  • KISS

Keep It Simple Stupid is just what Workflowy achieves. The app is dead simple to use — a folding outliner. But as you gradually build up your own important memory items (eg grandson’s teachers name) you begin to realize how much you can depend on Workflowy’s instant search instead of your own feeble memory — doctor visit notes, health history for you and your family, car VIN and plate number, … The more you use it, the more valuable it becomes. And the instant sync between your laptop, phone, iPad make it even more powerful!

  • Lost functionality with recent update

I would have given this 5 stars, but I’m super disappointed I lost the quick check mark option. I keep my grocery list ready to go and have been used to crossing an item off when I buy it, then mark it incomplete with the check mark when I need the item again. That was 99% of how I use this app. The quick swipe to check off an item is OK, but to get it back to incomplete is now a tedious process. Can we get the check mark back please?

  • Awesome app!

It helps you keep track of anything and everything. It doesn’t have way too many features, just enough for what you might want. And what you can do with it is amazing!

But it’s kind of obvious it’s made more for the web. Linking something is either really hard or just impossible, compared to on the computer. On the computer, moving or deleting a bullet can be done more easily than on the phone. It would be nice if some of these features were also included on mobile.

All in all, great app! I seriously love it. But it’s tailored more for computer use than mobile use.

  • Great concept, poor implementation

Workflowy, as a whole, is a really cool tool. It works rather marvelously…on desktop. The implementation, however, on iPad is terrible, unfortunately. I try to drag items to move them and text gets selected. I try to toggle the triangle to see sub items and the keyboard pops up. It’s almost unusable. Which is a real bummer since I’m more apt to grab my phone or iPad to jot something in it than my laptop. I think with some tweaks, it could be better. Maybe larger tap targets (text, bullets, menus) for starters so it’s not as likely to tap the wrong thing. The concept is so simple, it seems it should be possible to find a better working interface on mobile. Hopefully that happens soon.

  • One of the most efficient list making apps

Did not expect this to become my absolute favorite app, but after a week of usage-I was hooked. It’s very easy to use, and they are always improving it without cluttering it up. The interface is smooth and simple.

Update: I’ve been using this app for almost 4 years now and I still absolutely adore it. I’ve found new ways to use it and it’s just become a very helpful constant in my life for tracking lists, dates, ideas, and more. I highly recommend it to anyone who uses a bullet journal or just wants a more organized tracking option in their life.

  • Best tool to get things done

I recently watched my manager using workflowy and I wonder what is this tool. I saw a introduction video and started using it. I like the clean design and drill down feature hiding other details when you are using it to take notes. Tagging is another feature very useful to search anything if future cross different nodes to see the history. I did not use collaboration feature yet but i bet that will also be similar to other features. Awesome tool!

  • Outlining Greatness - TEMPLATES!!!

It has taken me years to realize I am an “outliner” and this was 90% there as a great tool a few years ago. But a couple features they’ve added has made this almost perfect. Templates and date tags. These make things like daily notes, journal entries, or typical meetings sooooo much easier to structure. I do think there are perhaps too many ways to tag something with @, #, and now back linking [[]] but I think I just need to settle on a use case for each one.

  • My Favorite Infinite List App

I’ve been using Workflowy for about 2.5 years now. The online version does everything I need. The iOS version is almost there. I love the offline mode as my main use is actually vacation planning. My biggest issue with the mobile version is that I can’t move bullets around. I often change my mind on where I’m going or when, and it’s really annoying to have to manually retype things to reorder them. Dragging works great on the web app. Please bring it to the mobile version.

  • I love Workflowy! The iPad app needs some TLC.

Workflowy on the Mac is wonderfully intuitive. Indenting, outdenting, moving, organizing, searching, creating links are all easy. I don’t need to relearn how to use it if I’ve taken a break for a while.

On the iPad entering, deleting and searching is just as easy. But some things can be ... awkward. Moving an entry that involves scrolling can be an exercise in frustration. And as far as I can tell, only one bullet point at a time can by copied to the clipboard. Which is a major drawback when Workflowy is used to store often-used references.

  • Simple, Easy, Helpful

The way I use it it’s like having a quest log to keep you on track, except you’re the one who writes it. You can use it to organize and prioritize your goals, brainstorm ideas, or something as mundane as keeping a shopping list. The app seems pretty barebones, which makes its use and features straightforward and easy, as long as you don’t mind the short trial and error period of finding all the buttons and features.
