This app is garbage
I had an Ecobee thermostat which worked just fine with my previous unit and was talked into upgrading to the S40 unit with my new furnace.
This has been a horrible upgrade. First of all, I use a randomized password from a vault. Unlike with every other app I can’t paste the password to log in. It errors out. So I have to manually key the PW which is a massive pain.
Second, once I log in, I can’t control the device anyway. I can see it but the device ignores any changes I make. I’m wholly dissatisfied with this app and the unit that I paid a very substantial amount of money for.

Thermostat / App Connection
I had the new system installed about a month ago. It’s been great with the exception that the thermostat & phone app connection is intermittent. I’m sitting in the same room & it won’t connect sometimes so that I can adjust the temp/humidity, etc.
In comparison to the S30 - awful
Both the app and the S40 display device are awful in comparison to the previous version. Both are hard to see from a 508 compliance standpoint with thin sleek lines and muted colors. There is no way to change the visualization on either. I lost internet service for several hours and my thermostat display is no longer paired with my app. The app demands a pin to reconnect but there is no option in the thermostat to generate a pin since it was initially setup. The menus and options do not match the manual and do not advise how to generate a second pin.

Has problem with password ending in ampersand
I just installed the app, but only after frustration logging in.
Lennoxicomfort did not complain about password ending with ampersand (&) but this app would not let me login until I removed the ampersand :(

Takes time to learn
Transition from old to new, Simple wifi thermostat coupled with gas furnace & ac to this one with hi tech new furnace & heat pump is a learning experience. Thermostat has so many features complicated by heat ie pump takes much longer to raise temperatures, I thought thermostat or systems not working right, or I was not using thermostat correctly. Suggest use manual settings for a time, and then gradually move to more advanced features ie schedules, away, humidity…..love telling Alexa “set the heat to 68”, or ‘Alexa, increase the temperature 3 degrees” or ‘what’s the temperature inside the house’ . The weather forecast display on the screen is nice too……

Lennox S40 Thermostat
Have had problems from day1 with this thermostat. We understand when the unit was first installed that it was a prototype and may have problems. The delivery schedule of production versions was over a month in the future. We accepted the prototype because the project took over 3 months to complete without the thermostat. The thermostat has been intermittent since installed, but when it works it is great! We have found that controlling the heat pump with the Lennox computer app works very well. We just hope that the installer will replace the unit so control can be returned to the thermostat.

Not reliable
App does a good job with the basics but sometimes we need go shut down the app and restart it to get it loading.
Stunned With Lack Of Performance Reports
My installer originally included the S30 in my proposal and I was most impressed by performance reports available on the website.
It’s just simply stunning that the same feature is not available for the S40. Removing such a feature is inexcusable and I didn’t even think to check for this when we changed to the S40 just prior to install (S30 no longer readily available).
I expect that this will be added in the very near future and hope that it’s not for the reason other reviews have stated (Lennox not wanting to make as much information available).

App glitches out and closes after 10 seconds
I just want to be able to control my thermostat from my phone in my bed without having to bear the cold floors and air to walk to the other side of my house to change the temperature or mode. Fix this issue please. I can’t even report the issue in the app because it won’t stay open long enough to do so

Very Basic Controls and UI
Coming from an our old house with an S30, we just replaced a poorly installed contractor grade York system in a one YO new construction home with a Signature series Lennox system coupled with the S40 thermostat. S40 certainly seems more robust and consistent than our old S30 when it comes to communication links and initial setup. I did like the Home Screen UI on the S30 better as it gave more at glance info for the mode the system was operating in or what schedule was being used, if the system was ramping between points, etc. On the S40, I have to dig thru menus to figure out those same settings. The info is there but it’s just not intuitive. My biggest ding on the S40 in comparison to the S30 are the number of steps allowed in schedules. The S40 limits schedules to 4 steps throughout the day. That’s very limiting and impractical given todays reality of daily routines coupled with dealing with power company peak and non-peak rates.
