  • Astonishingly works

I did not have high hopes for this app going into it. However this app does a great job helping you calibrate color, brightness, contrast settings. Not much for sound yet and limited to 2channel over airplay. Gave it four stars for the speaker limitation.

To the guy who has shuddering video. I would not trust his opinion in 100 years. He clearly does not know how AirPlay works. AirPlay is not based on your 'very fast Internet speed'(as he calls it), it is based on your local transfer speed. I would wager he is using some inexpensive wireless-g router. With the distance genius probably from his router he is not likely getting enough bandwidth to support HD broadcast. Without the ability to down convert the video on the fly, shuddering will be the end result.

In the end this app is not the end all of calibration, but does a very good job and will reach more people who would otherwise not use calibration discs.
  • App Really does help you get a better picture

My TV wasn't super expensive but not cheap either but I was never happy with the black levels. I didn't even know just how much shading Apple TV alone had on their icon display. It just looked solid black. This though walked me easily through how to configure the right settings. I'm happy now. My pictures have been streaming from Flickr while I write this on the screen saver and my pictures look right now.

Even if you have a cheap tv you should tune with this.

Now I want a better sound system that isn't just meh tv speakers.
  • Great for enthusiasts and couch potatoes alike!

Decided to give this app a test drive during my yearly re-calibration of my Panasonic Plasma TV. Worked flawlessly, and helped me identify problems that have cropped up in the past year with picture shift (colors, contrast, etc change over time as a set ages, particularly in plasma. Re-calibrate yearly for best results!). After twenty minutes, it looked like I had a brand new TV again. What I thought was my vision going bad turned out to be brightness so low that I was straining to see dark details! My colors were pumped to the point I couldn't make out fine details against bright color palettes, and that nasty pale pink sickly skin tone had cropped back up over the past year, requiring a tint adjustment.

All in all, this app is highly recommended for anyone with a TV at its current price of FREE, and I'd still recommend it as a valuable tool for purchase when the price goes up to $2 next week. My only real gripe is the lack of multichannel audio playback via AirPlay mirroring and the AppleTV, but that might be a problem with AirPlay, not the app. Overall, kudos to THX for making TV calibration so simple even my Dad could do it.

    Thanks, THX!
