Reviews of Feeling Great

  • Hoping to change my rating

Not a great start. I created an account and spent some time writing answers to questions and was liking it. Then the app crashed and I had to restart my phone to get it back. Then I learned that it hadn’t stored anything, including my account credentials. Oh boy. That’s hard when you’re feeling the way I do.

    Developer Response

I'm sorry to hear the app crashed and you had lost all your progress! The app should have stored the conversation when you log back into your account. Definitely share any details about the crashed app and work with our support team at support@feelinggreat.com, we want to find out why the chat didn't continue on from before. -Micheal
  • Bad app, bad content

    A few criticisms:

    1) the app asks the user a ton of leading questions in a multiple choice fashion. I don’t feel like I can answer these questions authentically.
    2) the app has conflicting messages on negative thoughts. It advises us to find the positive in our negative thoughts and also to rewrite them and stop thinking them. This is very confusing for me.
    3) The app is generally clunky and poorly made.

It feels as if Dr. Burns has not put in the same effort to the user experience of this app as he put into his many books.

    Developer Response

Thank you for the feedback about the initial intake questions, reframing negative thoughts, and the clunky experience. We would love to see details and screenshots to explain how the app feels clunky and poorly made would only help us improve the app for you. We encourage you to share with us at support@feelinggreat.com, this would help us greatly to improve these experiences! -Micheal
  • Did not go well

Suggest some more time in beta. Good potential but not there yet. It accurately summarized what I wrote, but the responses it gave for the cbt work were not related in any way to what I wrote. It went from deeply insightful human-seeming interlocutor, to very basic and inaccurate chat bot. It was jarring and given the context, weird and upsetting. Please test this more, it was a surprisingly unpleasant experience.

    Response to developer:
Thanks for your response. I would be happy to try this again and share screenshots (which I did not take while I thought I was engaging in a functional cbt app) but this app is no longer fully free. I think you need to provide the app for 100% free until the bot can accurately work with users past the point of reflecting what they would like to work on. Right now, it failed for me and apparently a few others to do the difficult part: help challenge potentially inaccurate thoughts. Some will (and have) found the experience of sharing difficult thoughts and feelings, only to be met with the chat bot equivalent of “and how did that make you feel?” to be disturbing and possibly harmful. I know this is not what you intend. Therefore, please do not to call this version a public beta in response to feedback. Betas are labeled as such up front, and they warn users glitches are still being worked out. And there should be no cost past a certain usage point to testers. I believe this would be the ethical move on your part. With this change, I would consider spending my time to help you finish training your AI.
    Thank you.

    Developer Response

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback and we appreciate every bit of detail we can get from our community during our public beta. We would love to see details and screenshots to understand where in the flow that the chat bot responded so we can improve our CBT work on the bot. If you can provide additional details to our support@feelinggreat.com, this would help us greatly to improve these experiences! -Micheal
