App doesn't work and Interrail refuses to accept it

I have reached out to you Interrail multiple times about timetables that are available on their website, and trains that are bookable by the train operators, not existing within the app. They tell me that timetables do exist even though I have shown them screenshots showing them that they blatantly do not. Interrail's solution is for me to manually add every journey, which is extremely time-consuming and does not interact with the map in a functional way, meaning that I cannot see the latest offers that are available to me from other companies on my route, nor can I get a map of where I have been within the app. They refuse to fix the problem. I would recommend avoiding and either finding alternative form of travel, or booking directly with train operators as if you have a specific route in mind rather than just hopping on and off trains, it can actually be much cheaper to do that anyway.

Hi Katie, Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry for the frustration you’ve experienced with the timetables and the manual entry process. We understand how time-consuming and inconvenient this can be. While we continuously update our app to include more routes and improve functionality, your feedback highlights areas where we still need to improve. We appreciate your input and will share it with our team to enhance the experience further. Thank you for your patience, and we hope we can provide a smoother experience in the future. Working app for a great product

I purchased the Global travel pass for 3 months. As far as I experienced, the app worked fine over all but could use some improvements.

It saved so much time in managing connecting trains and knowing where to book seat reservations (although booking through the app is not so convenient in the Balkan region).

I often ran into major trouble when I needed to present my ticket later into the train ride. I did not always have consistent access to internet and occasionally the app would refresh, signing me out and preventing me from viewing my pass. This was quickly fixed when reconnecting to the internet but a few times I had to beg a conductor to believe me.

The app could also use some features around planning trips. A simple one would be to allow the user to select a “default trip” when switching tabs, although it may usually only take a few seconds to load, sometimes I feel bad making the conductor wait for seconds and seconds of loading, especially when I may have forgotten to enable a segment of the trip and need to tab multiple times.

I would also appreciate a feature where you could “build your journey” one station/segment at a time. I imagine it being quite intuitive where you could organise your journey while taking into account stay overs, train ride durations, etc. by adding “blocks” or something.

Hello, Thank you for your detailed feedback and for sharing your experience with the Global Travel Pass! We're happy to hear the app saved you time in managing connections and seat reservations, but we also understand your frustrations with the issues you encountered. We’re working on improving the app’s stability and planning features, and your suggestions, like having a “default trip” and a more intuitive journey-building tool, are great ideas. We appreciate your patience and your valuable input, which helps us improve the app for all users. Best regards, Camilo Social and Community Care Specialist

Excellent but involved

Having just spent a month touring Europe I can vouch for this app. Any problems I’ve had have arisen from misunderstanding the rail system itself. The app, in truth, is a fairly complex thing, and the best way to understand it is to use it. Admittedly, that’s is a pretty intimidating thought at first.
It would benefit from a concise, accurate guide on its use (and, more importantly, its abilities), along with clear pointers as to where to find it.

Words cannot describe how much I hate this app

Some of the worst, least intuitive user interfaces I have ever used, makes a simple concept extremely confusing until you use it for the first time. Do not make an account with google and then go overseas, the app logs you out every 3 days and then google has a freak out because you’re not signing in from your home country. Made what should have been a seamless experience unnecessarily frustrating and exhausting

Awful App, needs a lot of work.

This app has been driving my nuts travelling across Europe. I had quite a lot of seat reservations paid in advance, but you have to go into the account and then seat reservations separately . Also when the screen goes off these tickets aren’t cached, so when you pick your phone up again the tickets disappear and you have to re load. Only in an underground train station this is useless. The website doesn’t sync to the app so have to re do all the journeys. Why doesn’t the app cache as much info as possible? I’m sticking to Trainline next time.

A terrible, unnecessarily complicated app

I often have to add a journey several times before it is linked to my pass. The date and time keeps resetting to current - resulting in me allocating the current day as a travel day incorrectly on one occasion. I ended up with multiple trips and can’t delete any. Help is useless. If it wasn’t mandatory to use for Eurail I wouldn’t touch it.

One Star Too Generous

This App let me down when I needed it most. We used it to book our 5 days in a month Eurail Passes. The highlight of our trip was to be a ride on the Glacier Express. When the ticket inspector came to inspect our tickets, my wife’s pass was nowhere to be seen in the App. Instead of enjoying the scenery, I spent four hours trying to find the lost pass on my wife’s phone. Otherwise we were faced with a ninety Euro fine. Eventually, I found in Google that many people have experienced this problem. The App becomes disconnected from the data (i.e. the Eurail Pass). The only way to fix this is to delete the App and restore it. Magically, the data returns with no further action.

We had made a deliberate choice to only install a European sim in my phone and not in my wife’s phone. Perhaps I should have transferred the sim to my wife’s phone for the download. In the end, I didn’t and will probably incur something like $AUD100 in charges from my wife’s mobile provider in turning on mobile data and data roaming to download the app. Marginally better than the fine. A week later and I’ve discovered that the data has been lost again. At least I’ve been able to repeat the delete and reinstall action on wifi this time. I will never use this App for another trip again if I can possibly avoid it.

Great pass, shame about the app

The Eurail pass is terrific. But the app really is just a useless piece of decoration that gets in the way of your travel by pretending to be useful. The key issue is that it can’t integrate your seat bookings (the list of your journeys is just for rail administrators; it’s meaningless for passengers). Apart from that, you can’t delete an accidentally added trip, an update loses your information, and it often just doesn’t work.

-5 Stars

It’s horrible. Cannot begin to tell you the nightmare.

Terrible

First, too complicated. Bought a ticket and the app ($388 for 4 days of travel). First trip from Paris to Dijon I had the printed ticket (+$12 for first class.) Got on the train and conductor charged me 50 euro because I didn’t press first day of four on app. Rookie mistake. Showed I bought app and ticket, but he didn’t care. He pushed first day so I lost that, plus paid 50 euro more.

Second leg to Brussels it said that there were no seats available. Went to station and just bought seats on a half empty train (another $124). In addition “no seats available“ on the next leg to Amsterdam until I went to the station again and directly bought seats on another half-empty train (+$120). You sell me the app and then tell me no seats available on a train with over a hundred empty seats??

Complete rip-off and waste of money and time. Would give negative stars if possible. Would like my money back.
