Latest version not working with DSM 6.2.4
Ds file used to work very well. Since last update, it doesn’t want to log in anymore: user namenor password incorrect. I even created another user to male sure everything was ok,no success. This update has a bug and there is not way to get back to the other version…M.Bonheur

Thanks for making DS File, I've been using it regularly for about a decade. It's great!
An issue is about security user privileges. As a user and the admin, I can't switch quickly between sessions.
For the past decade I was using only one account with all privileges. Always been annoying me, coming from Linux never using root account.
So now that I've cleaned up my setup, I find myself using Safari in Desktop mode to do things from DS Finder who's using the admin account. DS File isn't. It's hard to do things in desktop mode. It's annoying to logoff/logon.
Can we have something about more than one session in DS File?
(Maybe I'm not the first to ask, probably the reason it's not there's is dur to technical debt, since this App is more than a decade old)Show lessRenoir Boulanger
Works like a charm for basic browsing of server content
The app does however need to support more file types for preview, for example .NEFKievguy
Outdated and no support of modern iPadOS features.
Meaningless fixes and no update to support multi-app view in iPadOS. Disappointing that Synology devs are simply dragging their feet on such critical apps for their flagship product.JamesJan
They fixed the bug!
I contacted Synology 11 months ago about a bug I encountered using DS file where saving photos to the camera roll lost exif metadata. They acknowledged the issue and promised to fix it. Finally after many months of waiting I can confirm that the bug was fixed! Thank you!Benjamin2017

Each time I download a file from web browsers or make a screenshot with intention to save them to my DS918+, the DS File app is simply missing from the list of available storage options of the iOS Files that was called out. However, DS Files is enabled in the Files app when open the Files app directly.Show lessEverwisher

Photo Backup Misses Hundreds of Files
Somehow the app will decide when it’s “Done” even though there are quite obviously huge amounts of items it missed during its backup. There’s no way to force it to recheck the file list either. I see why Roku pulled the plug on DS Video now, it’s really Synology falling behind and leaving their other products and services out of date and buggy.Show lessDude Its Rob
The file management works...
But don't gaslight people and say your app will open for out viewing pleasure various file types. The list of file types has continued to grow but you lost basic function. I used to be able to watch a season of videos without having to do anything. Not since the last update.
With this version, one video will play normal, the next will be sound only, and eventually not even that. Please note, if I want to do work to load the next episode I can play each video with the VLC app. I could also open all the videos in a VLC playlist and not need to open each one individually but you broke that too. Can't get VLC to connect to the new NAS directly anymore, now it is only accessible to get a video on via your fairly frustrating Files app.

Kinda of work?
If u wanna move let's say 1000 files from external USB driver connected to ur NAS, DS File creates 1000 tasks which moves file simultaneously! which can lead to a NAS completely frozen for a very long time(depends on the average file size u moving, in my scenario average file size is 800M-1G and it freezes for almost 2 hours) at that time, everything is not responding, and the tasks is only 70% finished leaves 30% tasks undone.Show lessi'm elfive
