  • A terrible, unnecessarily complicated app

I often have to add a journey several times before it is linked to my pass. The date and time keeps resetting to current - resulting in me allocating the current day as a travel day incorrectly on one occasion. I ended up with multiple trips and can’t delete any. Help is useless. If it wasn’t mandatory to use for Eurail I wouldn’t touch it.

  • One Star Too Generous

This App let me down when I needed it most. We used it to book our 5 days in a month Eurail Passes. The highlight of our trip was to be a ride on the Glacier Express. When the ticket inspector came to inspect our tickets, my wife’s pass was nowhere to be seen in the App. Instead of enjoying the scenery, I spent four hours trying to find the lost pass on my wife’s phone. Otherwise we were faced with a ninety Euro fine. Eventually, I found in Google that many people have experienced this problem. The App becomes disconnected from the data (i.e. the Eurail Pass). The only way to fix this is to delete the App and restore it. Magically, the data returns with no further action.

We had made a deliberate choice to only install a European sim in my phone and not in my wife’s phone. Perhaps I should have transferred the sim to my wife’s phone for the download. In the end, I didn’t and will probably incur something like $AUD100 in charges from my wife’s mobile provider in turning on mobile data and data roaming to download the app. Marginally better than the fine. A week later and I’ve discovered that the data has been lost again. At least I’ve been able to repeat the delete and reinstall action on wifi this time. I will never use this App for another trip again if I can possibly avoid it.

  • Great pass, shame about the app

The Eurail pass is terrific. But the app really is just a useless piece of decoration that gets in the way of your travel by pretending to be useful. The key issue is that it can’t integrate your seat bookings (the list of your journeys is just for rail administrators; it’s meaningless for passengers). Apart from that, you can’t delete an accidentally added trip, an update loses your information, and it often just doesn’t work.

  • -5 Stars

It’s horrible. Cannot begin to tell you the nightmare.
  • Terrible

First, too complicated. Bought a ticket and the app ($388 for 4 days of travel). First trip from Paris to Dijon I had the printed ticket (+$12 for first class.) Got on the train and conductor charged me 50 euro because I didn’t press first day of four on app. Rookie mistake. Showed I bought app and ticket, but he didn’t care. He pushed first day so I lost that, plus paid 50 euro more.

Second leg to Brussels it said that there were no seats available. Went to station and just bought seats on a half empty train (another $124). In addition “no seats available“ on the next leg to Amsterdam until I went to the station again and directly bought seats on another half-empty train (+$120). You sell me the app and then tell me no seats available on a train with over a hundred empty seats??

Complete rip-off and waste of money and time. Would give negative stars if possible. Would like my money back.

  • Terrible

This app has been really confusing. It doesn’t provide info clearly on how to actually reserve and pay for a ticket once you have selected a journey. Also, after saving all of my family’s passport details into the app to book the journeys, the next time I logged in they had all been wiped and I had to enter all details again. I feel like a sucker for spending $1000 on this for trying to plan in advance when I’m sure it’s just as easy to pay per ticket once in the country.

  • Bypass this app

Go to the Renfe office instead or a DB booth. The app unloads itself if you don’t open it often enough. You have to make reservations and that is another app they don’t mention. My pass showed only 1 of the trips I made by the time it expired and I had to buy a sector when the pass was missing from my app the trains work fine but this app adds very little value.

  • Dev team need to work on this

Real time timetable updates is a must. Real time warning about disruption on planned trips. In app reservations.
  • Not good

Dev team definitely need to work harder on this. Reservations need to be associated with pass number. Timetables updated without need of app updates (improve consistency). Reservation direct on app instead off web, and so on…
  • Poor experience

Extremely unsatisfied with Eurorail. Advice for future people thinking of buy this is do your research.

Never been successful on booking trains that require seat reservations. links to websites send you down rabbit holes the evidently dont work and require booking at stations (often not possible to plan that far ahead regarding times and dates as we used eurorail for travel). Booking often need to be booked out days in advance. Was hoping that this service would have made the trip easier but it hasn’t and it needs alot of work to make it easier however this wont be possible as we found our eurorail is ONLY THE MIDDLE MAN for the train companies. Getting the eurorail pass essentially is paying for an overpriced app to tell you when trains depart.

Unsatisfactory experience i will not be purchasing eurorail again and advise anyone reading this to do the same
