  • Great app!

This is a deep metronome app with comprehensive interface. Support is A1. Thanks
  • Great app!

I’m a keyboardist and singer. I have a classical piano background where rhythm is not a primary focus. This app has so many ways to develop and strengthen your sense of time, and has helped me immeasurably. Because I play and sing at the same time, I sometimes come across a situation where I can’t quite hear how the two should sound against each other. With Polynome, I can enter the rhythms separately, then play them back together to hear how it should sound. I’ve used Polynome for several years and feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what this can do.

Thanks for the great review. It’s great to hear from non-drummers. I’m so pleased that you’re able to make good use of the two sequencers.
  • The only metronome you’ll ever need

I’m a music teacher and performer. I’ve downloaded most of the iOS metronomes to review for my students. This is the one that I use. It has everything I’ve ever wanted in a metronome. It’s so good that I paid for the premium service. Joe is an awesome developer and always replies with answers to any questions. I love it. My Dr. Beat doesn’t.

  • Pay walls everywhere

Basic features that should be part of a 20$ app are behind a paywall making this a 40+$ app. Save your money and get one of the many free metronomes on the App Store, unless you like paying money for a basic metronome.

Hi, I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm aware that there are cheaper "metronomes" on the App Store.  Although PolyNome is listed as a "metronome", it's really much more than that. The App Store description lists which features are included in the basic version and which require the upgrade. You can also choose to buy PolyNome Pro on the App Store if you want all the features immediately. The basic version does a lot of things that I don't think you'll find in other metronome apps. You can program pretty much any rhythmic idea and save unlimited presets, download presets from the free Public Library, choose from hundreds of sounds, instantly create polyrhythms, have 2 sequencers running at the same time, and more. I have many of the free metronomes, plus many paid ones, and I'm confident that PolyNome stands out among the crowd with its features, accuracy, and stability. It's designed to be the only one you need. If you find yourself with questions, I guarantee you won't find better customer support for any app on the app store. If you're unhappy with your purchase, you can request a refund from Apple. If you decide to keep PolyNome and upgrade because you want to use the Pro features, just know that I'm an email away if you have questions. Best, Joe
  • Unbelievable! No brainer purchase

One of the things that met Apple successful as a company was that they figured out what the public wanted before the public even knew. PolyNome is an app that does just that. It does everything you could ever hope for and then six months or a year later as you have improved you’ll think of a feature that you need and you’ll discover that it’s already there. And that happens again and again and again and again and again. Brilliant work by an exceptional coder and exceptional professional drummer.

Wow, thank you for such a great review. It warms my heart to know that people get so much out of the app. I’m already well under way with some great features for 2.5.5 that I’m sure you’ll love. Thanks again!
  • So, So Much More Than A “Metronome

I am guitarist who encounters/plays some complex “fingerstyle” rhythms (bass and treble clefs that employ different rhythm patterns in the same measures). By permitting me to enter the values of notes in the bass and treble clefs in separate beat lines (essentially like using parallel metronomes) Polynome has transformed the way I analyze and practice a new piece of music. It is simply amazing and I can’t believe I’m only discovering it now!!! I’ve read a couple of the reviews that say it’s over complicated—I am 70 years old, have owne the app for one hour, and I have already transcribed approximately 20 pretty complex measures into a new preset. The complexity derived from the seemingly endless variety of options. It is mind-blowingly amazing. I’m looking a. $150 Boss Dr. Beat metronome I have connected to my mixer and thinking, “Reverb!!” I can, without any reservation say that this is the best app I EVER purchased and/or subscribed to. I enthusiastically encourage anyone who wants to improve his/her rhythm (and who doesn’t?) to take give this app a try. Yes, it does take a few minutes to get under your fingers, but then it’s pretty darn intuitive. I simply can’t rave enough about it. So I will stop. Best of luck in your pursuit of the right beats for you!!

  • Buyer beware, buy once and then have to pay for features

Two stars because the metronome functions work ok, just like with many free ones. However, after paying £13 (a lot by app standards), you’ll be asked to throw lots more cash at it to unlock the unique premium features. Money-grabbing at its worse.

Hi Steve555, I'm sorry you feel that way. The App Store description clearly states which features are included in the basic version and which features require the subscription or Pro upgrade. Although it's called a "Metronome", PolyNome is far more than that. There may be many free metronomes on the App Store but I doubt you'll find any that can do what even the basic version of PolyNome does. PolyNome is a constant work in progress - I'm continually adding new features and improvements. I'm also available 24/7 for support - you won't find better support for any app on the App Store. If you'd like to try out the Pro features, just email me at support@polynome.net and I'll arrange it. I'm confident that, given a bit of time with it, you'll find it's more than worth the asking price. Kind regards, Joe (owner & developer)
  • Revolutionized my Practice Time

This app is amazing and well worth the money. At first it’s a bit confusing, but after a month or two things should be making more sense. I’ve logged almost 1000 hours in 2 years since I got it and my drumming has progressed further than I could have imagined.

I was never really good with reading music but through using this app, I can now sight read music and transcribe difficult drum parts. On top of that, I actually had fun doing it.

With this app, your drumming ability is only bounded by your creativity and motivation level.

  • Great ap…while it lasted

I’m a pro musician and purchased this app several years ago. In addition to downloading a bunch of then-available presets and playlists I created a number of my own. Then, presumably after a recommended upgrade the playlists are now a “premium feature” and I can no longer access them. I’ve seen other reviews complaining about this and the developer says you don’t lose and features after upgrades, but I’ve not found a way to get back to my playlists and indeed they may have been deleted in the attempts to get back to where I was. Not happy and I won’t be spending any more money for this app.

Playlists are part of the Pro upgrade. If you’d previously purchased the Pro upgrade and were able to use Playlists, then they should still be available to you. If you installed on a new device, or reinstalled the app, you may have to “Restore Purchases” to regain the Pro features. If you’re having any trouble at all, please email me at support@polynome.net and we can get to the bottom of it. I’m always available and want to make sure there are no issues. Best regards, Joe
  • Amazing app and awesome developer!

Hey Joe, I talked a friend at church into getting your app so I could share my playlists. He bought the cheaper version and he can’t open my playlists. Can he upgrade for the difference in cost? Or does he have to pay the full price for the full version?
