  • Now we have to pay! Smh.

I have used Filmic Pro for almost two years! Now Filmic Pro wants people to pay and I’m very disappointed in that because not many people have the money to pay. The reason why I haven’t invested into a $1000 - $3000 DSLR camera is because I have a 13 Pro that I’m already having to pay $1000 for. What’s the point on paying for a subscription if I have a pro phone! Hints the name FILMIC PRO! I have made in app purchases to get film logs and other presets… now I have to pay something I can’t afford to pay for. I understand that this app has to have some sort of money flow to improve the app. But at least charge two dollars a month then I’ll pay. But weekly I can’t do that! I really love this app and now I’ve kinda lost interest in this app. I hope the crew at Filmic Pro will fix this ASAP.

  • Tiers

I signed up for Filmic @ $.99 weekly and purchased the remote for $9.99. I could never log back in I had to keep purchasing a subscription for $2.99 weekly. I contacted Filmic and they said Unfortunately some customers were unintentionally offered the same duration for all offers during this round the pricing but there is no reason to pay the higher price so I would recommend you pick the lowest price tier as they are otherwise the same which was $.99 weekly. All I needed to do was remote record iPhone from iPad. After experiencing more log in issues, I was told So while I do apologize for the confusion if you like to use the Filmic Pro the lowest price weekly option is $2.99 per week, as the $.99 option was never intended to be published. I hate that the .99 option was removed, just bad.

  • Great app/ horrible business move

I have been using Filmic Pro for less than a year now. I have loved every minute of it, but I originally bought the app precisely because it was not a subscription model. Well, they have now been bought out by a company that is changing that. They have said that those of us that previously bought the app would continue to be able to use the app without “upgrading” to the subscription but they have yet to clarify if we would still get updates or be forced into the subscription model when we upgrade to new phones. So in other words, when I upgrade to the iPhone 14 that is about to come out, will I be able to download the app that I have loved and already own……….probably not! I will never pay upwards of $150 a year for an app on a phone! That is insanity and Bending Spoons needs to realize they are not dealing with consumers who were born with silver spoons in their mouths. They have, in all likelihood, initiated the end of a once great app!

I would have ranked the app 4 stars plus before this move by the company. Now……… 1 star is generous!

  • coulda been a contender…

i teach video production and post at the university level. because of the pandemic closures of facilities at school I was recommending FilmicPro as a solution to those who didn’t own a camera.
I have been shooting with Filmic for a while and have loved it in the past despite some consistent bugs with saving files. now these bugs have gotten worse where on a normal shoot I can expect 4 out of 5 footage clips i record to be completely corrupted.
Yesterday foe instance out of 9 clips only one works. when I check the files with a video repair app it shows random blocks in the clip where not saved at all.
if this was a one off so be it, but it is not and even after following most recommended Filmic inc settings on my iPhone 11pro, i get the same results.
this shows me this company is not ready for pro usage, and is definitely not safe ro use in critical moments…. please passs it over until they fix the bugs

  • Worth The Time

I love this app. I love how the developers are listening and continuing to frequently update the app to make it better.

Yes, it can seem a little intimidating at first if you’re not already a dslr pro, but it’s completely worth putting in just a little bit of time getting to understand the interface and the functions that you now have control over, and then remembering to shoot even random videos with it. Before you know it, you’ll be feeling super comfortable shooting with it, and when you go back to a native camera app, you’ll miss FilmicPro, because it’s just that flipping good!

Why wouldn’t you want to take advantage of every option your phone affords you to make the most beautiful and interesting video content that you can?

Stop reading. Get the app. If you’re already a shooter and understand color grading, the extra $ to get the “cinematographer’s package”, is more than worth it. It’s a must if you plan on color grading your footage, so get that too.

    Seriously, these guys are great.

  • Great but needs a few features

I have been using this app for years and I love it, but it needs a few features. Number one the ability to switch between phone cameras at the push of a button on the main screen, not buried in a menu. Even better would be the ability to switch between different phone cameras without having to stop recording as can be done on the native iPhone camera app. Number two is independent volume controls of the left and right audio channels. Finally, and this may not be the fault of the app, but monitoring sound with wired headphones has a small latency delay. It’s annoying but not a dealbreaker. Wish there was someway to fix it.

  • Ruined by Dynamic Tone Mapping

There is one reason I was interested in Filmic Pro: Fully manual exposure control. This is not actually possible with Filmic. You can lock the shutter, lock white balance, lock everything down... and as your scene changes, so does the exposure. This isn’t a problem if your scene is very static and does not change at all. However, let’s say you have a shot that begins with a well lit subject, and you want to follow them as they move through a dark hallway, or a subject that moves in front of a bright window: suddenly the image dims or brightens, ignoring your locked exposure settings. From what I have read, this is caused by Apple’s Dynamic Tone Mapping, which forces these adjustments, and that there is nothing Filmic can do about it. For that reason, I sympathize with Filmic if this is caused by Apple and there is nothing developers can do about it. Regardless, the result is that I have no true manual exposure control on my iPhone. This is a dealbreaker, as some of the shots shift exposure mid shot, becoming unacceptable for use. I was coming around to the idea that for my purposes, new model iPhones could be an acceptable platform for shooting video. After months of experimenting, I have concluded this is not the case.

  • DoubleTake and filmicpro!!!

First thing first both apps when they works are fantastic HOWEVER I cannot trust that what I tell either app to record in will be what waits for me in the camera roll. 1) DoubleTake: I set to 30 FPS record rear camera as A-cam/ front as B-cam hit the red button.... go back at the end of the day to find a 3 frames per second video waiting for me. YES A WHOLE 3 FRAMES PER SECOND OUT OF 30..... a whole 10% of what I asked for. Don’t trust it. 2) filmicpro: this app does the same thing only not quit as bad usually end up with 10 FPS. Like I said when they work they work awesomely and if you have the time to check your videos immediately after you end shooting each individual section of video to verify it worked go ahead. However I cannot afford such a luxury. I cannot trust this app to save a file that matches what I told it that I wanted. I have reached out to their support and I am waiting to hear back. I will update once I hear back from them.

  • Great app. Would love if...

I’ve been using FilMic for some time now and I have to say it is the best app for smartphones. There is one option that I would like though. The ability to control bigger gimbals like the Zhiyun Crane 3s. With all step up rings, filters, lenses and any other things put onto the phone, it gets heavy. Too heavy for my Movi Cinema Robot so I bought the Crane 3s. It works fantastically with it except for the fact that I cannot control anything through the gimbal. More and more people will start buying bigger gimbals for the reason above. So it would be great to have some support for the Crane 3s. Once again, I love what you are doing and can’t wait to see what’s in store for your ne t big update. Thank you.

  • You get 10 stars

Best app on the market. I got some major ideas for this app. Send me your email. I’ve used many apps and this is flawless. I’m a reggae producer who started video recording. I use a gimbal. Filmic pro. Filmic remote. Mic and light using only my iPhone. The videos are speechless. But I see some ideas that could lock the market. Expand the lens to 6x like the app for my gimbal. Add under community access to sign in a Client to access their camera but record the video into my filmic pro. That way I can record people from around the world in high quality. Make the app access more features on the gimbals. And a story mode like the app for my gimbal. That stitches video together into a movie. I would give you 9000 stars. I compared a few footages from filmic and the iPhone camera. No comparison. Filmic is like having a expensive dslr camera in a iPhone. Ohhh another thing. Add filters in a in app purchase for the lens. Another thing I thought of. Under audio. Add access to iaa apps. Like MicSwap. And we can swap the mic in the video to different mics. And filmic would be Hollywood. Oscar. Etc etc.
