  • Stole my money

    Basically this company stole 150euros from me. I purchased online, with the package saying it works on Mercedes. When I installed the app it actually doesn’t even have the Mercedes SL in the app. I tried refunding but they have a very “smart” scheme, they say the device is 50euros, add another 50 euros for the app and then another 50 for something else. But in the end while you check out it changed to 150 euros all in the app. Which is not refundable cause you use it. I tried explaining the app is no use for me, as it doesn’t have my own car inside the app. Don’t bother, there is no refund. I will action it with my lawyer, I am sure they do same thing to all customers and also to avoid paying taxes on the device (which comes “free”)

  • Beware!

    They will email you subscription offers to subscribe on their website instead of App Store but there isn’t any cancellation option when it comes to renew. I was charged without my permission on their website and when u contact their support, they have auto reply saying you agreed to T&C’s.

    Such a predatory way to steal money from customers.

  • Not at all impressed so far….

    This app and scanner has done little other than provide incorrect information on the heath of my car. The vehicle’s heath was described as ‘very bad’ whereas it had a service just a few weeks ago from a Mercedes-AMG dealer who described the car as being in excellent mechanical order. The battery was described as ‘very bad’ yet it was replaced at the same service. Also, the app detected ‘mileage tampering’ - nonsense. I’ve had this car from new bought from a large Mercedes main dealer. Aside from a few delivery miles (about ten) and the odd occasion when the dealer has had to road test it, every mile has been driven by me. The suggestion of mileage is ridiculous. And should I wish to sell the car and potential buyer was using one of these gadgets, I’d loose the same. As if that’s not bad enough, I reported the issue, they came back to me, saying very helpful things then I’m told to report it again via the app. Seems Carly’s Customer Service is as dim-whitted as the product. I hope this can be resolved, otherwise, it’s going in the bin.

  • Not what it’s cracked up to be

    Bought it specifically to register new battery. Didn’t work and had to get ista. Wanted to turn off an sos warning. Had to get BimmerCode. Just an overpriced fault code reader really
  • Ok product, poor customer service

    The product offers quite good functionality. Expensive, though, and doesn’t always work reliably. Also slow to update for new vehicle models.

    Customer service protocols are disappointingly poor though. Unbelievably, you will never be able to update your subscription credit card once you give the card details to them, and that card will be charged without any advance notice each year. Only way out is to cancel your subscription completely, and to do that you have to contact them to get it cancelled manually.

  • Crap since app update yesterday - august 9, 2023

    Since app update, maybe works 1 out of 20 times - error message all the time saying it can’t find smart mechanic. Used to always work now it’s just crap. Also had a lifetime subscription bought years ago and then they switched to annual a few months ago which I now regret paying yet again for.

  • Scam artists. Stay away.

    The app is basically nothing but ads to push you to buy more monthly subscriptions. I could maybe overlook the greed, but the setup process is very user hostile and expects you to have deep level knowledge of the mechanics of your car (like what specific variant of your engine you have, and the options don’t match what comes up on the VIN lookup). Error codes are cryptic and you have to pay for yet another subscription to get more useful information. It just feels like I’m being scammed constantly.

    I do not recommend this scanner.
    Scanner shows bunch of unreal mistakes on my Porsche Cayenne which doesn’t exist. It was confirmed by original Porsche computer.
    I used scanner for about of month on two different Porsches and every diagnostic quantity of mistakes just grows. From 15 at start of the month to 35 at end. Fillings was like I have to scrap my car. In fact I just change spark plugs and solved all questions. Afraid to use it again as my filling like scanner work’s incorrect and creates a mistakes which accumulate in car computer. Really pure job.
    Smart Mechanic is pure. There’s no recommendation for spare parts original OEM numbers.
    And more of that, when I bought scanner was no one word mentioned that it is just timely subscription and I have to pay for it every year. On the market is wide variety of car scanners where you pay just ones and live updates included.

  • Sure game changer for car owners

    I had the older dongle I’ve been using for the last 3 or 4 years. It had save me money on repairs and services as there are some I can do myself instead of paying the Car Dealership to do my car service. It kept them honest when I have to the car to them for complicated repairs and services.

    Now I bought the Universal dongle and it’s so easy to use. I love the battery health check as one of my car is about 10years old and the battery had not been changed since I bought the car brand new. I was hesitant to take it for a long drive as I don’t know the condition of the car batter until I checked it with the Carly battery health check.

    truly a great app, has helped me resolve several issues with my car which would have been exponentially more expensive had a dealer resolved them.

    But the true standout is their after sales support! Absolutely top-notch support!
