Perfect for AppleTV and Synology
I absolutely love this app. It’s perfect for you if you have a Synology and an Apple TV (or iPad/iPhone). I love the parental control features. The problem is that the passcode is visible to my kids when I type it in using my iPhone. Big oversight on that, but otherwise this app has been working flawlessly! Works good
App works good on most platforms. The navigation is simple and gets better the more you learn to use it. They really need to fix the Swiping left and right in the iOS app search results screen!!!! It is completely non functional at this point!!JohnsonRi
Doesn’t support many file types
This app doesn’t support playing many of my file types. Can you add a feature to open it in the VLC Apple TV app as an alternative? VLC works with everything! I’m mainly asking as this is how I use the DS video iPhone app and it would be great on Apple TV also!jamesingham

Good, could easily be better
Once you get accustomed to some quirks this is a good and functional app. Simple is good, it is, and I hope it stays that way. Navigating your library isn’t super intuitive initially but you’ll figure it out. If you Synology guys could add a repeat/loop video option like you have in the mobile and browser-based apps that would make my day for real. Oh, and when you use the search function in ‘all videos’ you can swipe to pop down to the second video in the search results (why not the first? I don’t know) but swiping left or right just pops you back up to the search bar and renders the feature basically useless unless you get lucky and the second one in the search results happens to be the one you want to watch. Full Apple TV support
Overall it’s a good app however when searching through Apple TV the app starts to fail here as it will not allow you to select from the search list. Please Fix! Otherwise a strong 4.5 but not until that search issue is fixed.bmb1118866
Good app to stream from my NAS
Works well although it can be a little slow, (I guess that the speed of my NAS and connection). The one thing it needs is iPad split view support, it would be amazing if that could be added.Timbo K
Good app for Synology NAS owners
I’ve had the various versions of this for the last 2 years. It’s my main local media streaming app. Happy with it, easily streams my movies to the various screens around the house. I download my media to my iPhone and iPad for offline viewing.
I access my media library from elsewhere to check what I’ve already got before purchasing. However it does struggle to stream my media when I’m not on the same wifi or Ethernet connection.Show lessSouthern Kiwi
Can’t download videos for offline playing
Worked fine previously, now cannot download videos for playing offline. Complains about incorrect formatggss1199
Latest update broke downloads
The latest update only plays videos though DS file (or another player, if installed) and no longer allows downloads for offline watching of MP4s, claiming “No playable videos for download. You can only downloads videos H264, MPEG-4 video codec and non-Hi10 Profile, AAC-LC audio codec, and non-AAC soundtrack for offline viewing.”Show lessGbart9
