  • UDOT Get a New App Developer

The past app/ version wasn’t great but it was ok and worked. UDOT should fire the current development team and get a new one. This new version has so many oversights and glitches. We are in Utah, why is the default map of the entire country? Make each user able to set a default map/location if they are logged into their account. Lines are way too small and difficult to see without zooming in more than needed. At times I view a camera and then there’s no way for me to go back to the map, I have to kill the app and start again. Terrible user experience!

  • Road work on Browse bridge

I have a question for you smart people. On one of the busiest weekends of the year in 104 degree weather the road crew decides to work on the underneath of the bridge? These people weren’t smart enough to put a cover to catch flying concrete fragments. There was approximately 30 people and their vehicles standing around and one guy using his hammer to brake concrete.
I wasn’t born yesterday but these people were idiots, no one should be braking concrete without some way to keep it from hitting vehicles, you don’t shut down the freeway on a holiday week day, since we’re talking about smarts what happens to a vehicle sitting on a highway running with surface temperatures of around 150 degrees these intelligent people can’t understand why people are parking on the road side? Vehicles along with people heat up.
You people need to work on your overpasses at night when traffic is at a minimum shut all but one lane down 20 miles back so that traffic can keep moving.
How much schooling does a person need to have common sense ? How much schooling does a worker need to cover up so that vehicles aren’t peppered with flying debris.

  • No longer useful

This app used to be helpful, especially when checking for road closures in/out of Ogden Valley, since rock slides, accidents and avalanches can severely restrict travel here. Now every time you look at one camera, you have to exit the app entirely before you can look at anything else.

The option to have the road closure explanations read aloud is pointless, and the AI effort is ridiculous (Weber Co. comes out as Webber Company? I’m just fine reading it myself, thanks.)

Agree with other reviewers - I don’t need to see the entire US, then keep narrowing down to Wasatch Front, then Northern Utah, then keep moving in until I can see the county and then the actual area of interest. This version of the app is an unmitigated disaster.

  • Totally Non User Friendly

Don’t waste your time on this app! If I could give it 1/2 a star, I would.

    Here’s why:
    - Launch app and it takes you to a view of the U.S. You have to manually zoom in to your area to see anything. Every time!
    - The routes are so thin that you can hardly see the traffic delays. You have to stop and zoom in to the max, and even then the display is micro small.
    - If you go to the effort of “saving a view” by logging into your UDOT Traffic account, it doesn’t remember it on the primary app display that comes up when you launch the app.
    - I’ve found it totally useless, unless I stop and pull over to fiddle with it, before I can go anywhere.
    - I gave feedback to UDOT when they switched from the previous, much superior app, several years ago (and look at all the negative reviews.) It hasn’t improved at all in ease of use.

  • Horrible app - previous version at least worked

I feel like they hired a development team that put features in because they could, not because they were needed or even wanted. I don’t get on this app to use as a GPS so it’s pointless to force me to say where I am going. It’s also completely pointless to start out with an overview of the entire country since it only works in Utah and specifically primarily across the Wasatch front. The thin colored lines are very difficult to see between green, yellow and red. They are so thin compared to the previous app version that it’s essentially unusable. The splash screen is completely unneeded. When you start this app you want to get a very quick picture of the Wasatch front and where the issues are. There’s no other reason for using this app so anything else is just a distraction. this app is a classic example of allowing developers to put in features that they themselves wouldn’t use on a day-to-day basis. How this even got past internal testing is beyond me.

  • Please return to previous version (update is useless)

Listen to the reviews. THIS UPDATE IS HORRIFIC! USELESS! The current version is terrible & unusable. I thought this was supposed to help us in traffic, not hinder. The previous version wasn’t perfect, but 10 times better than the update. Impossible to find any good information of any value. We, the people of Utah, are not using this app like Google Maps or Waze. We are using it to see where the traffic delays were. Did you not beta test this with the public? I certainly hope there are not government funds paying for this. If so, I demand a refund. Please return to a version that I we, the people can quickly use. Thanks.
If you’re reading this, do not bother downloading it, for is a joke.

  • UDUMB

Really? The last update is useless.
Will not open and freezes at splash screen. Investigative journalists need to report on the waste of $$ Utah State IT department wasted away to either internal app developers or the outside IT vendor who pushed out this crap.
And there will now likely be more $$ spent to fix it which SHOULD HAVE been thoroughly tested first. … oh yea, and Gov Cox needs to address the transportation public safety risks that are now created with drivers not having access to road conditions/closures and drivers now looking at a blank screen or having to click extra bloat features to see maps. Just in time for major snow storms. Someone call KUTV Investigates.

  • Dint waste your time with this one

Don’t bother with this app. The old app was eons ahead of this one. Now you have to register an email with this one but when the app is opened you still have to find where you are on the map. The old app would at least show things like traffic congestion and the accidents as well as snow plows. This one is so far behind that if your in traffic from an accident it still won’t show up on the app and good luck trying to see where the snow plows have been let alone trying to get the app to load up on your phone.
Don’t waste your time with this, most likely this app was written by someone who has no clue as to what’s going on. One of UDOT’s engineers at their finest!!

  • Aggravating

This app is a waist of time for phone use and I hope it gets better or that they bring back the old version. This current version rarely even opens up past the UDOT screen with the black background. I have deleted the app and reloaded it hoping it was a glitch…it wasn’t. One time I even tried to open the app on my phone, left to snow blow the driveway, came back and the app was still on the UDOT screen with the black background. Unless and Aggravating. A few times I have actually got into the app and it was useful but felt like there were to many options making it glitch. Again Aggravating! After this post I am removing the app from the phone again and will wait for a newer version. Good luck UDOT and please get something working soon because we all want a useful app to see the conditions of the roads for peace of mind and safety!

  • Junk

Previous version worked much better. Old version was easier to navigate. I hate seeing a login screen everytime I open the app. I just want to see current conditions quickly be I head out. And opening the app, if it decides to open (sometimes it won’t) it takes FOREVER on both my iphone and ipad. Both my devices are up to date, so that isn’t the problem or maybe it is and UDOT can’t keep up.

Go back to the old app because this is junk!
