I really want this app to be good. Maybe it’s the flood of IG artists hopping on and overwhelming the platform, but it just doesn’t function for me. Anything I try to do gives me a spinning wheel for a while. There’s no way to find my existing connections. Things don’t update in a timely way (ie: still not seeing the people I’ve followed or images I upload show on my profile minutes later). Buttons are misspelled for goodness sake. I had to google how to add images to my portfolio. The design just isn’t very intuitive.
I love the concept and I know this is a small team just starting out and doing their best. But there’s a mass movement of artists coming from other platforms and I hope they can pull it together! Artists need a win right now.
Soo in light of the AI garbage happening on IG, a lot of people are moving to Cara. Me as well, and I do understand this app still needs to be worked on, but I can’t post or make changes to anything without there being an error at least 5 times. It’s super slow and glitchy, and the search bar doesn’t work. I would say without these problems it would be a much better alternative, seeing as the interface is pretty much exactly the same as Instagram. If you’re willing to overlook the slowness, I think it’ll hopefully be a safe space for artists!
Considering it’s still in the beta I won’t be too harsh on the glitches and parts of the app that feel awkward. That is the only reason it is not a perfect 5 stars.
Aside from that the features are very neat and I’m loving it so far! Hopefully this app can grow and be used by many artists just like on twitter and instagram and I’m excited to see its growth
I haven’t been posting regularly since ai scraping for generative ai came out. I quit my full time job to commit myself to the life of an artist the day after that, ai apps rolled out. I was shocked. Now I post with confidence. This saved a part of my soul that was scared. Just happy someone stepped up
I actually really like the UI of Cara its easy to navigate imo. The “portfolio” and timeline sections in the profile were a little confusing at first but just think of the portfolio section as the Instagram gallery on your profile and the Timeline as Twitter scrolling. Other art focused apps usually end up going downhill because the creators turn out to be weirdos and the app itself looks clunky and unprofessional but Cara looks professional and sleek i was surprised at first when I found out they have a small team that are all just volunteering!! The only things I dont like about it at the moment is how slow it is which is understandable because they have a small dev team and theres a huge wave of newcomers signing up like me so hopefully it can get fixed soon. I also hope they will allow us to upload videos so that people can post things like animations with audio. Im hopeful for the future of Cara and having a safeplace to post images that isn’t trying to get into the whole AI stuff.
Hello there Cara! I fine your app to be a wonderful place and I love how your anti ai but I have noticed on both my phone and IPad it’s laggy, nothing like app ruining it takes like 30ish seconds to load up comments or the next page. Don’t take this as hate I really enjoy the app I think you could optimize it a little bit!
I absolutely love this as an art platform, however it’s running very slow to the point where it’s difficult to use, and for some reason I haven’t been able to comment which is really unfortunate because I want to interact with other artists on the platform. I will be giving it more time though, since it’s a new platform and has recent gained a lot of popularity.
I really wanted to like this app, but it needs a LOT of work… Everything loads SLOW. Posting, searching, scrolling, it’s very buggy and slow. I was able to make one post (it took 15 mins to even show that post on my profile). When I went to check my account later, the app had logged me out. When I tried to log back in, it said I didn’t have an account. Okay, fine, I’ll try to recover the password. But that didn’t work either because it never sent me the password reset email and it’s been 24 hours… so at this point I’ve accepted it deleted my account. I’m really disappointed, I thought this app had a lot of potential, but in its current state it’s not usable.
So i downloaded this app yesterday it’s getting 5 stars cause the not being able to like and load I can kinda deal with till they fix those bugs. But overall i love the app and the fact all my favorite artists are going on there now🩷
The app is clearly still new. There are a lot of small bugs and it’s slightly laggy. However, I absolutely Suport it’s purpose and the fact that it for and by artists. If you are again generated ai art, sign up like i did!
