Worst app I have ever experienced

This app is just awful. If for some reason you delete all the devices on your hub, say because you want to set it up with a different TV, it gets into a mode where it stops responding. You then have to uninstall and reinstall the app, and then reset the hub, to get it working again. Operations frequently fail. Once they fail, retry never works and you will have to restart the app. The problem is exacerbated by the flakey Harmony hub, which frequently has WiFi connectivity issues. I just spent 2 hours (that’s right, 2 hours) fighting this app to set up my hub after I swapped out my streaming device. I ended up having to completely hard reset the device and set everything up fresh, including all the failures and flakiness. It took me four attempts. Then because I have two of these turkeys, I wanted to rename the hub so I could distinguish it from the other one in the software. You can’t do that from this app. You have to install the desktop app, change the name in there, and the. come back to this app to sync that change. Honestly, I don’t think I could make a worse user experience with an unlimited budget and unlimited time. It’s that bad.

Painfull to use no improvement

For a company as big as Logitech having years and years and years of poor reviews why don’t you make the app better it’s so slow!!! So much paging back and forward it takes hours to setup and if you have to delete something from an activity oh boy... set aside a day to set it up...

When it works it works well but this app is so bad!!!

iOS iPad rubbish, iOS phone great

I iPad version of this app is plagued with failures. The widget hasn’t worked since installing it. The interface is difficult to navigate. Load time is incredibly slow.

The iPhone version, no problems. Works wonderful and as it should. Widget is updated as I use it, controls such as volume work.

Why have I written this review? Trying to provide feedback to Logitech on these errors - I believe storming the gates to the White House would be easier. The process to submit issues is incredible difficult on the iPad.

It’s like they have tried to alienate themselves from their customers. Well, this is my experience of this app.

App review (not a review of the remote)

The app is about as full featured as I could want but that level of complexity comes at a price with some post initial setup options buried deep in a nest of menu pages. Once you understand the rational it makes sense but I fear some users may never discover them. Initial setup of a new hub went slowly until I understood I needed to create a new user account rather than log into my (very) old Harmony 1100 one. I was relieved to be able to import devices from that old user account later in the setup.

The setup did lead me down the garden path somewhat when it found my Apple TV on the network but eventually I discovered the “Harmony Pro” Bluetooth Apple TV 4k device which gave me more functionality. Still not a complete replacement for the Apple TV 4k remote with my NFL Gamepass app but good enough for many tvOS apps.

The app offers an easy to use virtual remote on both my iPhone and iPad, functionality I tend not to use but nice to have. Well worth the download from the app store but be prepared to spend time learning what it can do.

2 Year User Review Harmony Elite

I bought the Harmony Elite package over two years ago and couldn’t be happier with it. There are many negative reviews but considering the configurability of this universal remote offering, I’m confident that all the negative reviews are due to user error. It’s a complex consumer offering competing directly with professional remote control offerings from the likes of URC. Unlike URC which requires a professionally licensed technician to install, configure and update, Harmony puts the power in the hands of the consumer. Hats off to them for giving consumers a choice. The Harmony app and remote do exactly what they are programmed to do by the user. If the user does a hack job of programming it, poor results are what you will get. Plain and simple, it’s user error. Thank you for a quality product!

Could be great

Had my Harmony Hub for years and the software has got much better over time but a few updates have really let it down.

My single biggest gripe, let us remove sequences from Activities. Just because you switch from one activity to another doesn’t mean you want to switch off all the devices if the previous activity. Let us remove steps from a sequence, sometimes you switch back and forth and it’s painful that the Harmony Hub switches things off every time you switch.

Please sort this and the all will be great again.

Worst setup that does complete ever

I have companion remote that doesn’t have any cradle or screen but the app keeps me asking to place the remote on cradle and I have no other choice than quit app. WTH. How am o supposed to setup my remote?

Response from developer

I'd recommend you to unpair the Harmony Hub from MyHarmony Desktop Software and continue the setup. Steps to unpair: 1) Open MyHarmony Desktop Software [If you're not having the software, you can download it from here: https://support.myharmony.com/en/download] 2) Before clicking anywhere inside the window: (Windows users: Press Alt+F9) (Mac users: Press Fn+Option+F9 or Option+F9 depending on the Mac model, either one will work) 3) You will be taken to the advanced tools page 4) Scroll down and select the "Unpair" button under "Others" 5) Connect the Harmony Hub to your computer via USB 6) Once the tool detects your Hub, click "Unpair All" 7) Once, you are done, click 'Return to Login Screen'. 8) Setup the Harmony Hub. I hope this will help! regards, Peter

Handy not having to find a remote and just use your phone

BUT after some use eventually it will no longer connect to the hub. The fix is uninstall/reinstall of the app and it work again until it decides to do this again.

I use a iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s and it does this on all these devices.

Dreadful product, dreadful app

Without going into excessive detail, this really is a waste of your time and money, and will tax your patience to breaking point.

PC based setup instructions simply don’t match what’s in the box, so forget the Logitech remote. No mention of button function either, and since the box doesn’t mention model name or number, you can forget online ‘help’.

I set up the hub, but the software incorrectly flags the function of some devices, so of course you can’t control them.

The app is hopeless. Baffling, counter intuitive and of course it doesn’t work.

Logitech used to be good. Not any more.

Truly, you’re better off with lots of remotes, which you got with the devices, so of course they work!

Just incredibly convoluted and terrible

This app (and harmony remotes generally) never cease to amaze me with its awkwardness and bugginess. The really awful part is that it’s still the best unifying remote system I’ve tried out... and it’s absolutely TERRIBLE. You can be sure that a “bug fix” will cause at least 2 new ways for the iPad app to crash. They have effectively removed any other way to edit/adjust/update your hardware and settings, other than the app. The app will not work without checking and rechecking your firmware and “connection to server”, frequently crashing during that connection, shortly after, or just completely forgetting your hub and/or stored password. Current newest issue is that trying to re-order operations in an activity with drag and drop (the only way to do it) freezes the iPad and then crashes. Every single time. Not sure about my iPhone. That version of the app refuses to login to servers, and therefore you can’t control your local device. How could they possibly let you control your device without trying to store some personal information about you online, eh? Just, well, terrible.
