  • I can’t imagine a better bible study tool

I’ve used tools that cost thousands of dollars and those that cost hundreds of dollars and none compare to this for ease of use, cross-platform support and long-term maintenance and support. PocketBible is the one program to get that you will use for the rest of your life. I strongly recommend purchasing this.

  • I want the previous app style back

There have been too many changes with the update. But the one change that I dislike the most is the “keyword search”. It does not narrow down the location of the word you’re looking for as easily as the old app style. I would really appreciate it if you could put the former search method back. I can adjust to the other changes but I’ve been using BibleGateway for my searches now and I’m shopping for other Bible apps too because of this change. I hope you fix this soon.

  • Bad update

I have had this for years and loved it. For the first time, I’m tempted to switch, but won’t. I have too many notes in the app to switch. This last update is full of bugs. Search does not work properly: have to type in the search text twice. It also splits the screen into 3 columns leaving the Bible text in a very narrow column. I wish I could undo the last update.

  • Version 4 Feedback

My first Pocket Bible was on a Palm Pilot. I’ve had this app on ever platform available since. I’m currently on Apple/Mac systems. It remains my preferred app for studying and doing devotions. However, version 4 is not as user friendly. And now has lag (slower response time) when opening the app on a iPad and iPhone.
-Can’t cut and paste a word, making it much harder to get a definition. (Has been corrected!)
-Grid Bible Navigation Setting changed with new version (I still prefer the previous color scheme).
I love this app (it’s an excellent tool but has bugs). My preference is for the previous version. Previous version was five stars.

  • Great upgrade, but a few comments

Copying verses is now not as good as the previous version. It leaves too much space between sentences and renders the copying of verses as less than adequate, especially for the poetry books. I hope that is fixed since this was an important function for my study.

Got a response from Laridian that some books are designed to have spaces, especially the poetry books so this cannot change, although in previous versions of the app there were no spaces, which made copying and using verses in other apps much better. Apparently this was changed in this new version, much to my regret. I hope Laridian goes back to no spaces at some point, particularly with the NIV translation which is what I use the most.

Overall, a wonderful app that I have been using for years!

Also wish all books could be highlighted and not just bibles. Hopefully that is coming?

    Developer Response

PocketBible books are HTML documents. In both the current and previous versions of the app we put HTML on the clipboard and leave it up to the app you're pasting into to decide how to render it. We use blockquote tags to indent poetry and set our style sheet to make it look good. When you past into another app, they may add extra space between paragraphs and blockquotes. You should be able to adjust that in the target app. If not, perhaps a suitable review of that app would be in order. :-) Thanks for sticking with PocketBible and giving tech support the opportunity to address your concerns.
  • Still love this app

You need to bring back the touch zones. The two and three-finger swipe gestures are not very user friendly for people with arthritis. If I want to work with my iPad propped up and using external keyboard, which I often do, I either have to contort my wrist or rotate my device at an angle. And the device is having a hard time distinguishing between an up/down scroll and a left/right swipe — again because of the angle of my device in relation to the angle of my hand.

Apart from that, I contacted their app support about something else and they were great about replying promptly and professionally.

  • Used to Be a Great App

This app is no longer working as it did prior to the last couple of updates. It is slower. Shows "loading" frequently. It is hit or miss, mostly miss when I enter scripture addresses. It does go to the right book but often not to the right chapter and verse. This makes following the sermon or Bible study very difficult. I have used your product with my Palm Pilot, then with my iPad...but I really need your help with the poor performance with the major upgrade you did. I have an older iPad 3 but I still feel Pocket Bible should work for me. I have spent a lot of money, for me, for Bibles to have to consider another product.

  • Back button issues

I have used PocketBible since my Palm Pilot days. While I am still getting used to version 4, I have discovered that my back button doesn’t take me back. For instance, I have three tabs, each with a different book, say Psalms, Luke, and Galatians. I click on a link in Galatians that takes me to a verse in Genesis, in the same pane. I then click the back button to go back to Galatians but it takes me to where I am in Luke. I now have two panes in Luke and have to manually go to where I was in Galatians.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Version 4 Lagging - Update

On an iPad with multiple panes open, there is a HUGE lag when scrolling through Bible while waiting...waiting...waiting...for the rest of the panes to update. This was not an issue with the previous version. Hope the next update gets this corrected...and soon.

Update: Did an uninstall/reinstall and this issue went away. Thank you, Craig, for your patient, kind, and diligent effort in helping me to resolve this.
