Worst Device and App Ever

Do not buy the pen or use the app. It never works and customer service is horrible.

Not pairing & No Customer Support

It says contact Customer Support but there is none and pen is not pairing to any device. I’m at a lost…

Poor support

My 3 month old pen started recording phantom stokes ( on not the iOS and windows app, so it’s clear it’s the pen). Reached out to livescribe. Zero response. I get plenty of promotional emails from them, so marketing works but support is non existent.

Does not convert Audio

This pen does not play audio on macbook or iphone. I am forced to connect to app and play audio on pen. This pen is very troublesome and not user friendly. I never received a response when I reached out to Costumer Support.

Autolock and phone calls cancel the recording

Be careful, receiving phone calls, or auto-lock cancels your recording and it will be lost forever. you cannot get it back. you have to turn off the phone and auto lock before starting to record if you don’t want to lose your recording. Livescribe is supposed to fix this soon. We’ll see. otherwise I will give them 5 stars.

This is a TERRIBLE app. Every single time that I open it I have to pair my pen to it as if it’s the first time.

PLEASE IMPROVE THE APP

Returning

After a couple days of trouble shooting I’ve given up and will be returning the symphony pen because I’ve never been able to pair it with my iPhone and when I’m successful at pairing with my MacAir it looses paired connection within 30 seconds. I’ve also can’t figure out how to export writing from the pen to my google drive. I’ve connected the drive with the app but since I can pair the pen it’s impossible to export my notes. Very disappointing.

Very Disappointed

I have had prior versions of the Smartpen that connect to my computer and that was a bit unwieldy (wired connection, etc.) but it WORKED. Thought I would “upgrade” here — I wish I had read all these reviews first because I have had all of the same experiences. It won’t connect, or has to be “re-connected” each time you use it, the sync (when it happens) is slow, I can only get playback through the pen and not any other outside speaker/headphones despite figuring out (finally) how to connect them. The instructions are terrible (but probably because whoever wrote them knows that nothing works anyhow). I’m going back to my ancient version 1 of this equipment…

Livescribe owes us all an apology and a refund.

Good, but…

Why, oh why isn’t iCloud available as a cloud service 😩

Terrible app makes it a $100 dumb pen

The iOS app makes a great hardware product simply insufferable. Sure, it does okay if you take some simple notes and need to search through them. But anything beyond that, let’s see where do I get started?

1. Connectivity is sparse, it doesn’t work with corporate OneNote account and their GDrive integration feels like it’s written by a first grader. You’re not going to be able to export a PDF most of the time - forget about trying to get mixed text/graphics/voice notes out of their crippled app.

2. Bugs. Is this a joke? Do you actually use your app? It crashes with 80+ page notebooks. When auto-sending to Google drive gets stuck in an endless loop overwriting a single page. If you have closed the cap on your pen in the middle of the sync, say goodbye to ever updating your notebook again. And don’t even get me started on security policies this app needs to run

3. There are 3 categories - “Tag”, “Star”, “Flag”. Want more? You’d need to buy a physical notebook for each category.

TLDR; I wasted 20+ hours experimenting with import/export and this is hardly any better than taking physical notes. It’s literally easier to take photos of your notebook and then run them through OCR

Horrible!!! Do not buy!!

The app will not load the data from the pen. When the app tries to sync the data, the app crashes. So nothing loads. When you go back into the app, the app asks for you to connect to the pen. However, the pen is already connected via Bluetooth. The only way to get the app to recognize the pen after the app crashes is to remove the Bluetooth connection. When you restart the connection process again, it does nothing because the app crashes every time. I haven't had the own for a week; I will be sending the pen back.

Also, the computer process is no better.
