  • Needs some updates

Works OK but lacks some basic features, e.g. when copying files if the same file name exists there’s no option to skip that file (only overwrite or rename). I hope this app continues to get support.
  • Favourites folder

Please add ‘favourites’ option to ‘destination folder’ when moving/copying files.
  • Never connects!

Started out as a good concept. Now even though the password, account, and quick connect ID are all correct it still will not open DS File. Customer service has not been much help in troubleshooting this. They need to go back to the drawing board.
  • Good, not great. Lots of room for improvement

I generally find the app useful but it still has a few issues which make it a pain to use from time to time. If my router assigns a new internal network address to my NAS it will still try to use the old address even when I select the new address from the menu. And if I sign out of the app or have to reinstall it, it doesn’t remember which photo or video I left off at when uploading things to my NAS so my only other option is to upload every single photo and video which may already be backed up. It also takes a very long time to back up files to my NAS even when using WiFi 6.

  • I would like to leave -5 stars if possible

We are in 2022… I just want to upload some files to the nas… and I have to do it one by one…

Don’t they know it’s all about apps these days?!

Once the cloud storage is more affordable and I would migrate my nas data to there or if this nas die and I won’t bother to replace it.
  • Videos not playing, download, save not working

As the title states, I’m having issues with the videos not playing via the app. It keeps giving me an error. Also, I cannot download the photos to my phone. I’ve tried sending it via email or as a message but nothing works. Please fix this soon. I’ve also run into similar issues stated by other reviewers with uploads not working properly. Small loads seem to work fine but anything over 50 pictures, the app must remain open with nothing else running, and my phone screen left on and not going to sleep. Even still I seem to have issues with errors or photos missing. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 15.1.

  • Needs drag and drop from other apps

    It’s fast and fluid.

Update: I just wish I could drag and drop files from others apps to copy and paste.
  • Needs better integration

It needs to integrate with the iOS-integrated Files app better by having the login page for the Files app be redesigned so after logging in, the login window would disappear automatically and the Files app would start syncing with appropriate NAS Server.
  • Gets stuck on “logging in”

When trying to connect it just sits on logging in forever never connecting or giving an error or telling your the login is wrong. Just… stalls forever. It used to work not sure what the deal is no problems logging into the web interface.
  • Gradually Eating Up Storage Space Under “System Data”

There is a serious bug. Might be iOS but I only found DS File being the cause in my case.

Uploads/downloads via DS File would likey leave cached media file in “PhotosFileProvider/photopicker”. iOS won’t auto clear the cache. This can grow indefinitely until device is full, in my case 80GB. The storage amount doesn't show up under DS File but under “System Storage”.

Backup + restore the device won’t even help. iOS upgrade won’t help. And there is no easy way to delete the cache.

A hacky and working solution is to backup, edit the backup file using 3rd party tools, then restore.
