  • Great program but now has a few bugs

Before the most recent update, all was well. Solid program that never failed and worked great. In fact I have now installed this mixer in two different venues because it is absolutely fantastic.

Today, the mixer stopped working in the middle of rehearsal with a prompt that I must update the firmware. After 10 minutes I was up and running again, but every one of my settings and scenes were completely gone. Not good at all when I have a show in 20 minutes! I did get everything patched back in and everything worked fine for the show with no more program crashes.

Awesome mixer and program, but if that happens again I may need a new mixing platform because I can't take the chance of everything going down in the middle of the show.

  • Changes not right

After this last update my iPad isn't maintaining my current settings. Every time I leave a wifi that I wasn't online with the board always, MF deletes all my current settings. Then next time I go back to it, everything is gone and back to stock setup. Save and save often!!! Kind of sickening. Also noticed that the system seems to lag more often. Everything was great before the last update! Not sure what the problem is. I really like this unit for small venues. It will be good again when fixed. Would recommend to a friend. I'm sure Mackie will fix the problem soon.

  • DL1608 Review

From experience using this software, on an iPad 4th generation and around several smart phone users, etc, I strongly suggest the use of a 5Ghz wireless router / network. Recently, I was experiencing a series of disconnect anomalies, from the iPad and this software to the DL1608 and 2.4Ghz router / network. It took a little time to figure out what the issue was. But, at our last band rehearsal it hit me! I had set up the mixer and iPad with no one there, yet. Everything was working fine, until my two kids walked in with their smart phones. BINGO! The iPad and / or 2.4 Ghz router / network is seriously affected by the phones! Lucky for me that I had purchased a dual band wireless router. So, I switched to the 5Ghz network that the router offers and FINALLY! NO MORE DROP OUT or disconnects! A valuable find, for serious working Bands or Musicians looking to use this software, as an excellent solution to mixing live audio in local venues or clubs!

  • Recording with dl1608

Would love to see an application that would allow multitrack recording with the mackie dl1608. And would also be nice to be able to access the recordings without connecting to computer
  • Great but needs changes

I love this App and console. I've used it on many gigs now, touring the country. Please, please, please improve the Reverb sounds, and please allow ability to delay the Aux sends so we can use them for speaker delays. Other than that, it's a cracker.
  • Not as good as expected

Perhaps I was expecting too much. I found the reverb to be thin, cheap sounding and feedback prone. I'm comparing it to a rather inexpensive Behringer 1204 fx reverb...much more tweakable and more parameters. Although the Behringer departs from the comparison because of the absence of wireless control, the 5x plus price factor, leaves one expecting a more comprehensive range of superiority. I can only hope that this system will allow for 3rd party plug-ins or a vast improvement on the current reverb offering.

  • Great!

This is a GREAT application design, and works perfect with my dl1608. My Only complaint is that there is a absolute need for an iPhone version. At least being able to adjust only an assigned AUX, not the main mix put perhaps. Everyone has an iphone, but not everyone has an iPad. Band members should be able to control their personal levels. The other "company in which we do not speak of" has one, get into the game Mackie. Other then that, keep up the great work.

Edit: Just saw that an iPhone app is about to be released. Yes!

  • Well designed application with room to grow.

I am using the DL1608 in live network television production. It has worked flawlessly for the two months that we have owned it. There is an original iPad locked into the unit and I bought an iPad mini for wireless control. It has changed the way I run sound in many positive ways. I would love to see some future upgrades (the ability to group faders and assign channel placement on the mixer screen) but this build is amazing and simple to use. I hope that future upgrades remain accessible to iOS 5 for a while or my docked unit will be obsolete.

  • Just a few updates...

Awesome start but there are a few things I see that could make this a top notch audio solution.

Mute groups: a couple user defined mute groups would be great for breaks or FX mutes.

Channel link: ability to link one channel to another both at the same output level and at varied levels ( one fader at unity while other stay five below for example). Would be helpfull. Especially for stereo inputs.

Sub groups: sub group mixing via a channel link feature would be nice to minimize scrolling. 4-6 linked groups and/or maybe a couple user defined channels would be great. You could keep everything important on one page.

FX parameters: easier on the fly access to FX and tap tempo controls. Maybe a better reverb as well?

Digital trim: most other digital boards have this. Not sure if the hardware is set up for it but it would be nice to make minor adjustments while not at the console. Either that or make a new version fully digital and recall able.

  • Love it so far!

I'm very impressed with the app and the hardware so far. I also would like to see linking faders and hiding unused channels. The micro view would be nice too, as posted by another user. I am excited to know that the hardware and software can be updated, that should make this a viable product for a long time. A few more tweaks and this product will be golden!
