  • What happened to using your own insurance?

    While the newer app does seem to include a lot of features the older version lacked, my biggest issue is the insurance available. You used to be able to add in your own insurance in the older version, which would also help lower the cost of both the vehicle and deposit. Now I'm forced into their own insurance and their ridiculously expensive protection plans. In order to make the deposit more affordable, I pretty much have to spend an extra $100-$200. A car I sought out for was previously about ~$170 in the older version with my own insurance; is now $~250+ with their forced insurance! (~$330 if I want the 'Premium' protection!!)

    I trust my own insurance rather than someone else's. Adding that option again would fully complete this app. Please reconsider!!

  • Disappointed

    This new app made worse to launch as a owner specifically no customer service to be contact only through email, I sent an email 1 month ago and until now waiting for someone to reply. My car has a recall and is temporary deactivated and Getaround still taking from my debit card the $20 fee connect. How come if this is a new app supposed to check this and only have on track the cars that are active. They been taking the fee since November 2023 and today I was charged again 😡. I’m frustrated and disappointed. Didn’t know this new app will cut to be in contact and speak with customer service for our issues or concerns. Now is to wait months for an email to get a response 😡😡 only you can contact then if you have an active rental that’s ridiculous….

    Having Getaround in my area has been incredibly useful for Hauling large items around and in fact has helped me from purchasing a commercial vehicle. That said, the app has always been a huge headache and the new app is slight full of issues—a new coat of paint didn’t do much to fix underlying issues with this company.

    Unfortunately, starting and ending your rental is now more cumbersome and takes longer. I really wish they’d be more forgiving with the start and end of the trip.

    I’ll continue to use getaround, but be aware that they will never refund when they create issues (app-related or vehicle-related) and instead “generously” add credit to your account. I’ve seen it happen dozens of times now. If you’re serious of renting for long periods/distances, rent with a more reputable business. Getaround will always be a headache.

  • Most convenient Ride Share App

    You can’t beat Get-A-Round , especially if you live in a city like Portland where the variety of cars and trucks available practically assures you so I’d be score to find the right car to best suit your needs, an afternoon of errands? Is your car down at the shop for repairs? Need to commute to work ASAP and need a quick convenient solution? Get Around has all your bars covered and wants you to drive home yourself, in your kind neighbors car! I could go on and on but they don’t pay me. I gladly pay them though! Anytime I need a car for a few hours. So what are you waiting for? I have to congratulate you taking a huge step forward into your future!

  • Not worth it as a host

    I don’t know what happened to this company in the last 3-4 years but they have have completely gotten rid of all customer service. Any issues I’ve had remain unresolved. Anytime a renter of my car has an issue they are unavailable to be able to offer support. You can’t call to talk to someone anymore, unless your car is checked out. Even then you’re lucky to actually get someone on the phone. You have to dig through their help section to be able to send an email and then wait at a minimum 24 hours, usually more, to have somebody get back to you. The only response you should expect is an apology and we are closing this matter because we are not going to help you. It used to be a decent company. And the new app is terrible.

  • Misleading

    The GetAround app advertises cars that are not useable because the device that allows the car to be unlocked is inoperable. This leads to the pleasant experience of walking to your reserved car, going through the picture taking process, calling support, and 20 minutes later being told the only other available car is over 2 miles away and has over 123,000 miles on it. Getaround also charged me for not returning the car to within 1/4 mile of the pickup spot. In the system generated email informing me of $35 of extra charges, they told me that I had parked .244 miles from the pickup spot. Some how .244 miles is greater than .25 miles.

    Borderline scam product. Beware.

  • No ability to check car availability?

    There is only one car in my neighborhood, the second closest option is 45 minutes on public transit and just becomes unreasonable to get to. So if I have some flexible errands I want to run why can’t I check when that car is available? I have to literally throw out random days/times of work hoping the car will pop up. I should be able to just select the car I want and see when it’s blocked off or available. Seems like the most basic feature like seriously? This is my preferred alternative to Zipcar but they allow me to check when a car is going to be free.

  • Don’t rent on this!!

    If you lived in San Diego area never rent or do business with this guys DEIGO GONZALEZ. His a scammer!!! See I don’t like using my personal car to drive for ride share as a part time gig so what I do is to drive my car to where the car located I reserve the parking spot on the street using my personal car and drive for Uber using Getaround now this SCAMMER OWNER OF THE CAR charge me $35 for parking it outside the radius. Which is clearly I picked up the car on the spot where the owner left it. Same exact parking spot same exact location and Getaround told me I didn’t park it on the right spot. How is it possible I didn’t park it on a right spot when clearly I used my personal vehicle to save the exact same spot where I pick up the rental. Please don’t get scammed by this people. If they won’t let the owner of the car accountable to getting the car and parking it within the radius so supposed drop off. Like I said I SAVE THE CAR SPOT USING MY CAR my personal car. I just switched it always.

  • New App Complicates Pickup/Return Rental

    I use the Getaround app often, the car experience itself is great. The app though, has been giving me trouble ever since Getaround migrated to the new app in January 2024.

    “Sending” photos during pickup to start the rental is very slow. I’ve been told it’s due to poor reception, and customer service told me I have to wait until I get WiFi to complete the pick up process. WiFi is very rare to come across in public car areas (parking garages, parking lots, etc) - people are more often using data. Additionally, one can’t return the rental if the initial photos haven’t been sent. I had to talk to customer support to manually end the rental. I never had pickup/return issues related to the app before the new rollout.
