  • no US credit cards ??

    booking the car from getaround was easy until I got to the payment: none of my US credit cards would work. I called my credit card company and they told me, that they can see the charge attempts, they would approve the charge and then getaround would cancel the transaction

    I tried to use PayPal, but that didn’t work either: you need a verified PayPal account - no idea what that is, and I’ve never needed one. there is no phone number for getaround anywhere, no chat, and emails were returned as undeliverable.

    so: terrible customer service!

    (in the end I had to link a bank account to PayPal to get the payment process working)

  • Still some work to do

    The UK version of the app needs to be better localised (a lot is still showing Euros €) and some major features are done via a web still (locking/unlocking) instead of within the app.
  • Way more time consuming and difficult than just regular rental experience

    I tried to rent a car in Paris where I have lived for 6 years. The rental was accepted, card was debited. Then I get a message saying I have to verify myself. I go through the steps of sending a photo of my drivers license, French identity card etc. I get a message saying that my profile needs to be verified manually within 2 hours and more documents are needed. I send the documents. It wasn’t fun taking selfies of my face with my drivers license, passport, proof of address etc.. how many documents are needed to verify someone ?? I even had to send them a video of me moving around. Anyway I get no resolve after 2 hours. I finally call customer service. Obviously they can do nothing but relay my message. I finally get a message of the cancellation of my rental with no explanation of why my profile was not verified. Terrible service and waste of time.

  • The worst car rental experience in my life

    Avoid this company ... they would charge you extra and hidden fees and they don’t stop when you are done with the rental. I got the car 80% gas and returned the car full tank and they charged me for 3% less gas! A week after my rental ended they charged me smoking and cleaning fee, I’m not a smoker and returned the car super clean but apparently the owner decided falsely claiming remaining of smoking and trash to claim cleaning fee to make some extra bucks and they charged me ... will never use their service again

  • ILLEGAL

    * I’m not one to complain but this is just a blatant con.

    Me and my girlfriends holiday was almost ruined due to this app. The car we received lights weren’t working inside and out. We tried calling the owner who ignored all of our calls, so we contacted the app who dispatched AA to come and solve the issue. It was quite late at night and were planning on leaving early in the morning.

    We never received any help and had to wait until the morning to call Getaround to confirm the car isn’t safe to drive and to ask for a refund. The agent was very friendly and confirmed that we could get a refund so we drove 6 miles to drop the car off.

    We were told via email today that we won’t get a refund due to the owner saying that there was nothing wrong with the car but me and my girlfriend had spent a good hour trying to fix the issue and also waiting for the AA to appear, which never did.

    We have lost £364 and they are not responding to our complaints.

    If nothing is resolved I will take legal action and I strongly recommend you do not use this app.

  • Verification process Could be better

    Although I had rented just a few weeks prior and verified credentials, I was obliged to do the entire verification process including videos and this pictures.
    This took so long that the start of the rental was delayed.Speaking to a human being promptly via phone seems to be a huge issue in corona times.

  • Support non existent during these times

    I forgot to pay the congestion charge after which the car owner got charged a fine, which I’m responsible for. Fair enough. All I asked for was some kind of payment plan for the charge as I have been let go due to COVID. All that they did was take the payment anyway - £115 that could have gone towards rent and food. Rest assured I won’t be using the service again.

    Renting is also a pain. Why do I need to take like 8 pictures of the car? Every other provider doesn’t ask for it and it delays my rental. Only used them because Ubeeqo and Zipcar weren’t available. What an expensive mistake.

We always do our best to accommodate payment plan requests, however, if the request comes after payment has cleared successfully we cannot apply a payment plan retrospectively, I'm sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause. As Getaround does not own any of the cars on the platform, and they are owned by private Owners we have due diligence to ensure that any damage to the car that occurs during a rental is processed by our claims team and paid for by the driver who caused the damage. The reason that we ask for 8 clear photos of the car at the start and end of the rental is so that we can be sure that we are processing damage claims on the correct rental.   • Très mauvais service client

    Très mauvais service client. Loueur injoignable et impossible d’avoir le service client. Drivvy était beaucoup mieux. Ne jamais louer par leur intermédiaire. Arnaque !
  • An expensive waste of time!

    I had one good experience with getaround, followed swiftly by one awful experience.
    The car broke down almost immediately, so we had to wait with the car for the AA to come and fix it. We had no choice to find alternative transport because we had an unwanted and unmoving car on our hands. Four hours after picking it up we set off on our (by that point) pretty urgent journey. When we spoke to Getaround, a complete lack of customer service ensued and they offered no compensation, not even for the hours that we were forced to add on and pay extra for since we were four hours behind schedule. If my train or flight was delayed by four hours then I would expect a full refund, whether or not I made use of the service, and especially if finding alternative means of travel is completely impossible.
    Good way of getting other people to hang around with your vehicle when you need your car to be fixed, however.

  • Be careful SCAM !

    I rented a Getaround car for two weeks while I was in Paris. Everything was great until I perfectly returned the car with the keys inside as planned (I have the photos of the car returned).
    They waited for me to leave a 5stars review then one month later the owner of the vehicule contactes me saying than he couldnt find the key.
    I was surprised by the delay since his probably was supposed to be rented since that and explained him than the keys was inside as planned.
    Then one more month later Getaround took me 945$ of penalties on my bank account without notice or proof of the owner who probably lied ! I contacted them many times. They never answered !!
