it out that I feel the app on the IOS is much worse than on the MAC (maybe that’s the way all apps are on IOS vs actually laptops???). I am curious to see what Logos does with IOS. The only problem is that I’ve sunk a lot of money into accordance and feel like I can’t switch at this point...

There is no clear winner but there are advantages to either the desk-top application or the mobile app for iOS. What you lose in screen space, graphical representations, and search analytics on the mobile app has to be put up against speed, gestures available, and well, mobility that you gain! The latest release, 3.0, is closer to the full computer experience than ever. We invite you to view Podcasts #184 about the newest Mobile app release and #180 for a comparison of the mobile and desktop version. These are both accessed on our Support page: https://www.accordancebible.com/Support. Don't overlook Help for iOS Mobile, also accessed there.
  • Simple is Beautiful

I’ve tried a number of other similar apps, including the most downloaded and highest rated apps in the App Store. None of them matches the simplicity and speed of Accordance. It seems that development has slowed down considerably since the early days, but I still love the app and trust my highlights and notes to it.

I’ve been an Accordance user since before the iPhone. I’ve invested substantially in content. I think they could innovate on desktop, mobile, and web, but I hope the day to day use is never hindered by an over dependency on connectivity and social media envy.

  • Too bad there are only five stars!

I have been working with Accordance for ten years or so and I remained a big, big fan. As a resource for biblical scholars, Accordance is unbeatable. It’s not just that Accordance has a tremendous library of texts and resources, but it’s always growing. Software improvements and updates are regular and relevant to my work. More important than these things are Accordance’s people and it’s training. High-quality training webinars are held weekly, making it relatively easy to reach power-user status. And Accordance’s people are just great and delightful to work with ... to a person. Great product. Great company. (They really need more stars for this one!)

  • Good + suggestions on bugs and features

Accordance is a good app. Does what I need and does it sufficiently well.

One bug is that ever since getting my iPhone XR, when I hold down a word to get the instant details, the pane sometimes appears already having scrolled down a bit. Thus, the first line of the instant details is obscured when this happens, requiring me to manually scroll up every time I use instant details to look at the parsing of the Hebrew or Greek text. A minor bug but it gets annoying when you can’t see the first line.

A feature request would be like what Logos has, which is the ability to have different tabs/workspaces within the app. It would be nice to have different windows of the same Greek text so I can cross reference within the NT without ever losing my place.

Other than these, all in all, I am happy with Accordance. Definitely need to spend more time to learn how to maximize the functionality, as it can be a very powerful tool.

Thank you for your feedback. We will try to reproduce the issue you describe with instant details and report it. In Accordance you can view a second pane with the same or a different text, a reference tool, or your User Notes. When you tap the screen, the icon for opening the second screen will appear at the lower right corner. It is half blue and half white. It will open with the same text as in the first pane, but that can be changed by tapping the title and selecting from the texts, 1:1 reference tools, or, if you have created any, a user notes file. You are right, this can be a powerful tool. Thank you again for your review.
  • Highlighting Problems

This app is great in many ways. I especially love how it gives one access to almost all the texts and tools that are available on the Mac app. Unfortunately it falls down in some important areas and, in some cases, gets in the way of you accomplishing what you want to accomplish. One example is highlighting. Want to highlight a line in a commentary? I wish you success. Most times it works okay but it’s still not as nearly as or intuitive or as easy as it is in iBooks. But at other times it is downright impossible. Using either your finger or the Apple Pencil you go to highlight a sentence and suddenly the next two or three paragraphs are highlighted, sometimes even discontinuously! What seems to be happening is that the bottom of your hand or wrist is being picked up as your finger, even though it’s nowhere near the screen. (I’ve tried to avoid this by trying to holding the Apple Pencil straight up and down but that doesn’t prevent it.) So I can just forget about highlighting the correct sentence, or spend the next 5 or 10 minutes trying to get just the sentence highlighted by trying over and over again, each time erasing the paragraph highlighting I don’t want, but it keeps happening over and over again. It’s an exercise in frustration. Unfortunately highlighting is one of the main things I want to do with the Accordance app for iOS. If the Accordance people could fix this I would rate their app 4 stars.

We are sorry to hear of the frustration you have experienced with highlighting. Please make sure you have updated the app to v.2.6. for the best results. However we have experienced what you are talking about would encourage you to post a feature request on the forum: https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/forum/47-accordance-for-ios/ Y This will allow others to add their comments to yours, and this is also where a developer will directly reply to your concern.
  • Good app, but too much scrolling

I gave the app three stars because it’s pretty solid overall. However, the text search feature is really tedious and frustrating given that there’s just SO MUCH SCROLLING with each search of a text. This really takes up a lot of time when trying to find several texts at once; for example, while listening to a sermon in church and being given two or three bible texts to reference. If, let’s say, I look up Rev 22:20...I tap the menu button, but then have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the list of bible books because they don’t all show up on the screen at once. Then I have to scroll all the way down to the chapter 22, then the same thing for the verse. It would really help if when we tapped the menu button, all the books were shown on the same pop up menu with no scrolling needed. Same thing for chapters and verses.

Thank you for your review. You may find the Verse Chooser/Grid to be more to your liking and faster to use than the List. This can be selected in Accordance Settings/Text Display/Verse Chooser.
