Pharmacy refill design really bad
I used the prescription refill mode just now for the first time. It seems like it should be easy for a pro to design, but it was counter-intuitive. After nearly giving up, I finally realized that when I tapped on the name of the drug I wanted to refill and the tab changed from "select" to "remove", that was actually telling me the system had understood that I wanted to refill my prescription. Never mind that the screen now showed "remove" next to my drug. I understand the logic behind how it works now, but it's unnecessarily misleading, and of course, there are no written steps to help the first time user. The prescription refill is the only part of the app I've used. One star my be generous, but that's my only option.

Why leave the iPad native version on the store if I can’t use it?
CVS has two apps on the store. One is an iPhone app, the other is an iPad native app. When they rolled out the new iPhone app in late August 2024, the iPad app comes up with a window that you cannot close saying “ Update today to continue using the app & get access to the latest features!” So, you get updated to a downgrade, if you’re an iPad user. More humorously, there is a “use the app” button on the iPhone app version, which takes you to the iPad CVS app, which won’t let you use it.
I don’t understand why CVS can’t support an iPad native version of their app along with the iPhone version. iPhone apps work on iPads, but they look crummy and you lose a lot of useful space. It’s mystifying why they would leave the iPad version up on the store when it cannot be used.
If anyone is reading this from CVS, either delete the iPad native version app or get rid of that window! Thank you!

iPad or iPhone???
The app itself is okay but there is a longstanding bug that crops up every now and then. When I open the app (for iPad) it throws an "Update Now" box, blocking any further access to any app features. When I go the the App Store, NO UPDATES EXIST! When I go back to the app and tap "Update Now", it installs the iPhone version, wiping out the iPad version. VERY FRUSTRATING!!! I have notified the developers about this several times, but it keeps happening. The "fix" is to wait until a REAL update is released for the iPad version and do that update. Until that happens, this app is useless, hence the 1-STAR rating.
A couple of suggestions:
-use ONE app, ONE code-base for CVS Pharmacy, ONE app to get from App Store. The app determines what device it's running on and then presents the displays and features appropriate for that device
- STOP THE FORCED UPDATES! Unless you know an older version of an app WON'T work (say unsupported on a new release of iOS), allow the user to chose when to update. The cell signal in my CVS is very weak. It is SO ANNOYING when you force a minor update on me at the Pharmacy counter and I have to leave the line and run to the window to get cell service! Stop it!

Decent pharmacy app, especially iPad native version
I found the CVS app is generally useful and usable. I’m glad to see they have an iPad version that provides a lot more detail on the screen. I know this is not an app issue, but it would be great if they would have the ability to send a message to the pharmacy. Other pharmacies, such as Rite Aid, allow this. At CVS, you always have to call and go through the phone tree. When all you want to do is send in a coupon, that seems like a big waste of time on both sides.

Saving my money!
I give this app five stars. I love using my CVS card or just punching in my phone number so I can save on all the items that I purchased. I’ve saved hundreds of dollars over the years. I love spending my extra bucks cash and using the great coupons when you combine them you pay a fraction of what the price would’ve been and that’s so exciting to me! I love my CVS store. I really love this certain checker. Their name is Quinn this person works at the CVS store in Cameron Park off of Green Valley Road and every time I go there Quinn makes my day better with his smile with his professionalism and he just makes me feel right at home. Quinn also explained to me everything about any questions I have about my items or using the app. He is very helpful.

My trusted CVS
I’ve been a customer since CVS opened on Arden Ave in Staten Island, NY. I have complete trust in the pharmacy staff. Each prescription I fill is reviewed by them and on occasion had discussions. They are always professional and friendly. We’re seniors and they treat us respectfully. We always shop CVS for items we need. Our store has a wide variety of items. We used the Health Care on site and were pleased with the service. Can’t ignore the associates! Friendly, know their store and willing to help. I am a life-long customer.
PS I would like to acknowledge Pharmacist Jennifer. She always goes above and beyond!
One thing I would like—-to be able to view my vaccination history online.

Basically functional and a little frustrating at times
I can, generally, accomplish what I set out to do in this app. There are other times when it is difficult to do so. For example, I went in earlier today to ask that my two filled scripts be delivered. I added them to my cart and headed to the check out page where it asked for my birthdate to verify my identity.
Imagine my surprise when the app told me that my birthdate (which I’ve been using in the app and in the store for a few decades) doesn’t match with anyone in my account!
I eventually solved it by going into my personal settings and re-entering my birthdate. I returned to the scripts page where everything proceeded without a hitch.
This is just one example. There have been other frustrations.

Fill in Pharmacist
I have been going to this pharmacy at least 10 years. The fill in pharmacist working today has made up all kinds of reasons to not fill my Schedule II medication. Months ago he said I had 2 profiles and he wouldn’t fill my prescription. I didn’t make the 2nd profile. That’s an internal CVS thing because I got married. Today he said I had to have my physical address on my prescription. Nobody told me about any policy changes. It’s on my license. He pulled the prescription to fill today and then told me I couldn’t fill my prescription until April. My March prescription was pulled by him and basically deleted from the system. I have MS, kidney disease, high blood pressure and arthritis. I had received 2 texts saying it would be filled today and now they can’t tell me when. Because of the sensitive nature of scheduled medication you can’t just transfer those prescriptions. I will be in agony because he thinks he’s a doctor.

Getting Better, But . . .
Hey CVS Team,
I’ve been wanting to bring up a couple of things about the CVS app. First off, the lack of landscape mode is a real inconvenience. Most iPad users, myself included, use keyboards that are designed for landscape use. It’s quite a hassle to have to remove the iPad from the keyboard every time I want to use your app.
Also, I’ve noticed the app can be quite slow at times. It can be frustrating when you’re trying to get something done quickly.
Another thing, the screen brightness increases unexpectedly when I switch to the order tab. It’s a bit jarring and seems unnecessary. A consistent brightness level would be much more comfortable.
A suggestion for improvement: could there be an option to automatically fill in the shipping address? Most of the time, we’re likely sending prescriptions to our home address. It would save time and be more convenient.
And lastly, the constant pop-ups asking for feedback or about vaccinations can be overwhelming. Even after responding, they keep reappearing. It would be great if these could be minimized once we’ve given our response.
Thanks for considering this feedback. I believe these changes could really enhance the app experience.

Easy and useful
UPDATE: Since the last update the app has become completely unusable. It crashes on launch. It has now been a month. I tried telling my local store and I do not believe they could have cared less. How do we report this so that it can be fixed?
If the app is fixed I shall change my rating back to 5⭐️
This is one of my favorite apps. It really helps me keep track of my meds. Some new features would be nice like customized sorting of medications by name, date filled, etc. The option of being able to toggle on/off "My CVS." For those of us who do not share our mobile devices, the option of not having to log in every single time we use the app.
