Wow - can’t even log in properly
I’ve never been so inspired to leave a review, but the user experience is basement level. But since I can’t log in I’ve just got to do it - why doesn’t it use myGovID…? Why won’t it use the keychain password manager, or at least allow me to paste my long and difficult password- so it might actually be great but I am sick of wasting time trying to use it - given the number of Australians who presumably have to use this surely a competent app developer couldn’t be that expensive ! At least a help button on the log in page, might have avoided this review if I could contact someone?

Unclear
I’d say the reason you guys are backed up is because the Medicare app doesn’t show claim progress statuses, so we don’t even know if the claim we’ve recently submitted has even been submitted into the system, let alone whether it’s been looked at. As far as I can see my claim hasn’t gone through because it doesn’t show up in claims history or anywhere else. Some of my past experiences with government agencies tells me that the systems fail all very often and it created bigger headaches, especially when the apps are so limited and the phone lines are backed up and manned by undertrained and depressed staff

login doesn’t invoke password manager
when I logged in, instead of simply tapping the password field then seeing the word ‘Passwords’ to then autofill from the Apple password manager, I had to open that separately in Settings and copy/paste.
Also: once I’d logged in, I’m greeted with ‘there is already a PIN associated with this login; use that next time’ (as if I’ve made some mistake) but that wasn’t an option on first login post app update. It was next time after that, but it felt a bit rude.
ps. it would be nice if I could simply access my Medicare card in my Apple wallet app, same as my ATM card, train tickets etc., rather than opening the Medicare app just for this. Thanks.

Unnecessary repetition
This app is cumbersome and creates unnecessary transaction costs for users.
When making a claim this app requires you to upload a receipt and then manually enter the key info from the receipt too (provider number; item number etc). This presents a real barrier for people who may not be quick or familiar with the use of apps on phones (such as older people).
In contrast, the app for the private insurer HCF only requires the client to upload the receipt. I presume the HCF staff then enter the item numbers etc in the course of checking the document.

Garbage app - no useful information.
App espouses to offer access to reports, history and records. The only information found is payments. No medical history or report results. If you care about such records, make sure to find a healthcare provider that is willing to allow you to participate in your healthcare rather than inform you what will happen.

Why Not?
I simply don’t get WHY, you are unable or won’t, SHOW what unpaid claims have been submitted currently and the PROGRESS?? There is absolutely NO info shown, only way to check what I’ve put in recently, is to start entering all the details again, only THEN am I told it has been previously submitted. WHY EVER NOT?? At least show a dated ‘received’ confirmation, instead of being left in the dark.
Software Developer, what is so hard about that??
Every other online forms I fill out, ALL either email confirmation that it was received by the company concerned, or shows in my account.
To do nothing at all is SO primitive and frustrating. I’ve said all this before, months ago, but nothing changed, or even acknowledged. 🙄😖☹️ Does anyone ever read the website feedback, I doubt it.
[To add insult to injury, the feedback website TIMED OUT before completion & I had to start over]

Help the Call Centre people !!
I submitted a claim via this app which was easy and worked well, I was waiting and waiting for a refund. I thought maybe my claim got lost in the system so I referred back to your app to see if my claim was still pending but to my dismay could only view completed claims, the Centrelink person told me to call the call centre which I waited 40 mins listening to really bad music on hold, a very nice person answered my call and processed the claim, HOWEVER if the app would have shown my claim still in pending state I would have just as happy to wait. Can you add this feature ?? Thanks

Express Medicare App (Australia)
I’ve been using it for years and it’s worked fine. Today I noticed the App had disappeared from my IPhone. I found it in the App Store and it indicated I should open it, which I did. Apparently it had been getting updated or system was being serviced.
It worked straight away, as it did normally in the past, so I lodged my claim and left the App. Normally the Icon would remain in view until opened again. But it was still missing from my display of Apps, as it was before I lodged the claim today.
What has happened and how can I get it back?

MyGov ID
It would be useful to add the MyGov ID login option into the app. Since MyGov ID has been verified, it makes sense to add this option. Thanks!
Digital Card Requires Internet
Unfortunately I couldn’t find any other place to provide feedback about the app, therefore having to use this medium to do that. When there isn’t any mobile coverage, which isn’t uncommon in some buildings, it becomes impossible to log into the app and bring up your digital card. This puts you in a difficult situation if you don’t have the physical card with you. To support offline scenarios, it would be best to allow adding the medicare card to apple wallet similar to our vaccination certificates.
