  • Needs Cite While You Write

In theory this app is great (though Good Notes is WAY better for PDF reading/marking up), but as I use my iPad as my primary computer, there is no way to make the best use of endnote in my citations. Please note this before you pay for the whole shebang. As it is, Endnote is only good for keeping things tidy, not for writing. PLEASE ADD CITE WHILE YOU WRITE!!

  • I am back to Endnote after using Mendeley and Papers

The only reason I am back to endote is because of the retrieving the full text from citations.
Honestly, the annotation feature on iPad is great but
Please offer the dropbox integration and syncing, I still prefer annotating in PDF expert.
  • Perfect app!

I assumed that I would need to have the paid version of endnote for the app to be any use, however I was totally wrong, it is amazing! Perfect for annotating PDFs, and very smooth and simple to use. I always use endnote on my iPad now instead of the web version on my laptop.
  • The best way to annotate PDFs and Cite

Just what I have been looking for.....
I am able to download references, store and annotate PDFs and then cite ‘while I write’ as well as automatically creating the reference list. Changes are synced with my home PC. It works incredibly well on an iPad Pro with the pencil.

I can read through a document and make annotations as if I am using a printed copy and pen.

    Just brilliant.

  • iPad application is horrible

Will not sync. It’s almost as if I have two separate libraries, but I don’t. I love Endnote on my laptop, it runs seamlessly and everything is right in the world. The iPad app and the online endnote make me want to burn things.
  • Buggy and crashes frequently

Often crashes when trying to work with text.

You can drag and drop references to groups, unless it's the last group. In this case it's covered by the settings button.

Needs to be able to send reference field text to Word so that the references can be included in Mac or PC Word editors with the Endnote plugin.

  • Desperately needs Cite-While-you-write

The Endnote desktop software is almost universally used in the scientific academic environment. However, while Ipad Pros are increasingly used as portable laptops, the use of endnote on these devices remains dreadfully useless. Although Endnote Ipad app is a nice PDF viewer, it does under-utilizes the power provided by the Ipad pro. If CWYW were developed to use with both Pages and MS Word, this app would jump to the top.

  • Can't import references from the Web

Useless as a research tool. Maybe if you have an Endnote library already... and it's a small library... and you don't want to add to it from your iPad... Then maybe this very limited software is worth your time.
  • Missing Best Features of Desktop App

I have been an Endnote user for years and have loved it. I recently bought an iPad Pro hoping to use it almost exclusively for my master's courses. This app is the app that has hindered that move. This app is great if you want an app that you can collect all your information and edit your resources, but if you want to cite as you write or work in split screen, this app fails miserably. These two features alone are what makes the difference between a one star and a five star app. Sorry Endnote, you can do better.

  • Wonderful, but please make split view support

I have used endnote on a Mac for years and it served me well throughout my undergraduate and post graduate studies. I recommend it to any student who will listen! It happily handles pdf alongside their citations keeping everything neat and tidy, so no more shuffling about folders finding items. I also like the fact that I can synchronise my Mac and iPad on the go. It's convenient to have all my markups on pdf and all my research notes wherever I go.

I have one suggestion however, it would be lovely if the app supported split view for the iPad. I'm currently using an iPad pro, and whilst the app is fantastic using all of the display, the ability to see the direct source whilst typing in another app would be brilliant.
