They Stole My Money!
I started signing up for this to use on a specific trip and I ended up not using it. They act like they are asking for a donation to use the app but they actually require you to pay a monthly or yearly subscription. I chose to pay the small monthly amount one time because I wasn’t sure if I was even going to use it. Later on I saw a $50 charge from this app on my statement. $50!!! I definitely did not authorize that. The entire reason I was potentially resorting to using this is because I am essentially broke. There doesn’t seem to be a way for me to contact them about a refund. Even without this happening the way they go about the subscription is scummy and deceitful. They aren’t asking for a donation, it is a required to use the service and the language they use should reflect that. It’s the worst sort of people that do deceitful and manipulative things like this. Narcissists and sociopaths

The community is so incredible and ive met amazing people! The search system sucks. Sometimes cities or towns with “2000” members only has 3 active people. I think, if people havent been active in over a year or 2, they shouldnt be included in the search results. Also! Sometimes cities are unsearchable. For example, Leon, the city of Nicaragua isnt searchable, on the state is searchable which is confusing and requires knowledge on how to use the search filters properly or else you will find no results.

Good but still worse than the website
In general it’s fine and better than before. However, It doesn’t show new messages automatically, need to always update. Not very convenient. Sometimes locations are incorrect and notifications are late.
Very frustrating and unfair
The hosts do not update their availability status which creates frustration within the community and makes it very difficult to find a place to stay. It’s often necessary to send at least 20-30 requests to hosts and maybe only around 5 will reply. Those who do reply will often be unavailable to host and the rest are no longer using the platform. Couchsurfing penalises surfers who fail to make each and every request personalised towards the hosts profile, but fails to take action against hosts who cannot be bothered to keep their profiles up-to-date. Couchsurfing really needs to review their terms and conditions because at this point in time the system only works if the surfer is prepared to invest several hours into finding a host.

Basic features but slow and laggy
The app has the basic section available to manage your profile, inbox and other sections. Main reason for score is that it's very laggy and slow and tends to require constant relaunching to work as features like hangout and search continuosly fail to load.
No refunds on subscriptions
It’s been over a year since I’ve logged into my account and upon being charged for a new year of service and requesting a refund 2 days later, the company refuses to return money for services a customer isn’t using. It’s been a while since I’ve come across this and I find it a poor business practice in this day and age. Hoping my feedback saves future users the trouble.

Main purpose of App is to sell your user data
I’m an 18year CS user, not a conspiracy nut but practical evidence driven person. CS App offers less than their website access, App has no coherent or logical approach. I’m deleting the App.
Appears the main purpose of the App is to broker and sell your profile/user data, interests and activities, that’s what you consented to when you allowed to “link accounts” when installing the App.

Actual scam, stay away
This app will trick you into paying an 87$ « verification » and then refuse to give you a refund. I now am stuck to take legal actions while travelling to get my money back. My friend who booked at the same time did the exact same mistake.

Temporarily suspended for no reason
I have used this app for 11 months now. I have hosted more than 35 Couchsurfers in this period. Out of nowhere yesterday, I got a notification saying my account is temporarily suspended. I have not shared my number or social media in my profile publicly. I have never used profanity in any interactions. I have only provided my contact number to Couchsurfers whom I was hosting or shared it in comments of the events that I host.
After building a profile for this long, I think all my effort might be in vain. I have seen many users with their social media info and links in their bio and somehow that is fine in this very platform.
I am government ID and phone number verified but have not paid the fee to use the app. I am not sure if random occasional temporary suspension is a perk to becoming a free user. If any such bias exists, it should be mentioned in the terms of use. Pretty disheartened to have this experience without doing anything wrong. I am sure many others might have had the same experience so just wanted to write a review.
